I have a player who wants to play a sneaky assassin style character, and I think that ninja is a prime fit. considering the...quality...of the CA Ninja, I've been perusing the various fixes created by the Playgrounders. Right now I'm looking at T.G. Oskar's (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127673), Person Man's (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=186505), afroakuma's (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94207), as they all have excellent histories of homebrew.

What is your favorite fix? Have I missed any worth looking at?

I'd prefer to just use a shadow hand/diamond mind Swordsage.

I am purposely not using swordsage. I don't want the player to have to learn ToB, as they are new to the game. Further, swordsage doesn't have the various social skills or the thieving skills like Open Lock and Sleight of Hand.

The pathfinder ninja is incredibly cool.

If you're starting at a high enough level you could try using the old 3.0 ninja prestige class. That thing was wicked awesome compared to the current ninja.

Aside from that, when one of my players did a ninja he optimized it by using a lot of skill tricks from Complete Scoundrel. You could check those out.

I i build ninjas to play all the time and i honestly find the prefab ninja classes to be lame compared to multiclassing rogue and monk together. If built and balanced correctly this mundane build is very hard to hit, has high savs, gets a spread of special abilities that are functional and fluffy for ninja lore, your ac will be way up there if you where no armor, basics on how to do this.

1. Dex int and wis are the scores to focus on in that order.
2. Take enough monk levels to obtain natural armor and an improved move speed.
3. Other than ki focus spend your funds on everything but weapons as sneak attack will be your best friend.
4. Take great fortitude and iron will quickly to play keep up with what will be an outrageous reflex save and dms will throw this at you once they see your character laugh at fireball every time.
5. Spend your skill points power game style on hide, move silent, sleight of hand, jump, tumble, escape artist, and balance.
6. Items i recommend are a ring of protection, a cloak of resistance, boots of teleportation, gloves of dex, and a periept of wisdom. These items will result in high ac, high mobility, and high saves and touch ac to wave your middle finger at spellcasters.

Person Man's really captures the flavor of the original. The OA Ninja Spy is sweet too, although not amazing in combat (best non-magical stealth imho).

I went in a weird direction with my own ninja (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=277587) For me I needed something to justify a reason why the samurai and ninja were not just reflufed fighters and rogues.

So i went with a supernatural feel with them, in fitting with some of the cultural mythologies. Invocations empowered by ancestors for the samurai AND spells for the ninja complete with 'stolen' PF beta test ninja talents.

also. Just wanted to say I love your warlock and I feel it is if not teh best one of the best homebrew classes in existance.
