Our DM told us to make a template for a lvl 32 Wizard who is in essence a Necromancer.

For what we've read, a lvl 32 wizard is capable of destroying the multiverse on a whim (we don't know how, tho)

How would you build a lvl 32 necromancer wizard for an epic fight??
For undead creation, Lich Dragon would be the only viable option.
Anything smaller would be eradicated in one action i think.
(We've never reached epic levels before, so we don't have that kind of experience)

We had an idea for making a necromancer that can destroy life over create minions.

Any help is appreciated, thanks :)

The answer is Epic Spellcasting (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/feats.htm#epicSpellcasting). Seriously (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/developingEpicSpells.htm). Want to Animate a Planet (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10240)? No Problem (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=791074&postcount=9).

So when you're at Epic, that's the sort of thing you'll need to use to make a character that can keep up. It's also the method you'd use to be able to snuff out the sun with a flick of your fingers (although that sort of thing needs preparation, if you prepare right, you can do that - you make the spell like I listed for animating a planet, then make the actual effect contingent upon a specific trigger. So your hordes of angels let you cast it, then later, when you snap your fingers, the spell takes effect, whatever it was.

On a more indepth note, the "Thou shalt not lose Caster Level" Tenet of Practical Optimization slightly goes out the window. Losing a couple of CLs here and there aren't going to kill you.

Back onto your question. I actually play a ECL 32 Wizard, so I'm interested in the build ideas discussed. Epic Spellcasting is that good, particurally if you can mitigate the costs down to something reasonable. I personally like boosting my intelligence into even higher orbit (either permanent duration, or 1/week casting time).

As far as your theme. How Evil do you want to be?

As far as role goes, high level Necromancers can be effective minionmancers, or do hellacious amounts of debuffing.

If you want to be hard core evil, I'd suggest a Lich Wizard (not the template, but obtained through walker in the waste), With perhaps the full levels of sandshaper to get even more free resurrection who has two Genesis demiplanes. One for his organs (and a clone of himself in stasis) that is trapped to high heaven, and as a permanent greater anticipate teleport over the entire plane (I'm thinking a very very small plane), and one with his actual body on it (say filled with black sand for fast healing for all the undead guards aroudn your body, with an Astral construct that actually does the combat/adventuring. Consider taking Ignore Material Components, and making some simulacra of yourself (also nice for not depleting your world's black onyx supply).

^^^ Isn't horribly over optimized for strategic level defense at ECL 32.

Tactically speaking, my advice would depend on your prefered incombat role. I'd suggest looking up Lord of the Uttercold, as if you do decide to rumble in the jungle, most of your pets are going to either be outright immune, or at the very least healed by your negative energy attacks. Lich Dragons are nice, I won't lie, but frankly I've found that hardcore minionmancy at Epic levels can get a bit . . . tedious. I'd encourage you to focus on debuffing adversaries. If you want a single minion cool, and Lich Dragon isn't a bad one.

I'll be watching the thread with interest. Let me know if you have any questions

Yeah, ask your DM whether epic spellcasting is allowed or now, and show him some of the links that were previously posted before asking him that question, just in case he doesn't have a good understanding of what exactly its capable of.

How powerful are you trying to be, and trying not to be?

A level 32 Wizard (still able to cast level 9 spells and Epic spells) can easily, given the resources (mostly time and a bit of money) single-handedly go Tippy (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=222007) on the world.

If you stop thinking of the character as a person and start thinking of him as a God, you have a good starting point.
