I have a question regarding the level 25 Wizard daily spell, Phantom Reality, the spell that forces the target to save or have their attack redirected. It has the following requirement: "Either change must be valid for the power,
and you cannot force the target to attack itself."

What happens if the only creature in the fight is the one subjected to this power? Does the spell cease to work as there are no targets to redirect to? Or can you direct an attack at an empty square instead?

Yes, it can attack empty squares.
