Hey Everyone, this is my first post; from here I will be chronicling my first campaign with some friends. To start, our pseudo- God (Dungeon master) will be referred to as Pseudo. Pseudo started us off with our antagonists being the Lords of Dust, but the rest of the campaign is his own creation; he just needed a Joker to our Batman.

The party consists of a few regulars and part-timers:

Dragonborn Fighter Rayner: A cunning warrior who prefers to keep to himself, our party's red shirt because when calamity strikes he is usually the unfortunate guy who takes it head on.

Human Cleric of Bahamut Luka: One of the party's two faces. A half-crazed cleric with a bone to pick with anyone and everyone who steps in his way, a prime example of how "Lawful Good" is hardly "Lawful Nice".

Dwarven Mage Capalisio: Capatilism incarnate( a joke because of the invisible hand skill). Originally a bard but grew tired of singing everything in verse( self-inflicted though). One of the best RP'ers in the group, Capalisio is a nonsense loving mage who fuels much of our catastrophe.

Eladrin Avenger Xenni: Found in the woods and raised by a temple, Xenni quickly grew to love avenging and all the perks that came with it. Forgoing the finery and sleekness of avengers robes, he prefers to roam naked. The ladies love a wildman.

Human Paladin of Bahamut Riccian (Myself): Eager night of Bahamut who was sent into the world to find his way after a *ahem* trist in the temple. The second party face. When the expletive hits the fan, I'm usually at the center of it due to a mal-afflliction by a certain demonic entity.

Eladrin Ranger Skepps: as mysterious a character as he is in real life, he'll gut you like a fish but at least he's polite about it.

Dwarven Warlord Rangrumd: The epitome of dwarfhood, he likes his ale and he likes his axe.

Eladrin Mage Kogma: A gentle ice-mage with an affinity for all things frozen.

Tiefling Rogue: A cunning rogue, with a get-it-done attitude.(Name to follow as it escapes me).

Our adventure begins with our characters being introduced in a tavern (some traditions are sacred). After proper introductions have been made, we get to the job at hand: Our party has been contracted to escort our navigator Sarathon and his big package to a town a few days travel off. None of us know our employers, none of us know what is in the package, this is a blind quest, but the money is good, and that is all that matters.

After properly equipping ourselves for the task at hand( aka buying one metric crapton of rope) our party heads north to in search of the town of Dantahaven. Walking along a path with large rockfaces, we are accosted by a brigand, demanding a toll to pass. Stepping up to him, Riccian attempts to negotiate passage, as Rangrumd attempts to make a smellcheck, as all we see is one bandit. He passes and smells the stench of ale and mansweat, and alot of it. Riccian attempts to intimidate this self-appointed tollman, but to no avail, and the tollman calls on the attack.

The party rolls for initiative, bracing ourselves for the coming assault. Nothing happens. Again the bandit yells, but his companions are not to be heard. Walking behind the rocks, he says, "Guyyyysss, it's time to kill these-" and finishes with a shriek of pain as Pseudo describes the macabre scene of his head flying over the rock. Out jumps two shadowy beasts for our first encounter.

Dispatching the two beasts with fair ease, we make note how after their death they seem to fade out of existence( and with them any chance of looting them). Airing caution, our party carries on. A few miles north of the encounter, we encounter a small town, seemingly centered around a military fort. Not a soul to be seen. Continuing forward, we see in the very center of the town a black obelisk where assumably the town square used to be. Before we are able to enter the obelisk, a scream sounds from one of the nearby houses. Running towards it, we hurriedly enter the basement where the screen emanated, and see a young woman covered in blood holding a meat cleaver, surrounded by two of the very same shadowy beasts before. One of the rafters is loose and with a sufficient ranged force would fall into one of the shadowy beasts. Our rogue begins to aim shurikens at it, however I get in front of her, as the rafter might injure the girl. Ignoring me, the tiefling throws the shurikens, and knocks the rafters loose, as our cleric screams to warn the girl. Luckily she hears him, and ducks as the rafters careen into the body of a shadow beast, smashing it into oblivion. Slaying the second beast, we bring the girl out of the house, and attempt to heal her as she is covered in blood. However she refuses out of shock, and after several failed attempts to calm her down, she runs into the obelisk shouting about saving her family.

In we run after her, but are blocked off by three shadow beasts as we see her run up the stairs. Dispatching the beats, we ascend the obelisk after her. Upon reaching the top in an open room, we see her sobbing in the middle of a multitude of bones. Riccian, in attempting to comfort her, is thrown back into a wall by an invisible force. She rises and we look on in horror as we realize she was laughing. Rising, shadowy beasts appear next to her, as she begins to, you guessed it, monologue.

The overlords will rise again, and it is the Lords of Dust who are bringing them back. with a chilling laugh, she says we were all chosen for a reason, and demands the package. Our cleric Luka tells her to go forth and procreate, and our bossfight begins. She sends forth many shadow minions, which after a tough fight are popped one after one. She begins to grow in size as she hurls insults and fire-mostly fire- towards our company. After another tough fight we manage to end her, but not before a last parting gift. Pseudo gives each one of a chilling curse from this hellfury's dying breath. All very vague, all very personal.

The obelisk begins to crumble as we narrowly escape. Out in the center of the town, we all gasp for breath and count our lucky stars; and then celebrate a level up. Eager to finish this escort, we make it to Danthaven, and enter an ominous building. An old man in a robe greets us, as we hand over the package demanding an explanation. Opening the package, he lays its contents on the table. A demonic looking book, and sighs.

" We have much to discuss."
