What do people use for flight bases for existing minis that can now fly? Example our sorcerer recently gained the flight spell. We already have a mini that's walking but is there a clear base we can put under to show it's flying?

What I usually do is put a die next to it (well, on it, I use labelled cardboard squares, but you get the idea). The number facing up is how high the thing is flying. I've got a handful of little transparent d6's I use pretty much exclusively for that purpose.

We also use large, casino style d6's under the mini to represent flying and some math based on the number to represent the height.

We usually put a die under the flying mini. Making little circles of paper for flying minis to stand on is cheap, available and effective.

Edit: Partially swordsaged.

You can also use the little pizza support "tables" that come in pizza boxes. That allows guys to be underneath.

That's an interesting tidbit I hadnt considered. I'll have to save a couple and see how they fit on the grid.

Some of the members of my group have clear plastic dice boxes. Put them open-end down, and they're big enough to fit a standard-sized mini underneath. We don't generally use an exact representation of height on the battlemat, though-- It's seldom relevant, and when it is, a quick "Hey, how high was that guy again?" is usually enough.
