Atop the Residential Arcology, a pair of German engineers, Hans Keisel and Emma Gruemann enjoy the brisk night air above Society Hill. The young couple held hands watching the Pacific in the distance and talked. They talked about their work, their friends, families, and associates. They also talked of dreams; one key dream being marriage. A future with their own family. While only acquainted a few months, Emma and Hans had fallen madly in love, relishing every moment they can spend together. Especially moments alone. Moments like this on a rooftop with only the Moon watching them. They crept closer for a kiss, a kiss th-
WHUPWHUPWHUPWHUPWHUPZOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

Two black Denel Rooivalk attack-helicopters slashed across the Arcology rooftop less than twenty feet off the deck! Emma dropped in a heap, as Hans fell forward and rolled a few yards, both having literally had the air knocked out of them! Hans, laying semi-prone, caught a quick glimpse of the airships and shook his fist at them wildly!

"LUNATICS! Wastun tun Sie?!?!"

Emma, laying completely prone, put a hand to her chest checking for a heartbeat, then burped.

The helos dove down through "Silver Hill's" sprawling architecture, bobbing and weaving like giant raptors stalking prey! Streaking across the district at over one hundred miles per hour, they reached Brass Castle Estates and swept due east over Century Park. The speeding crafts' formation was suicidally-flawless, with the trail ship maintaining a distance of less than fifty feet from the lead. Inside the red-light-lit cabins, the crews' shocking appearance explained everything.

Two, five-"Jane" teams of hyper-sentient, Special Operations Capable Troglodytes gorilla prepped themselves for their op! The ape-pilots exchanged comm over the unit's headsets,

"ETA in TWO."

"Copy. AGL two-hundred, one hundred-fifty IAS. We're five by five."

"Skin Yeager? It couldn't fly Bubbles' Blanket!"

Ape-grunts and chortles filled the cabin of Bird Two, as Omega Team re-checked their gear, while watching the city lights blur by through the open hatch. Except Julius. He was waist-deep in his new book, which resembles a thick pamphlet in his huge ape paws. Mars looked and couldn't resist,

"What skin hack you reading now, Julius?"

"Skin Patterson's newest, 'Zoo'. I'm in awe here."

"Patterskin? The hackmaster itself? Does it even write its own novels anymore?"

"Nah. It's turned to farming, of course. But this! This is epic prophesy! It's as though the Great Zaius is speaking through this skin!"

"Yeah, right, and Justin Bieber is a Jane."

"Isn't it female? I heard-"

Caiphas cut-in,

"We clean on this one? I'd prefer avoiding another Karachi.""

"Intel says we're covered; the Skinturions are off in space, the Skinkyries are busy with that Labyrinth thing. Um, the Skin Brigade and Skinnrunners should be off our grid for at least 15-30. And, well, Skinkade wont be bothering us."

Deep ape-chuckles again fill the cabin as the crew lurches with a sudden shift upward. Julius, without looking away from his book, wasn't fully convinced,

"What about the others?"

"Quake? He's the most noble among them, without question. If he shows, we should present the Truth to him. Try and break his skin-brainwashed state. He's a blasted RHINO! We could use that kind of capability, no?"

"CHIMERA? The stragglers? They couldn't stop us with a headstart. Neuroskin? SkinTheSIS? The shield-bearer--- Justice something? Pssshhaw!"

OOOOoooOOOOO! Dibs on that shield! It has dinner tray written all over it."

The crew erupts in more gorilla laughter and near-irreverent discussion, until a gruff gorilla voice comes over the headsets,

"Hey, I got one! Knock Knock?"

Almost in unison, nine apes reply,

"Who's there?"

"Miley Cyrus."

"Miley Cyrus whooOOO?"

"STOP $@#!!# AROUND AND GET HOT! OOOOO-OOOO-AAARRRRHHHH!!"

Voices are replaced by the metallic 'click-clack' sounds of ammunition and heavy guns being snapped into position, as the twin night-birds chop the air headed Northeast high above Midtown---

It is very late/early, but obviously everyone isn't retiring for the night. Rumor has it 'something BIG is going down at Korashi Technics, tonight.' What it is exactly you don't know, but could find out if you want (contacts, investigation, ect.). Remember CS is west-coast, so the map is revered.

Post where you are what & you're doing in Century Station around midnight!

SiNtHeSIS

'I really should be sleeping right now, weekend, or no weekend.'

For the third time this evening, the thought crossed his mind. Ever since three weeks ago, his general approach to life had changed drastically, and for good reason. He had heard of course that medical experiments were not without side effects, he knew this from his own studies, but the extent of the ones resulting from the tests he had been involved him had been quite significant.

'Heh, understatement of the year.'

Being suddenly able to heal from virtually everything and not needing to eat would have been incredible enough, until he himself had started experimenting. It is truly fascinating what the human body can produce when you have full control over it and its structure.
The first time he had come across a mugger he hadn't struck a much imposing figure, though that didn't change the fact that said mugger was on the ground seconds later deep within dreams.
As much as he wanted to deny it, playing the hero was just too fulfilling to give up. Granted he still looked a bit ridiculous, clad all in green with compound markers all over him, but it was practical and most importantly easy to hide. Well, except the pants, those always looked a bit weird considering he had to wear another layer of breakaway pants over them, but the top was easily concealed with a jacket and the balaclava securely tucked away inside said jacket.

Now if only something would happen so that he had a better justification to not be inside learning at this time of the week. After the recent bomb threats, he had hoped something were to come of randomly walking through Retropolis, but so far nothing had.

Neurostone

"Wasneuski gets boarded and goes down, but he's right back up and he's coming up swinging! He did not like that one bit! Herrmann's dropped his gloves and he's gonna give as good as he gets!"

Neurostone smiled at the tinny voice coming from his walkie talkie, perched on the concrete lip of the parking garage roof next to him. He sat on the edge of the barrier, eating a hot dog purchased from one of the last food carts still trying to make a buck. The Highlander's best defenseman had been playing well, and the Whaler's goon had come out to drop the gloves with him. Herrmann would soon regret provoking Wasneuski. The Jessup Stadium was within view, but the lights were dark, and the garage was empty. The game was over hours ago, but the local radio station was replaying the game's broadcast. Not many listeners this late on a Saturday night, anyway.

Normally, he would be patrolling down by Casino Row, or some other lively night life area. Inebriated revelers made for vulnerable targets to the Station's legion of muggers and purse snatchers. Xenophon was usually pretty safe, even on game nights. Usually. He had already stopped one brazen individual from trying his luck with a drunken hockey fan before the would-be victim ever noticed the altercation. It was dead by the stadium now; any fans still in the neighborhood were ensconced in the local bars. Now it was a different building that held his gaze as he finished his midnight snack; Korashi Tower.

Something was supposed to go down tonight, according to the tip he had gotten from a color punk he had busted last night, trying to break into cars. A telepathic scan showed the punk wasn't lying; no deeper probe needed, as the scum's mind was as shallow as a wading pool. He had put the fear into him, and told him to find another hobby. No way he'd get a cop to come down to the Flats to arrest someone on a Legionaire's testimony of attempted burglary. He had the man's face, and had been inside his head. He might prove a useful informant later...

He turned his head suddenly, hearing a noise above the sounds of the city and the radio beside him. He leaned over and switched it off to hear better. He stood, and then nodded to himself.

"Choppers. Military ones. Looks like that tip panned out. Why couldn't they have just driven like normal crooks?"

