Back up Character (3.5)

Hi all,

So I'm starting a campaign soon, and it'll be a high-difficulty campaign (according to the DM). I'm not keeping my hopes up that this character will last the entire campaign. The Party without me right now is:

Cleric
Scout
Barbarian

Any ideas for a character to complement this group?

Wizard or sorcerer

You could probably use a skill monkey. Beguiler, unseen seer, factotum, etc. Of course, a wizard is always useful.

Beguiler is good. Lots of easy ways to kill stuff at low levels, lots of skills, etc. Grab a x4 crit weapon, sleep stuff, coup de grace, profit. Skills out the wazzoo and up to 9th level arcane casting.

Just what the DM ordered.

I'm going to agree with Beguiler - adds some needed arcane power, and can cover any skillmonkeying the Scout doesn't have covered.
