I was thinking of taking some of the feats in complete arcane that make it easier to cause grief for spellcasters (mage slayer, pierce magical concealment, pierce magical protection), but was wondering if the penalties to caster level would apply to my crusader's initiator level, or if they are two separate things.

Thoughts?

Two completely separate things. Feat away, good sir!

They are absolutely two different things. The anti-spellcaster Crusader can be a very successful build. Adding the Mage-Slayer tree of feats to a spiked-chain tripper Crusader build can be devastating to any caster that gets within his reach.

They are absolutely two different things. The anti-spellcaster Crusader can be a very successful build. Adding the Mage-Slayer tree of feats to a spiked-chain tripper Crusader build can be devastating to any low level and/or unoptimized caster that gets within his reach.

Fixed that for you.

Fixed that for you.Basically.

Really, any halfway decently optimized T2-T1 at mid-to-high levels will laugh at those feats.