He brushed his hands free of crumbs and put his sap gloves back on, readjusted his cowl, and picked the radio up and put it back in it's customary pouch, plugging the throat mic and earpiece cord back in. He climbed up on the edge of the garage roof, and looked down at the street six floors below, then hurriedly shook his head and looked up.

"You can do this, you've even practiced it while shiny. It's like moving anything; reach out and lift with your will instead of your arm. Just don't let go, or you'll splatter yourself. Flying while shiny burns too much power. Even though it's safer....now stop talking to yourself and jump, you wuss. You qualified for parachute training without superpowers!"

With that, he closed his eyes and hopped off the edge, but did not fall, but hung suspended over empty air. He opened his eyes slowly, confirmed he wasn't falling, and smiled.

"Right. It's only a couple blocks...but they're going for the roof, of course. Because choppers. Damn it. Other capes make it look effortless..."

Neurostone began to fly higher, gaining speed and altitude as he did so, in the direction of Korashi Tower, hoping the crooks in the choppers would waste some time in the air, or he would only catch them after they were already done with whatever they were going there for. The prospect of fighting attack choppers in the air with his limited TK flight did not excite him. A fall from a skyscraper, even while shiny, would probably shatter him...

Major Justice
The phone was ringing. Didn't they understand this was sleep time? What red-blooded American wasn't getting his 8 hours of sleep? Well apparently, Marshall was not. He yawned as he answered the phone, but the impassioned words broke him out of his stupor. An attack, choppers, it was time for Major Justice to see action. Quickly, he switched to his costume, leaped out the window, and headed towards the action.

QUAKE

The creature known as Quake knew this city. He knew it with an outsider's perspective. He knew it with a lover's rose-tinted hue. He knew it from the lofty peaks to the filth-strewn gutters. The hours upon hours he had spent watching it had given him a sense of its rhythms. Its currents and tides. It was like some giant creature: the people flowed through the arterial streets, beating its mysterious urban heart and making it live and breathe.

He knew this city. But he found the people that lived there far more difficult to understand. He had been awake, alive, a thinking creature for 6 years by their reckoning, and he had learned much. But the people of the city, they wrapped themselves in such layers. What they said was seldom what they meant. They had no idea what they wanted and the few that did never enjoyed it when they got it. They spent all their time wanting to 'be happy' but not a one of them knew happiness when it found them.

His animal heart yearned to be one of them and yet he sometimes struggled not to feel contemptuous. They were complicated, but they were also wondrous. Capable of such savagery and such nobility all at once. Perhaps they just needed an example, a shining beacon on a hilltop to show them the things they could do if only they were not afraid to care.

They needed a hero. Like Major Justice. Like Neurostone. Like that other one with the really hard name to spell. Synthe? That one. And maybe, just maybe, he was strong and unafraid, maybe, like Quake.

Quake would stand true, would stand up, would be the best human he could be so that maybe, just maybe, one of the teeming endless millions might look up and see what he has done and think that, maybe, just maybe, if a monster can be a hero, maybe they can too.

Quake knew this city. Knew it like a carpenter knows its trade. Like a clergyman knows his God. Like a cop knows his beat. Like a guru knew his own breath.

And something in the city was wrong. Very wrong. He could smell it on the wind. Feel it in the shifting air. Feel it in the soles of his mighty feet.

Something was wrong.

And although Quake knew what it was to be a hero in the abstract, humans confused him and he frequently stumbled in the execution. And so, scenting such wrongness in the air of his city tonight, he went looking for the one man he trusted to tell him what being a hero right this very minute meant.

And so, leaping from rooftop to rooftop, he made his way across town to Society Hill, where he could find Major Justice.

It took only moments until he saw his friend leaping from his window. And so Quake made a mighty leap and landed (surprisingly lightly) on the ground right in front of him.

"Do you feel it?" he said, barely whispering, and yet his voice rumbled in the air like an engine, "Can you feel it? There is a wrongness tonight."

"Indeed. They say it's bad. I couldn't get specifics, but they wanted me to investigate quickly. Come along. We have work to do."

Leaping from roof to roof, Major Justice led Quake towards the chaos. He decided to make sure that they were not heading into a trap

[roll0] Detect Ambush

"I've got a bad feeling about this, let's proceed with caution." as he and Quake looked around.

Everyone:

The speeding helicopters rocket over Retropolis, catching SiNtHeSIS' attention immediately. Helicopters were common to the city, but two military-style ships seemed odd, especially since they were jet-black with no outer markings. At least one hundred yards behind the helos, SiNtHeSIS spotted Neurostone, trailing the speeding war-birds!

Leaping at a rapid pace from Society Hill, Major Justice and Quake also see the airships. Luckily, it's late and air-traffic is light, so keeping sight of the Rooivalks isn't too hard, despite their speed. The helicopters have an altitude around three hundred feet and are holding a trajectory due Northeast.

Towards Xenophon. Where Korashi Technics' headquarters loomed on the sub-division's western border. The pilots and crew have not done anything to suggest they've seen Neurostone (yet).

Neurostone can spot SiNtHeSIS walking below with a Perception roll (8 or better on 1d20; don't forget any bonuses).
SiNtHeSIS can attempt to get Neurostone's attention simultaneously, if you want (gives Neurostone a +2 bonus to his Perception roll and the helicopters are moving too fast to notice the activity)
Major Justice & Quake can't miss SiNtHeSiS walking below, as well as seeing Neurostone in hot-pursuit of the aircraft. I'd say all of you are roughly a block or two apart at this point. SiNtHeSIS has not seen Quake or MJ yet.
None of you heard the ape-conversation (it was a Cut-scene), but Neurostone has indeed seen the simian crew.
I think the helicopters are too fast for the team, but maybe not.
To identify the apes, a successful I.Q. roll vs. 1d20 is needed, except for Quake, who knows who they are on-sight;

They call themselves "Janes" or "Wildlife". Depends on which ape you ask on what day. They are the product of a Genesys experiment gone haywire (imagine that). The apes were given enhanced I.Q. and trained to perform elite combat operations in the most dangerous situations. "To spare human lives" it was stated. Of course, the apes had other plans, rebelling against their handlers at their South-African facility, burned the compound down, and began conducting "Gorilla Warfare" against African military installations. They built an impressive arsenal of weapons in the process, then fled the country. Over the last two years, they've conducted over a hundred precision operations against various military, scientific, and political sites around the world.

They're good. How good? Even Sector-10 (the U.S. super-secret anti-superhuman/alien organization) is scared of them. And the apes never, ever leave a Jane behind. Initially, there were only eight of these super-apes, but somehow their ranks have expanded (the largest reported unit was forty).

They are philosophical, making arguments for the extermination, or at least, "reconditioning" of humanity. Think of everything Dr. Zaius ("Planet of the Apes") said about mankind, and that's Wildlife's position. They even call humans, "Skins", and refer to them as "it", rather than "he or she". It's not that they hate humans, they just think Mankind as a species is insane and dangerous and better kept on leashes. They see themselves as "Ecological Revolutionaries", rather than the terrorist force they truly are.

They conduct operations just like elite military; surveillance, strategy, quick-strikes, and quick exits. Surprisingly, they rarely kill anyone, especially on purpose. But they do enjoy taking hostages. Wildlife also shares a kinship with other mutant animals, as well as all animal life on the planet. Except Skins.

