dealing with an character that has racial hide bonus of +4, but In areas of tall grass or heavy undergrowth, the Hide bonus
rises to +8.

Is there some way to manipulate this? Some *thing* that can change it from heavy undergrowth to shadows... or some *way* to have heavy undergrowth underneath me at all times....?!

An "acorn of far travel" should let you count as always being in some particular place of your choice. So you get an acorn set to a place that has heavy undergrowth, and boom, you get the bigger Hide bonus constantly. Honestly I don't know how the acorn works -- I've never seen rules text for the thing, just a reference to the concept.
