Could someone explain it for me?

I've seen it mentioned from time to time, but never knew what it was....

BAB
Good: +1
Medium: +0,75
Poor: +0,5

Saves
Good: +0,5
Poor: +0,33

Use just the numbers before the comma (if you have BAB 3,75 your BAB is 3, same for saves).

Except in the case of the first level of a class with a Good save where the bonus is +2.5.

Instead of going 0, 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc. for a 3/4 BAB class, you actually get 3/4 of a point of BAB per level. That makes your character's BAB 0.75, 1.5, 2.25, 3, 3.75, 4.5, 5.25, 6, etc., rounded down of course. It won't matter if you stay single-classed, but for example a Rogue 5/ Assassin 3 will have a +6 BAB, the same as a Rogue 8, instead of the +5 he would get for a Rogue 5's +3 and an Assassin 3's +2. In this case, Rogue 5 gives +3.75 BAB, and Assassin 3 gets +2.25 BAB, for a total of +6.

A poor save is always +1/3 per level, a good save is always +2.5 at the first level of the class, then +1/2 per level after that. A good BAB is always +1 per level, a 3/4 BAB (Rogue, Cleric) is always +3/4 per level, and a 1/2 BAB (Wizard) is always +1/2 per level. There are no more +0 BAB/save levels for any class (except War Hulk and similar).

To give a slight boost to multiclass characters, calculate attack bonuses and saves using the same formulas, but rounding after adding everything together, rather than before you combine the classes' bonuses.

This helps out characters like a wizard/cleric/rogue, who would normally have a +0 base attack bonus at level 3, by totaling the classes' bonuses before rounding them to zero, so that same character would have a +2 base attack bonus.

Here's (http://www.orfinlir.de/3/Fractional%20Base%20Bonuses) the first thing that comes up if you google "d20 fractional bonuses." It's got the basic information.

Here's the simplified version (just the equations):

Base attack bonus
Good: 1 × level
Average: 3/4 × level
Poor: 1/2 × level
Saves
Good: 2 + 1/2 × level
Average:* 1 + 5/12 × level
Poor: 1/3 × level

*The average save progression is not used in any WoTC product, but does occasionally show up in homebrew and third party products.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I'll definitely be introducing them into any future campaign I run...