Oh yeah. The Jane Goodall-fetish. They adore Jane Goodall and any scientist or celebrity or politician who says animals shouldn't be in cages. But, Jane is high on the list, holding near goddess-like status, similar to their image of Dr. Zaius. If you insult Goodall or Dr. Z's holy names, it gets ugly.

Sorry for the long post. The Janes can be in Century Station for any number of reasons, but it's probably weapons or aircraft (or maybe something else).

Again, Quake knows the above. Everyone else must make the successful roll.

"I've got a bad feeling about this, let's proceed with caution." as he and Quake looked around.

Quake nodded a deep, thoughtful nod. He was very proud of that nod. He'd spent hours practicing it until it was just right. Humans had a lot of difference kinds of nods and it payed to be prepared.

And then the helicopters roared by overhead and he sees the other hero going by below. "I am thinking the time for caution is done. And look! There's Syn-Ciss. Or Sthinsyss. Or whatever is his name. Shall we follow?"

And he leans down slightly and extends his arm, implicitly inviting his friend to climb on so they can leap after the aircraft.

"That one can come too, if he wishes." he said, referring to the guy with the unpronounceable name.

Major Justice surveyed the situation. "Yes, it's our duty to help protect the city and its inhabitants. SiNtHeSIS may assist as well if he likes. We need to make sure no one is in danger." Bounding across rooftops and dashing through half-empty streets, Quake, Major Justice, and SiNtHeSIS pursue the black helicopters headed northward. Trailing the speedy ships through the chilly night air was Neurostone, determined to corral his targets. The sight of a late-night train clicking across tracks a hundred feet over the lamp-lit city streets barely caught the heroes' attention as their eyes were fixed on the helos. Pedestrains wandering about could only wonder why a man was running crazily by them at this hour. Was he in trouble? They looked around and found the usual night-sights; taxicabs, buses, street lights, stray animals, ect.

And transients. Unlike Society Hill, Xenophon had its share of homeless semi-residents. They paced the district days and nights, some lost in a daze, others looking for food and shelter. With tonight's gripping cold, shelter beyond a street corner was crucial. City officials were working on plans for a new facility to house the homeless, probably in Diego Verde, but it seemed the plan couldn't come soon enough.

SiNtHeSIS, Major Justice, and Quake, being at or closer to street-level, had just crossed into Xenophon's Western border and easily spotted the towering headquarters of Korashi Technics. The corporation was one of the world's leading technology-exporters and their thirty-four-story, state-of-the-art tower reflected just that. The immense building, shrouded in sleek shadow and lined with lights, stayed in the heroes' vision as the helicopters closed.

Then, the airships parted, flowing around Korashi, met on the east face and zoomed on northward! Were they---? As the heroes prepared for their next move just a block from the tower, Major Justice, caught a good glimpse of the street below. There had to be ten to twenty people lumbering around the sidewalks adjascent Korashi. Most of them looked homeless, shrouded in blankets, garbage bags-turned-coats, and heavy jackets. They pushed loaded shopping-carts and carried backpacks or garbage bags overflowing with whatever Mammon they'd gathered.

But, there were so many of them. Concentrated here. Near Korashi---

I'll wait for the others to make Perception/Detect Ambush rolls.

Neurostone banked and slowed as he saw the choppers split and move past the Korashi building.

"Where are they going? Don't tell me the tip was wrong; I don't have the juice to chase them all over the city."

He shakes his head, and angles himself upward and surges forward in the air, heading for the roof of the building, hoping to observe the choppers and see what it is they're up to, if they are not attacking the Korashi building.

Quake didn't notice very much of anything aside from the people on the street. He'd learned that humans very much hated being homeless. And other humans tended to hate homeless humans.

So maybe it was their duty to protect and defend them?

He paused in his mighty leaping.

"Friends, what are we to do? Shall we help those people?"

Sinthesis, Major Justice & Quake:

As you tense in response to the menacing 'transients', there's a rush of activity; blankets, jackets, garbage bags and newspapers are cast aside as armored troopers rush towards Sinthesis! They whip hi-tech assault rifles from shopping carts and bags, taking aim at the hero! Sinthesis finds himself at the center of an array of bright-green laser lights, little green dots wavering across his head and torso!

"CHIMERA! Get on your face! Get down! Get down now!!"

On the rooftop, Quake and Major Justice are enveloped in bright white light, as spotlights click on from across the street! A loud rumble of air hits you as a C-61 Peregrine Tactical helo emerges from behind a nearby building, its bluish spotlight sweeping over you! You hear the sounds of the ship's mounted heavy weapon system locking on you!

"THIS IS A CENTURY STATION POLICE ACTION! PUT YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HEAD AND GET ON YOUR KNEES! YOU HAVE THREE SECONDS TO COMPLY!"

CHIMERA troops seem to explode from everywhere! At least a hundred armed and armored meta-cops run from vehicles, buildings, and alleyways! You're completely surrounded!

Remember, you're solo heroes/Legionnaires, which is illegal. But, CHIMERA has been lenient with solos in the past. Sometimes. Fight, run, surrender, negotiate?

I have initiative (so far), so post and I'll adjust for your actions.

Quake swiveled his head from side to side, eyes wide and mouth hanging open. This was all so confusing. There was too much happening at the same time. Too much. He wanted to sit down and process everything, consider it, understand it, know it, and then react with care and precision.

But everything was a smear of coloured blur and his thoughts disintegrated into worldess fury. And his breath became laboured and his mouth dried up and his mighty hands started to clench in frustration.

And in the dim recesses of his animal's mind the focus of his rage became that bright searing light from overhead. If there was no light, he could not be seen. And he would be safe.

The light was the enemy.

And with a bellow of anger and pain, Quake's legs tensed and he threw himself into the air at the helicopter. He aimed to land on it and tear that light away from it. And maybe the weapons too, if he could reach them.

OOC: Okay, I'm not sure if I need a Strike roll or not to land on the helicopter. But here it is all the same. So, Action 1 - jump on chopper. Action 2 - destroy spotlight. Action 3 and 4 - destroy weapons (if reachable) - use my Physical Training Power Punch for double damage. Also, I know I don't have to mention this to you, because you strike me as the kind of GM who keeps track of these things, but I weigh 800 pounds. So that's going to put the helicopter's balance off just a bit, all of a sudden-like.

As the enraged juggernaut leaped skyward, the air ignited with flashes of laser-light gunfire! Dozens of blasts struck Quake and Major Justice, but their reflexes, coupled with nigh-indestructible defenses protected them from the lethal onslaught!

Quake crashed onto the hovering helicopter, causing it to shudder and wobble under the force of the collision! Striking the craft repeatedly, Quake cracked the windshield and mangled the front assembly, but surprisingly, the targeted apparatus remained intact!

Straining against Quake's awesome mass and ferocity, the pilot panics, sending the helicopter into a deadly tailspin towards a nearby building!

You didn't reach its A.R., but I missed the pilot roll. Touche'!
Maybe you need an Acrobatics/Gymnastics roll to hold on or leap away without mishap? Depends on your next move.

The officers closed slowly on Sinthesis, never taking their weapon sights off you.

"I SAID DOWN ON THE GROUND, TOUGH GUY! DOWN!! YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?!?!"

The officer keyed his helmet-mic, saying something, as the stand-off continued.

"Could we maybe talk about this?"

Neurostone:

The unit seemed to move closer, probably for an arrest, but another officer stepped from the darkened helo and comes stomping towards you!

"Make a hole! Unbelievable!"

