DC to spread a rumor/gossip?

I've heard tell of a Dragon article wherein one can find the DCs for spreading lies, misinformation, gossip, and/or rumors.

Does anyone know where these might be found?

It has proven difficult to Google as rumors and gossip are rampant when searched with the words Dragon and article. :smallfrown:

this is not official but.... it should be either a Diplomancy check(for truth)
or a Bluff check(for a lie)

DC 10: Small things, non-important NPC's, or information that's terribly hard to verify, but still not too important

DC 15: The castle cook has a second wife in another town.

DC 20: An enemy nation is invading.

DC 25: An allied nation is invading.

DC 30: The King is dead(granted this could cause all kinds of BS if he made a public appearance right after spreading this.)


and of course,... none if this includes the consequences of time passing... people may find out one way or another.

I know I've read it... I want to say that it was around #330, but I honestly can't remember. I remember that it was more or less a sidebar at the end of a larger article, which would make it frustratingly difficult to find. I'm AFB, though, so I can't try to dig it out.

I'd rule it as some form of extended test that uses both Gather Information (It's a skill, I swear!) and "Innuendo" from bluff. Sort of like push polling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Push_poll).

are you sure it wasn't the charlatan's ability from the ravenloft book? they can do this with bluff checks.

I do not know. The rumor I read was that it was in a Dragon mag.
