What is your favorite creature that is either amphibious or aquatic?

From sahuagin to myrmyxicus, as long as it's comfy n the water it's fair game.

The candiru. The only fish worse than an aboleth.

Aboleth. No question.

Antedeluvian, semi-immortal, amoral, psychic fish monster that turns you into its slime-monster slave. Lolwhut? hells yeah. :smallamused:

Let us all remember the awesome that is Steve the aboleth, now. Link (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=250938)

I'm quite fond of sahugain, ixitxachitl and the morkoth.

I prefered the 2E art for the morkoth, made it seem more Lovecraftian.

Never heard of morkoths before. Pretty cool.

Kraken. Nothing like a classic monster to jar your players' psyche.

The only problem with Kraken is that everyone sees them coming.

Admittedly, you can use this by letting them know it's coming without giving them a way to get out of it.

Not if they attack from below. Or it's nighttime. Or the weather's bad. In fact, historically, Krakens never attack on clear, calm seas.

I mean in the sense of "We're on a boat, therefore expect Kraken." It's such an ingrained part of seafaring adventures, to the point that it has abilities written specifically to deal damage to ships and so on (at least in 4E, which is what I'm running right now. Probably similar in 3.5 but I don't recall)

We should note the excellent deep-sea anglerfish (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=270859) brewed up by Mephibosheth here on the forums, now available in several varieties including the dire anglerfish, the swarm and the arcane familiar.

There's also a coelacanth (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=291908) I'm partial to.

Yeah, it has rules for ships. Honestly though, I never knew it was common. I've never encountered or used one in game; we usually just have to contend with pirates.