The commanding officer---you saw 'Captain' insigna--- had a female voice. A strangely-familiar one, but you couldn't place it. The armored and helmeted commander walked to the ledge and put her hands on her hips while watching Quake trash the helicopter.

"You want to talk, talk that thing into complying! We didn't do all this so you and your Tomorrow Legion could turn it into a circus! Stop that monster!"

She keyed her headset mic with a gloved hand and faced you,

Neurostone

Neurostone slowly snapped a sloppy salute to the now familiar officer, then leaned back slightly and looked down to see the chaos unfolding on the street below, frowning as he did so, before turning his head back to the CHIMERA troops on the roof.

"You're one of the good ones, Captain. I'm not sure what the hell that is, but let's see if I can't get him to stop suplexing your chopper. Be right back!"

With that, Neurostone leans back and tumbles off the edge of the roof where he was standing. To the CHIMERA troops, he looks as if he just casually committed suicide.

But as he falls, he turns over and faces the ground rushing up at him, spreading his body expertly like a skydiver, angling himself towards the rapidly approaching street below, face first. The wind rushes past in a roar, and his hands are in white knuckled fists.

As the ground comes to less than a 100 ft distant, he shouts "NOW!" and pushes off his with telekinesis, breaking his terminal descent at the last moment, and transforming as he does. He crashes into the street, leaving a pothole 5 ft in diameter around his kneeling form, one arm resting in a fist before him, the other outspread, his head bowed.

The man who fell from the roof barely resembles the entity that slowly rises from it's crouch. The clothes remain the same; black combat boots and pants, with yellow laces and piping, and a sleeveless yellow shirt and cowl, with black combat webbing over it and black gloves. But the exposed flesh of his arms and face is gone, replaced with solid golden crystal, seemingly of amber colored glass, impossibly smooth. It is also eerily transparent, making his bones and vasculature slightly visible. The color matches the stone set into the forehead and top of his costume. His crystal eyes look like impossibly faceted gems and glow with an inner light.

"Alright. Game time."

He stands up and takes a stance like Atlas shouldering the world, and reaches out with his mind, seizing hold of the massive rhino man clinging to the chopper as well as the aircraft, pulling with all his mental might to separate the two, and stabilize the chopper in flight.

In game terms, jump off the roof, use Super TK to stop myself right before impact and then transforming. Since I can move two objects at once, gonna try to pull Quake off the chopper and try to keep it in the air. Don't have the strength to actually do both but hopefully the unexpected force will surprise Quake, and the help will keep the chopper from crashing.

Quake felt the helicopter tip and tilt under his feet and readied himself for the crash (he was also planning to help the crash along by leaning into it as hard as he could).

But he heard, vaguely, in the wind, Major Justice's suggestion that he stand down. He wasn't sure that he agreed with his friend's conclusion. After all, attacking them would get many things done.

But apparently those things were not the things that needed to be done.

Taking several deep breaths to calm himself down, he prepared to leap from the spinning helicopter.

When the crystal man floated up into view and he was suddenly taken by some kind of invisible force.

He clenched his jaw and quieted. He didn't feel threatened. Yet.

Everyone:

As Neurostone lowers Quake and the helicopter to the ground, the small army of CHIMERA troopers relax their weapons, keeping them ready but no longer pointed at the Legionnaires.

You notice six officers riding prototype-7 Avtran airbikes with their wide-angle Low Incandescence Projection System. A couple of units in Juggerman armor appear a block away, directing traffic away from Korashi. Several 12-man units jog in formation towards the area in front of Korashi as many others patrol the surrounding block, some with K-9 units.

This is a big operation!

You don't seem in danger as CHIMERA's shifted focus. I'm giving players the thread for whatever you like. Sinthesis & Major Justice are in their original positions. Not sure where Neurostone's going with Quake (rooftop or street?)

"Ummm, sorry about being here? I saw some suspicious looking helicopters a few minutes ago. Based on their speed and direction I had calculated they were going for something in this area. Then they suddenly veer off and you guys appear. Did I just blunder into your operation, in which case I'm truly sorry."

Neurostone lowers the enormous mutant rhino to the street gently, and once the chopper is level and under it's own power again, he releases it, allowing it to fly under it's own power again. With the release of his telekinetic charges, he visibly sags, his exhaustion evident even with his inhuman physique. He shakes himself and looks around at the milling CHIMERA troopers and the...superheroes?

He notices the young man an electric green outfit, and the shield bearing man in combat fatigues, but cannot place them. He regards them while keeping one eye on the mutant rhino.

He approaches the enormous man-beast and raises his hands in peace.

"Hi there...I think maybe you just got off on the wrong foot with the super-troopers here. You're not with Wildlife, are you? The gorillas with the guerilla training?"

NeurostoneSo...I'm Neurostone. You?"[/COLOR]

Neurostone asked, offering one golden crystal hand to shake.

Quake looked down at the hand. Hand shaking was one of the those things that the humans did that he found scary and confusing. Major Justice once told him that it was an old custom, meant to show the other man that you held no weapon, and therefore was not a threat. But Quake's hands were weapons, and he was far more dangerous within arm's reach than otherwise. And so he always felt like he was lying. And their hands were so small!

But apparently it was just a symbol. And Quake wasn't good with symbols. He liked a thing to be what it was.

So he reached out, carefully, tentatively, like a conscientious bull picking his way through a china shop, and took the proffered hand and shook it. More of a wiggle, really. Quake had had a couple of disastrous hand-shaking incidents that he was not anxious to repeat.

"I am named Quake. I would very much like if you could show me how you do those things. Are you a hero, too?"

"Blast it all. I should've accounted for this. Everyone knew something was brewing here. This is a weird transition, blast it."

She takes off her helmet and shakes her head, her short strawberry-blonde hair flaring in the cold night air.

Okay. Neurostone immediately recognizes her, despite the missing blue-gren-pink hair, the large eyes were unmistakable.

Heartbreaker.

Neurostone turns as the CHIMERA commander lands, and with a barely perceptible golden flash, he turns back to flesh and bone.

He knows that hair, that flick, that head turn, without the artificial colors or the black domino mask. Rita Hayworth has nothing on her.

He stares dumbly at her for a heartbeat after she finishes, trying to process everything she just said all at once, while his mind desperately tries to catch up to his tongue to say SOMETHING and stop standing there like an idiot.

"...After, I think. We found Bluehair asleep at the wheel under the elevated rail tracks...but we weren't in costume, and just called it in. The uniform looks good on you; I guess you can only leave so many punks trussed up for the boys in blue and watch them walk before it starts to eat at you."

"But yeah, the Janes, or Wildlife, or whatever they call themselves. I decided to call them the Ape-mmandoes, because you should never give the bad guys the dignity of using the code names they picked. Two squads, one in each chopper. The took off real fast. It looked too smooth though; they didn't react to your ambush, and I doubt they made me. I think we've been had. "This doesn't seem like them. The gorillas are more 'Smash and Grab'. They've never used cover for a raid. How could they-"

A loud sound causes nearly everyone in the area to look north. It was distant, miles away, but loud. Like an explosion? Maybe a vehicle accident? The streets were fairly quiet and sound travelled well at night. The CHIMERA troops shifted around, many of them looking at each other and talking about the sound.

Then, Heartbreaker keys her earpiece communicator. Her eyes, already hypnotically-wide, nearly pop out of her head!

