Hey guys I'm playing Pathfinder tonight for the first time and I need to create a level 1 Sorcerer with 24 points to spend on abilities. I'm a little lost, can you give me a hand to create something really good!

Any and all help is appreciated

7 STR, 14 DEX, 14 CON, 10 INT, 10 WIS, 18 CHA.

Something like that, maybe? It takes up 23 points, so you'll have one spare. You can drop CON down to 13 if you like, and put the then-three points you'll have into INT or WIS, whichever you prefer.

CHA is your casting stat, you want lots of it unless you're using Sage or Empyreal bloodlines (in which case it'd be INT or WIS, respectively).

CON means health. Health means you don't die as fast. This is a good thing.

DEX means attacks, reflex saves, AC and suchlike. Useful.

Go human so that you can use their racial level-up bonus to get extra spells known. Make sure you have at least a 16 base charisma (so with a +2 racial bonus it is at least 18).

Then you really do need to read a guide or something on picking spells. That's a bit of a complicated affair with sorcerers.

I have a few questions:

Do you have any experience with 3.5 spell casters / game play.

Do you know anything about the campaign in advance? Will you be fighting a ton of undead? Humans? Will there be a lot of role playing?

What area of magic would you most like to focus on personally?

I have experience with D&D 4th, I don't know anything about the campaign and I'd love some lightning powers or animating the undead/inanimate

Look up a good sorc/wizard guide, for plenty of tips on spell selection.

I suggest maxing out your Cha, and putting points into Con and Dex.

For spells, I suggest Magic Missile with the Toppling Spell Metamagic. (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/metamagic-feats/toppling-spell-metamagic) With the Magical Lineage Trait, Toppling Magic Missile (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/traits/magic-traits/magical-lineage)is a first level spell! Strike unerringly, deal a bit of damage, and trip the guy.
