ok, i know that the cost, weight and damage of weapons changes when you go from a medium to a large creature, is this also true of bows?

thanks

Yes. Why wouldn't it? Bigger bow, bigger arrow. It's gonna hurt a lot more when you get struck by one.

thanks, i kinda answered my own question when i looked in the PHB 3.5 again, i figured if there are entries for small and medium, then of course there would be a mod for large. but thanks =) and i found the chart on pg 114

I wonder if an arrow fired by a collosal creature to a tiny creature would do bludgeoning instead or piercing damage...

This got me thinking about a colossal bow shooting telephone pole arrows man that would hurt.

Not for very long it wouldn't.

This occured to me as well. And slashing blows would turn into bludgeoning after a certain size discrepancy as well.

Imagine being hit by a colossal warhammer.
It would be the size of a minivan at least.

yeah there's a table in the PHB, or is it the DMG, that shows weapon damage as they increase/decrease in size. so a normal longbow does 1d8, large does 2d6, and so on.

It kinda hurt when you get a giant shotting a tree through your chest... :smalltongue:

I've got a Goliath ranger/barbarian/bloodhound. The Goliath race, of course, has the "large stature" feat, meaning they can use large weapons without penalty, despite being medium creatures themselves.

With that +4 starting strength and the large composite longbow, the girl's doing 2d6+7 per arrow. That more than makes up for the -2 dex the race has... (And she's no slouch with a greatsword either...at 3d6+10...)

my large creature is a centaur - yeah, +strength bows rock! i have him using a Falchion with Keene, so i crit a lot in melee, and at 12 or so HD i hit a lot with arrows too, i think i'm averaging about 50 dmg per round. ranger/sorcerer/arcane archer - much fun!

I have a player who wanted a minotaur PC. His weapons of choice are a Greataxe (his strength was near 40 with magic and levels) and a Huge Mighty Composite Longbow (since longbows are normally Large for a medium size creature his is Huge for a Large creature).