"Aw crap. You were right, 'Stone! The Ape-manndoes are hitting Iron Beach! Everest airport! Let's go!"

She takes off running north, nearly casting her swingline---then slows and stops. Her head drops and she palms her face. She then slams on her helmet and walks back to your group.

"Charlie, Delta, and Echo squads, form on me! And get the bikes up here, now! Alpha and Bravo, lockdown the perimeter! We have a Class-two threat to deal with."

Within seconds, six hoverbike officers and ten C-15 APCs arrive from their hiding spots. 'Commander Heartbreaker' takes a bike, while reassigning the officer to the Korashi forces. She looks at Neurostone, Quake, Sinthesis, and Major Justice, offering them earpiece communicators,

Based on CHIMERA files and what I've heard about the Janes, I'm really hoping this isn't them. Any ideas?"

The hoverbikes are modded for 150 m.p.h. allowing you quicker transport, if you use them. You only need to make Pilot rolls for tricks or high-speed moves. If you don't have Pilot: Motorcycle, rolls are your P.P. vs. d%. I need to check the vehicle/aircraft rules again.

For speed's sake, figure an officer gives you the basics on how to operate the hoverbikes; they're clutch-less & electronic & very quick & very maneuverable. Appearance-wise, they resemble a futuristic sport-bike with jets where the wheels would be, along with sirens, headlamps, and "CHIMERA" markings.

Everest used to be CS's main airport, but rising crime turned it into a smuggling port now. Only a few local businesses risk using it for shipping and it's usually something illegal. Iron Beach a.k.a. Napier Bay is a rough area.

He mounts the jet cycle confidently, familiar with both bikes and hovercraft, and appreciating the fusion. He revs the engine, sending the vehicle airborne before settling down on it's ground effect exhaust. He shouts over the roar of the engine.

Quake was fine with the team up. More than fine. Inwardly, he was ecstatic about the team up. 'Teaming up' was maybe his most favourite phrase ever in the entire English language. Teaming up was like the opposite of spiders.

However, those hoverbikes... he wasn't as excited about them.

He eyed them warily. He wasn't convinced they'd be doing much hovering once he sat on them. He had a brief, momentary vision of everyone pointing and laughing at him when he broke the hoverbike (or being angry!). He had a delicate self-esteem and wasn't sure he could handle that kind of rejection.

You see black smoke trailing skyward from miles away. As you streak through the near-freezing air above Saratoba, taxicabs and other vehicles cruising the streets below swerve to avoid CHIMERA's armada of APCs! Police sirens and flashing lights flood the area! Heartbreaker's voice comes over your communicators,

"Whatever you do, don't insult or instigate these guys. The apes don't like insults of any kind. Just makes our job harder"

Flying over Iron Beach, you see it's pretty dark. The sub-district was mostly slum housing and boarded-up buildings. Abandoned vehicles, wandering gangs, prostitues, stray animals. Only about half the street lights worked. Not a happy scene.

Closing on Everest, on the north-shore of Napier Beach, you see the partially-lit airfield. At the far end of the tarmac nearest the beach, there was a huge fire burning where a fifty-foot hole has been blasted in the security fencing! Smoke billowed from the blaze, which seemed to be spreading amidst the treeline surrounding the outer fence!

The large terminal was dark and worn, with busted-out windows and cracks running along the walls. There was a large passenger-plane parked near the terminal, but it looked as beat-up as the building. Everest had three large runways, with a tall air-control tower centered in the middle of the tarmac. The tower was dark as well, as if closed, but what you see on the far runway is unbelievable!

At the farthest runway, a huge 747 'Dreamlifter' transport plane was either taking-off or landing, its wheels less than a hundred feet off the deck, engines roaring! Flying roughly fifty feet over the jumbo-jet were those two black attack helicopters; one was just above the cockpit area, easily in view of the plane's pilot(s), the other helo was further back, lowering towards the plane's roof, between the wings!

There's a flash of light from the front helo as heavy-machinegun-fire explodes from the Janes' open hatch! Even from where you are, you hear gorilla yells and grunts!

As the rear helo gets within thirty feet of the plane's roof, a huge ape equipped with what looks like an XM-134 Minigun pack leaps from the hatch onto the plane! The gorilla lands awkwardly, pitches, and goes tumbling, the only thing keeping him from falling to the ground is a thirty-foot tether-cable connecting him to the helo!

A second ape leaps from the helo to the plane---same result, and now both marauders are dangling from cables trying desperately to climb up the sides of the embattled cargo plane!

You can close on the fiasco in seconds; jumping to the plane or helos carries a -25% roll penalty and attacks on the apes/helos carry a -2 penalty (due to rate of speed). You can't see the plane pilots unless you get real close and I'll post for that ,if need be.
he plane is low. Low enough to crash into the ground or nearby buildings at its present altitude. That, and the Janes. Need to check my roll for the Janes' Perception. If they failed, your team can attack free of counter-attack (surprise). Wait one-

You get close enough to semi-grasp the taut, semi-metallic cording and your corrosive touch immediately begins melting away the tether's molecular bond! Regardless, you can tell the tether wont hold the terrorist for long in its damaged state.

Incredibly, Heartbreaker leaps a split-second before the crash, executing an unbelievable series of somersaults, careening over the wounded Rooivalk's main rotor, as fire and smoke billow from its nose and cockpit! The blazing airship falls down and away from the cargo plane, spinning out of control---you don't notice any of the Janes having escaped the explosion!

Heartbreaker sails, ghostly through the night air, then snaps a hand towards the Dreamlighter and her cable line lashes out, connecting with the plane's roof! The punk-heroine/CHIMERA commander curls through the air, her hair whipping wildly and lands in a crouch on-top of the cargo ship!

Quake could jump really really far. But he was not as fast as a hoverbike. Once his friends (new friends!) sped off on their dubiously tiny vehicles, the behemoth started making his way across the city in a series of mighty leaps. He threw himself into the air, sailed across the skyline, landed (surprisingly lightly), and then was off again. He tried to keep the hover-convoy in sight, but it wasn't long before they over-took him and were away.

He arrived just in time to scare the bejeebus out of the Apes (his mighty mutant heart raged at the thought of the Janes, and of the waste they made with the wonderful gifts they had been given), and to see the female one drive her hoverbike into one of the helicopters and leap free at the last moment.

And that gave him an idea.

Landing on the airstrip, he took a moment, braced himself, gathered all his energy and leaped across the landing strip at the remaining helicopter.

SiNtHeSIS::

The startled ape's tether-line snaps and you now have the end that connects to the mutant terrorist! He remains clinging to the speeding aircraft just a few yards below you, now looking around wildly for a means of escape!

Quake:

Once again, you impact-slam another helicopter, as the Janes' Rooivalk shudders under your landing mass, then begins to wobble, its nose rising as its tail rotar makes contact with the cargo plane's hull! Sparks and smoke fly from the mini-crash as the helo pilot struggles with his controls!

Sinthesis, Major Justice and Neurostone:

You see Quake crashing into the helo and a crash about to happen! The flaming helo struck by Heartbreaker's attack lands, now more than a hundred meters behind you and apes quickly exit the burning craft! The cargo plane, quickly-nearing the end of the runway, begins to rise upward---and pick-up speed!

The plane will clear Runway 13 at the end of the next round, and the pilots are trying to gain altitude, but the last helo is about to collide with the top of the huge cargo ship. Heartbreaker is holding on, further to the front of the plane and Quake is on the out-of-control helo.

