An out-of-combat PP recharge trick for pathfinder? Maybe?

I'm referencing the Pathfinder SRD here.

Use the Body Fuel (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed/feats/body-fuel-psionic) feat to deal 6+ ability damage to your physical scores, granting at least 12 PP. Following that, manifest Cleanse Spirit (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed/psionic-powers/c/cleanse-spirit) on yourself, costing 11, netting PP. You can do this as early as level 11 (If an Egoist or Vitalist), or 13 and using another feat on Expanded Knowledge: Cleanse Spirit.

What I want to know is: Does this work? If so, what can you do to make it more effective?

This power cures all ability damage, and it restores all points drained from a single ability score (your choice if more than one score is drained)...

So from what i can tell if you only spend 11pp on cleanse spirit you are still walking around with 2 drained scores. So in order to go back to normal you need to spend 6 more pp to augment cleanse spirit to heal all ability damage.


By spending an additional 6 power points, the power dispels all permanent and temporary negative levels afflicting the healed creature. The power also dispels all psionic effects penalizing the creature’s abilities, cures all temporary ability damage...

So I think you need to take 9+ ability damage to gain 18+pp to manifest cleanse spirit for 17pp for a net gain of 1+pp.

It does not work at all, because ability burn cannot be recovered by any magical or psionic means, certainly not cleanse spirit.

If it did, as mentioned, you'd need to go to some lengths to make it efficient enough to be usable.

Cleanse Spirit cannot heal ability burn; it can only heal ability damage or drain.

Who ever thought Body Fuel was a good idea? It's a terrible use of a feat, the only exception being if you can negate the damage somehow, such as through Hyperconscious Psychic Bastion feat. It doesn't even work for your purposes, since ability burn cannot be healed in any way but rest.

There is no universe where taking this is a good idea, made all the worse for requiring a feat. I wouldn't even use it if I got the option for free.

It does suck - though if the choice is between using it and having no PP left, many manifesters would do the former in a dangerous situation. Several monsters and even powers drain PP from their targets after all.

I wouldn't spend a feat on it either, personally. In a high psionics campaign, I would consider making Body Fuel and Overchannel intrinsic components of the psionics system in general, like gaining psionic focus. This would give anyone who wanted to the ability to hurt themselves to exceed their limits, similar to Wheel of Time's channelers.
