Temple of the Elemental Evil question

Greetings people.

Older players or newer that have successfully ran through the Temple of theElemental Evil module could hopefully help me.

My party ( after we ended the session) asked me how come the two adventurers in Hommlet (Burne and Rufus) have not yet done something since bandits are again on the move. And itmakes sense since they both are LG and considered protectors of Hommlet. Is this a plot hole or should I have noticed something I did not?

Not so much a plot hole as a plot opportunity.
As far as I recall; they are also of the Khalid school of protection, If you catch my drift.

If this is about Khalid from Baldurs Gate 1 you mean they are not so brave maybe?