QUAKE

You know how they say that, when all you have is a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail? That person might well have had our good friend Quake in mind when he said that. He was a (man?) of few tricks. And one of them was bashing things.

And so.

Quake leaped onto the helicopter and prepared to bring it down.

But then he looked into the window and saw the Janes. And he seethed. And then he saw that there was a human hostage inside! If the chopper came down and exploded, he would survive, maybe a Jane or two (maybe), but not the human.

But what to do? He certainly wasn't going to fit in there, and the thing was going down. Fast.

And then Major Justice leaped onto the vehicle beside him.

"Hostage!" he bellowed, and pointed inside. "You go in and get!"

And so saying he reached his mighty arm out and took hold of the door with one hand as though it were a sheet of paper and tried to pull it off completely.

Not sure what I roll for that. Strength check? Damage? I'll use two more attacks if it's a damage thing.

The entire cabin lights-up as the XM-134 sprays a volley of armor-piercing rounds at Major Justice, but the hero positions his indestructible shield perfectly! The reflected rounds ricochet across the helo cabin causing the apes to flinch and yell in terror!

The two machete-apes attack with loud roars, with Major Justice's shield blocking the first saber, but the second slashes his right thigh, inflicting a nasty gash!

From the rear of the helo, Kincave shouts,

"SKWAAAARRRK! Kick their flea-bitten @#%!!#* butts, Justice!"

Quake was at a bit of a loss. He saw his friend Major Justice in the helichopper, fighting, and he very much wanted to go help. He briefly thought of going in through the windows but figured that might bring the whole thing down. And while he was sure he could live through that, he wasn't sure about anyone else.

Plus it would hurt. And that was never any fun.

He wouldn't fit in the door. Plus he wasn't really fond of small spaces. Plus this silly thing was still in the air.

So he clenched his fists and hung on and waited.

I'm going to keep an eye on Major Justice and, if there's ever a time when he's in danger of getting killed or whatever, I'll wrench my body weight to one side and (hopefully) tip the chopper enough to throw his attacker off balance.

Major Justice is a flurry of warfare, beating back the Janes with a level of martial prowess few humans have ever seen! The ape-mandoes seem confused by both the speed and relentlessness of your offensive, causing them to switch from attacking to defending against your peerless blows!

Outside the helicopter, Neurostone's blast severs the eco-terrorist's tether, causing him to drop to the runway below in a rolling heap! His angered grunts can be heard from high above, but he looks largely uninjured as he gathers his footing, staring at the crystalline hero and shaking a hairy ape fist,

"Curse your mangled hide, Neuroskin! This isn't over! This isn't over!!"

SiNtHeSIS lands gentlly, feet-first, on the runway, a few yards from the Jane commando he had corraled while airborne! The large ape rights himself, staring at you and slowly draws an ugly-looking machete from his thigh-sheath,

"So this will be one small step for Jane, Jr., one giant leap for Janekind!"

Released from Neurostone's Psychic-Push effect, the combat helicopter groans and shakes violently as the simian pilot tries to right the craft! He bellows,

"Brace for impact!"

Falling through the night air nearly sideways, the Rooivalk collides with the runway, a blast of sparks and smoke bursting from the hull contact with the ground! The ship's main rotor whips the ground, shattering into shards of broken metal as the helo skids across the runway a hundred feet! Inside the craft, everyone is tossed around wildly by the crash and mad shouts of terror are mixed with the sounds of grating metal!

The downed Rooivalk still creaks and whines somewhat, shifting slightly as Wildlife stirs inside, trying to exit the craft. Major Justice is gathering himself inside, as the apes begin to climb through the side hatch to the outside. At the rear of the helo, Kincave groans a bit and shifts around, grunting while trying to free himself from the chains wrapped around him!

"Ugh. Hey! How 'bout SKWAAAARRRK a hand here?"

Quake is still holding onto the helo exterior, while watching everything happening inside through the cracked windshield.

Neurostone:

As you close the mile between yourself and the ape-manndoes, you spot them leaping over the far stone wall! The ten foot wall forms a perimeter around Everest Airport and just beyond it is a thick treeline, which leads to the beach, or the city to the southwest.

As you fly close, you see one ape scurrying over the top of the wall and another preparing to climb! The last Jane turns to scan the area before hopping up and spots you!

"We got trouble! Go, go, go!!"

The apes seem very concerned with escaping, but that doesn't rule out possible attacks. One is down, one is loose on the tarmac, three are trying to climb from the 2nd downed helo, and the other five are fleeing across the north wall.

QUAKE

Quake was struck to silence for a moment. The stuff about the wild animals was true as well, but Quake didn't feel a lot of kinship with the animal kingdom, so that stuff sort of went over his head. He also wasn't real keen on the idea of ruling the world. Just the thought of having people depending on HIS decision-making abilities made his stomach turn over and his knees a little watery.

However, it was true that, for the majority of the world, he was a monster that needed to be controlled. And, despite his best efforts, it would probably always be the case.

Could there be another way? Could the Janes be the way to another path? Another way? Could there be a place where people like them (like us?) were accepted? Were seen as normal?

But then...

Skin justice is not your friend... you alone can be a great master... tyrannical rulership...

Those words echoed in Quake's mind. He didn't have the words to articulate exactly what he found so disturbing about them. Why they felt so wrong, so insidious, why they were almost like something slimy in his mind.

He wanted to retreat somewhere quiet and process all of this. But there was no time. So he just bellowed out at the Jane.

"NO!" he bellowed, "There is no Skin justice or Jane justice! There is only Justice! Only true things and not true things! And only right things and wrong things. And you are wrong!"

He nodded and Major Justice. "I will get the apes," he said, and leaped off after them.

The apes all look at each other, and exhale a cloud of hot resentment that drifts up into the night! The one who challenged Quake, still standing on the over-turned helicopter, shrugs, then they all throw up their hairy paws!

"We surrender, then. We will not fight another of our kind, no matter how misguided. Better to sacrifice a battle than lose the greater war-a war greater than any one group.

Remember this day, Quake. The day you sold your soul for only the fell opportunity to beg at scraps from the skins' table. Yes, remember this day."

Another ape, hands up, looks at Major Justice, then Heartbreaker as she approaches,

"We are foreign natives and rightfully claim diplomatic immunity, for we act as emissaries of the nation of South Africa, our homeland! Take us to jail, little police-skin, so we can find our way home again."

The apes snickered, and grinned gnarling teeth at the heroes as police vehicles arrived on the scene, illuminating everything in red-blue flashing light! Officers began rushing from vehicles and Heartbreaker ordered the apes arrested.

She keyed her mic again,

"Hughes!? Blast it, Hughes, do you copy!?!"

Neurostone:

The ape-mandoes tumbled to the ground, fumbling in the dark for their weaponry- one draws a long machete which catches glimmers of light on its razor-sharp edge! The other disengages the safety on his XM-134 Machinegun with a loud "click" aiming at the hero! The machine-gunner bellows in a deep ape voice,

Heartbreaker delivers an excellent interview. Should've been an actress. She also looks at Neurostone occasionally and taps her head, while staying on subject with MacIntosh. The you reporter has been an a stong advocate for the heroes of Century Station and her expertise and persistence recently earned her a promotion from the Observer to TV Field reporter.

Heartbreaker's giving 'Stone the Telepathy sign. Moments ago she asked if the team would check-out Korashi. She's lost contact with the two units there. But your superheroes might hang around for a live interview or escort/interrogate the Janes, or go get a hot chocolate or go home.

