So a while ago I ran into a spell that could make you into an effective immortal. It applied a template called Endless to the character. A 9th lvl spell was require for this. But for the life of me I can't find it again. It may be in the Dungeon magazines, which are impossible to find anything other than the modules from on the interwebs. If someone could find it for me and tell me where I can find it again, I will give you all the digital hugs you want!

The spell is probably Kissed by the Ages, from Dragon Magazine #354, p. 54. It causes a target character to gain the Endless special quality (effectively, the character stops aging) for as long as she possesses a particular item, which is chosen at the time of casting and becomes near-indestructible.

The thing that bugs me about Kissed by the Ages is that you have to keep a non-magical item that uses up a spell slot all the time on your body. You are effectively giving up a body slot in exchange for some fluff.

I'd rule if the item was a painting, you could just hang it up somewhere, preferably hidden. :smallamused:

Ah, the artist is the creator of beautiful things.

But to reveal art and conceal the artist is art's aim.

In their respective Realms. Except for Destruction.

Well, some abilities are for NPCs, who presumably would like the idea of never dying of old age, and have no "player" behind them that "knows" that the character will not be played for long enough for old age to be an issue.

Seems more sanitary than becoming a lich, anyhow.

I'd favourite your post if I could.

That item does exist (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fey/20030613a). It's a minor artifact though.

I prefer the Major Artifact version in Champions of Ruin.

I believe you can use the item as Item Familiar. Not Sure.

Anyway, if you want to become immortal, there's a handbook (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=5996.0) for that.

The item you use as focus for Kissed by the Ages must be a non-magical item that fills body slot.

The item familiar must be a magic item with a price above 2,000 gp.

So both are pretty uncompatible, unless you consider that, after casting the spell, the focus item becomes a permanent magic item.

Nah, you can choose to make a magical item the focus object with Kissed by the Ages (EDIT: checking again, you must pick a magic item), it just permanently loses all other existing magical properties. So it might not mix well with Item Familiar, depending on the order in which you get them and how the item's price is affected by KbtA.

The idea is to make it an Item Familiar after having used it to cast Kissed by the Ages. The item must worth more than 4000 gp and once you're Kissed, it is a magic item and then can become your Item Familiar.
The writer of the handbook suggest that the actual best use of Kissed by the Ages is to make your Item Familiar unlostable (*).

Karnith, you've changed something? The haircut maybe?

(*) Is this word English?
