View Full Version : What's stopping a Psion from wearing heavy armor?

I know that Psions can probably boost their AC to astronomical levels with Inertial Armor if they felt like spending the PP on it, and that non-proficiency means that they'll take the ACP to attack rolls and the like. But especially at low levels when Inertial Armor doesn't explode or if the Psion in question doesn't plan to make any attack rolls and focus solely on SoDs, is there any mechanical reason that a Psion should avoid heavy armor?

It also penalizes a lot of physical skills, and if their Strength is to low will slow them with Encumbrance. But if those aren't an issue, you're absolutely right - wear Full Plate and go nuts. Heck, wear Mountain Plate if you want, you're non-proficient anyways.

So, if you aren't going to use one of the many decent ranged touch attack powers a psion gets, and you have the strength to move around in heavy armor, and you're not high enough level to just throw up an augmented inertial armor...

Shields are nice as well.

Thematically, I'd say wear Dendritic Crystal Armor with a Restful Armor Augment Crystal.
On its own Dendritic Crystal Armor is non-magical armor that gives a +9 to AC (as compared to the +8 from full plate). The Restful Armor Augment Crystal removes its only downside.

Dendritic Crystal armor repairs itself, but it has to because the only way to get in and out of it is to break it.

Thread necro blahblahblah :smalltongue:

Armor that you have to break to get out of? That sounds awesome!

Armor check penalties apply to initiative rolls if you're nonproficient, which is a significant drawback.

Specific trumps general. Psion's are not proficient with any armor. Check it. (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/classes/psion.htm)