Up to you.

QUAKE

Quake is made profoundly uncomfortable by the cameras. He wants to be a hero, and an example, and maybe even an icon, but the thought of all those people looking at him, asking him questions... intolerable.

He tries to hide behind Major Justice. But being over 7 feet tall as he is, he is fairly unsuccessful.

"Perhaps we can go destroy more evil now?" he says, his voice almost plaintive, "Somewhere not here?"

The thought of poor Quake giving an interview is very entertaining, and I'd totally be willing to play through it, if it doesn't derail the thread or the story.

Hold your ideas/posts please until after the weekend forum reboot. Thank you. I'll post once the site's up & running.

You've shocked the world capturing the nefarious Janes! How will the victory affect public opinion? What was Wildlife's motive? Why did they surrender so readily? Will Heartbreaker remain with CHIMERA? What sinister evil awaits our superheroes?

The heroes have captured the elusive terrorist group, Wildlife! CHIMERA officers have arrived and arrested the Janes, while Century Station's premier news media is also on-scene to conduct an interview with operation commander, Alyssa Garsen a.k.a. Heartbreaker! She praises the heroes while communicating her loss of communication with units at Korashi Technics. Earlier, the heroes had learned something "big" was happening there, but was it a distraction for the Janes, or vice-versa?

It's very late at the semi-dark airfield. And very cold as the temperature continues to drop towards freezing. The cargo plane targeted by Wildlife is long gone and CHIMERA troopers are handling local fires and investigating the Janes' downed helicopters. The local vigilante, Kincave, is also on scene, having been kidnapped by the mutant gorillas but now freed via the efforts of Major Justice and CHIMERA.

SiNtHeSIS:

Heartbreaker has lost contact with the two CHIMERA units at Korashi Technics and asked the team if they would check it out. There are two hovercycles nearby but the rest of your fellow heroes seem undecided or otherwise preoccupied.

Quake:

You played with the idea of being interviewed since it would be a rare chance to address Century Station's residents, if not the world. You also notice Major Justice moving towards the CHIMERA transport vehicles as if he was leaving for the precinct.

Neurostone:

As you watch Heartbreaker's interview, it becomes clear that she needs to speak with you, probably about Korashi Technics but maybe not. Her new "CHIMERA" thing was freaking you out and you wanted answers there as well.

Major Justice:

You make smalltalk with the CHIMERA troopers and they gladly agree to let you ride to the station with the captured Janes. Maybe you can collect useful information from the sedated apes, maybe not. The officers leave an ATV hatch open so you can climb in.

Neurostone

Neurostone nods slowly when Heartbreaker taps her forehead, and establishes a telepathic link to her.

++We've been had. This was all a distraction; the Janes were turned onto this job by the hacker, Hardware. That plane is supposed to be carrying a load of laser rifles; you might wanna find out where it's going and who owns it. But if Hardware set the Janes up, that means he's probably using the distraction to wreak havoc at Kareshi. I'll wrangle the other masks and head there, you handle this dog and pony show, we'll handle the super-nerd.++

Neurostone nods as he finishes his psionic message, then turns and jogs towards the hovercycles, reaching out mentally to the other heroes present, including Kincave. (He's already spent the juice to mindtalk, might as well make use of it!)

++Good work everyone, but we're not done yet. Heartbreaker's lost comms with the CHIMERA troopers left at Kareshi, and I just read the Jane's minds. The hacker supervillain Hardware dropped this job in their laps; he's likely used them as a distraction while he goes after Kareshi. Anybody who wants to come along is welcome!++

Neurostone collects the hovercycle he bailed from, and flies it back towards the others, sparing a glance back at Heartbreaker as he does so.

QUAKE

A little overwhelmed and a lot confused, Quake looks from place to place, fear starting to show in his eyes. And then there was a mind-voice and it said a lot of things that sounded really important but he was already trying to figure out so many things that he missed most of it.

But two things were clear: Major Justice was his friend, and Quake was drawn to the Janes.

And so that made his choice clear.

He followed his friend to the ATV. Could he fit? Often, he couldn't.

Making eye contact with Neurostone and nodding, Steven moves towards the nearby hoverbike, inwardly squeeing at the chance to drive one again.

Saddling up, he determines the direction to Korashi and blasts off.

Though he is unsure as to wether Neurostone is still holding the Mindlink.

"Neurostone, Brain me." flashes across the com from him, then he waits for a moment before starting to think as cleraly as he can, while still paying attention to the surroundings.

++Whats our Plan at Korashi? I can gain us in pretty easily, though it would mean melting some locks. Do we know if any Hostiles are already in the buildings?++

Major Justice climbed into the ATV. Questioning the Janes was a must. He might not always like to do it, but information was clearly needed and he also wanted to make sure Quake was okay. "Give it a go, Quake. If not, just follow us."

SiNtHeSIS, Quake & Neurostone:

Having picked-up how these bikes can go, you zoom off into the night sky, the cold air whipping around you, but having little effect on your superhuman physiology. Sailing south across Iron Beach's bleak landscape, you almost immediately notice the trails of smoke rising from Xenophon! Trails of smoke and what looks like the flickering lights of large fires---and it's right around the Korashi Tower! You gun the hoverbikes to close on the scene.

Quake bounds high into the sky gaining an outstanding visual of the darkened city streets, each leap taking you over a half mile! When your feet contact the ground, a thundering "BOOM" echoes across the block and signposts rattle! Drifting hundreds of feet above Iron Beach, you notice the smoke and flickering firelight at Korashi Tower! Something is wrong---terribly wrong!

Korashi Technics, Xenophon

Small fires flicker around Korashi for a block or more, as cars, trucks, CHIMERA helicopters & even Juggerman armor smoke and burn! The light from the fires light the area and occasionally you see people running around in the chaos---they look like civilians, maybe ten to fifteen, either watching or maybe trying to help. You notice it's CHIMERA forces that need help: the well-trained and disciplined troopers you saw only minutes ago have been reduced to victims of some unbelievable disaster! Officers lay in the streets and across sidewalks and some even crawl across the broken glass and metal in the road trying to get up. There's a low collective wail from both bystanders and injured officers---the cry of desperation and anguish.

You notice a Juggerman suit, designed to withstand the worst CS criminals had to offer, appears ripped in half as if by some monstrous force. A downed helicopter resting on the sidewalk near a closed music store displays a huge fiery hole (5' diameter) in the pilot's side. Every window, windshield and mirror or sign made of glass has been shattered completely! The block is a garden of broken shards of glass with the victims and bystanders having to move very carefully.

CHIMERA ATVs and civilian vehicles have smashed-in hoods, roofs and doors ripped off, with SUVs having been tossed through nearby walls! The smell of gasoline, oil, and sulfur intoxicate the area in an invisible cloud that causes everyone to choke somewhat. That and the smoky vapor of burning metal, rubber, and other melting materials!

There are at least twenty CHIMERA officers that you can see, all of whom need medical assistance. The small group of civilians and uninjured officers are trying to provide First Aid, but it's odd that EMS isn't on the scene yet.
There are fires but none that threaten buildings yet, other than the toxic smoke and possibility of upcoming explosions if the fuel tanks are reached.

Looking at Korashi's main entrance, there's a HUGE hole where the automated doorway used to be, with twisted metal & glass scattering that area.

This, is the aftermath of a warzone. But, who declared it and why?

Major Justice:

You hop into the rear seat of the ATV and an officer secured the hatch, as the vehicle bolts forward. The vehicle's interior is 15' long and about 9' wide. Metallic benches line both sides of the cargo area and long metal storage-boxes line the ceiling (weapon, ammo & gear). The cabin is lit by a row of small ceiling lights that provide decent but not bright illumination. The floor is lined with rubber-like black matting hat provides excellent traction for footing, but makes a "squeak" noise when walked on.

Four Janes are seated in the vehicle, all of them secured by the nullification bracers, hairy arms behind their backs. They seem dazed and distracted, staring off into space. Two sit next to you while the other two sit directly across from them. The sound of the vehicle's engine, siren and the apes' heavy breathing is the only noteworthy noise.

Three CHIMERA troopers sit at the far end nearest the front of the cabin, two seated and one standing. They're all armed with laser rifles and have them at the ready while staring at the Janes. There's no window or access to the driver's cabin. This rear space seems completely isolated. That and since the hatch has no interior latch, it seems the only way out is by outside assistance. Occasionally the vehicle hits a hard turn or pothole causing those inside to shift suddenly, but just a bit.

Notes: the hacker who hired the Janes is Motherboard, an enigmatic crime figure around CS who (also) has never been captured. She specializes in cyber-crime & may be the world's most-notorious hacker.

Quake is too big for the CHIMERA ATV so he'll need to leap to the precinct. The Retropolis station is best-equipped to handle metahumans, so that's the destination. Quake will get there first, but there's a twist:

You have to go through Xenophon to get to Retropolis (due south almost). That means passing within at least a few blocks of Korashi Technics, which is where we are now.

Quake, Sinthesis & Neurostone arrive first. Major Justice will be dependent on the CHIMERA driver for initial info, but MJ might be able to exit the ATV with an attack on the hatch. Maybe (it is designed to hold metahumans). I'm giving the others a round or two before MJ arrives on the scene.

Also: You're communicators FAIL once you get in Xenophon. They just seem dead.

Questions, just ask OOC.

Seeing the downed troopers, Steven nearly crashes his hoverbike down next to them to help before thinking things through.
He hovers above the carnage for a moment taking in the situation and deciding on who are the most likely to be rescued.
He curses as he notices the Comlink being dead. He won't be able to tell the others what he is doing. Korashi is important, but the lives of the troopers come first.

Triage isn't something he thought he'd ever have to do, but now it is on him.

He tries to make out any and all Emerency Medical supplies that may have been attached to the vehicles, then lands and moves towards the civilians.

Flying over Korashi Tower, Quake had a moment (a short moment, but a moment nonetheless) when he thought maybe he did all this and forgot, and he felt terrible. Certainly it all seemed like things he could do, would do, if he got mad. Or confused. Or scared.

But then he realized that he couldn't have done all this. He was at the airstrip all night. And there was a moment of relief.

But then, what do do? Certainly he was unsuited for helping with injuries. And making people feel better (except as unintentional comic relief, and even Quake could puzzle out that there was a time and place for that sort of thing, and it was neither here nor now).

But he could maybe see if whatever did this was still around. And help stop it maybe?

And so he altered his course to land in as innocuous a place as possible.

And he looked around.

What does he see? Is the doorway smashed in or out? Are there tracks? Anything that indicate what did this or where it might be now?

Neurostone[

"Oh god, this is a disaster..." Neurostone says surveying the scene of carnage from above on the back of his hovercycle. He tries to raise Heartbreaker on the radio, but curses as he only gets static. He settles for shouting to his allies.

"Quake, cover the entrance! Nothing gets out of that hole, nothing gets past you! Synthesis, we need triage, now! Find who needs case evac, now! See if anyone can tell you what happened! I'm going to raise Heartbreaker and get backup down here now, but I gotta get out of this jamming zone! Keep your heads on a swivel, these bastards just tore CHIMERA a new one, so kid gloves are officially off!"

With that, Neurostone throws his throttle open, fighting for altitude and distance, back the way they came, shouting interrogatives into the radio, trying to raise Heartbreaker, CHIMERA, CSPD, EMS, anyone! He casts a look back towards the destruction behind him while he runs, calling for help, the psychic anguish behind him digging into the back of his brain like a thousand needles.

His city bleeds...

SiNtHeSIS:

On the cold, dark intersection two caucasian women, one dressed in hospital scrubs, and another Indian male are buzzing around the wounded troopers, trying to coordinate emergency care,

"I've got a faint pulse here, but he's pretty bad! Maybe five or six broken ribs and a shattered patella! Where are we on EMS?!"

"I've got a possible cranial fracture here! Excessive hemorrhaging, shock---where's that ambulance?!? C'mon, officer! C'mon! You're going to make it! Stay with me!"

"Okay, spinal damage, limited mobility and stressed respiration. Hey, don't try to move, sir, just relax as best you can. Can you feel that? Okay, definitely thoracic trauma. Several shrapnel and burn wounds about the torso. He's conscious but we need immediate EVAC here.

Then the healers see you enter the area and most of them seem startled, freezing to stare at you wide-eyed! There's a muffled whisper of prayers in at least two languages.

You fly into action performing emergency care as well as can be expected with these chaotic conditions, using shreds of cloth and debris to set bones and control bleeding. It's a masterful display of genius---genius you've never had to tap until just now, when it counted the most!

Quake:

As you near the blasted-in "cave" that used to be a state-of-the-art automated entryway, you see someone standing just inside the building lobby. It's dark inside Korashi, with no interior lighting to reveal the damaged lobby level. The figure is definitely male, just over 6', but his musculature is freakish! The man is built like a world-class bodybuilder, only to an incredible degree with muscles rippling across his body like polished granite! Everything about him suggests power! His skin isn't flesh and blood, no, it resembles smooth stone!

He's wearing black slacks, black designer boots and a tight-fitting black muscle-shirt. His huge arms are crossed across his chest and he watches you with an expression that's masked by shadows. Around him you can see the lobby area is largely undamaged; elegant paintings and furniture adorn the lobby area, along with large HD monitors running along the upper walls displaying Korashi operations around the globe. The walls of the lobby are treated wood or stainless steel and a large, unoccupied security desk sits just behind the large man.

Neurostone:

Streaking across the black chill of night hanging over Century Station, you reach the airport just as the news helicopter is taking off. Most of the CHIMERA units have taken to their vehicles and slowly begin to exit the area. Heartbreaker is coordinating with a small group of officers when she sees you arrive and steps towards you,

"Pretty boring over there, I'm guessing. Why can't I reach them? God, if there had to be a night when everything went almost perfect, this needs to be it. Tell me somebody left their comm open---"

She looks beautiful in the dim light of Napier Bay. Truly. Alyssa could've easily been an actress or model or whatever with her stunning looks. And here she was, a vigilante crime-fighter turned peace officer. She gives you an almost whimsical smile, one you've seen before. She seems relieved, but her timing couldn't be more off based on what you know!

Quake peered into the blasted in entryway. He wasn't sure what he was looking for, exactly, but when Neurostone passed overhead and yelled out instructions, it became clear what he had to do.

So he stepped into the entry. And saw... whatever it was he was looking at.

So fully had his strength permeated his mentality and his life, he didn't even really have the tools to question whether this man was 'stronger' than he was. All he knew was that he didn't seem right. Not at all.

"Did you do this to the door?" he asked, his voice low, "Were you very angry?"
