So in our Pathfinder game we came upon a dragon cult who is trying to call Tiamat to the island our campaign takes place on. They are going to be doing a ritual that involves a synchronized summon of a adult red, blue, white, black and green dragons around the island in former dragon temples. You need a certain amount of gold/jewels to properly summon them for this.

So the party is all lvl 8 and is made up off; a human Bard, a human Witch, a half-giant Psion(Egoist), a human Ranger, a human Sorcerer4/Rogue3/ArcaneTrickster1, and a human Barbarian.

We are planning to twart the summon of an adult dragon by replacing some of the gold necessary for the summon with Gold-dipped/Plated Iron Ingots. We should drop their offering below the amount needed to summon an adult dragon. (This initially started off as a rescue, with the kidnapped now on the way to being returned slightly before the summoning)

So we are expecting a young-adult red dragon. There will also be a number of dragon cultist in the room during the final summoning. The party already has gained entry to the red-dragon temple and where the summon will happen. Found the location of the other temples they will take place in, and gained the trust of the red-dragon cultists. In slightly more than one week.

When/if the battle begins we expect the Barbarian and Psion to be at the edge of the summoning circle. The Barbarian will be Marionette Possession'd by the Witch, the Witch and Psion will be using Blood Money to create the last of the gold to under-pay the summon. The Strength dmg being offset by a Shared Effect Body Purification. Psion then goes slashing with Metamorphasis con poison and 4 claw attacks per round.

I'm not sure what the party should do from there. Are there any good pathfinder spells/powers to deal with dragons? The Psion has Psychic Reformation so things can be changed before the fight without issue.

This is the first major fight we will have had. We were able to take out a group of 4 hill giants without any significant injuries but spell resistance seems like it will be a problem for our group. Any advice?

The first thing you’ll have to deal with is the dragon’s fear aura which may send your barbarian running for the hills. Unfortunately, it looks like you don’t have anyone who can cast remove fear, so you’ll just have to roll the dice and pray for the best. The next challenge is the dragon’s breath, which is easier to deal with. You’ll probably have resist/protection from energy cast before the battle begins. Lastly, you’ll need a tank to soak up the dragon’s full attacks in between breaths. Ideally this would be your barbarian assuming he wasn’t frightened by the fear aura. Otherwise, the honor will fall to the ranger and his animal companion if he has one. True, the casters will have to deal with SR, but dragons have terrible touch AC, so you may want to load up on ranged touch spells. Debuff spells like ray of enfeeblement may also help your tank survive the dragon’s full attacks. Four 8th level characters against a young adult dragon seems like a fairly even match, if not in your favor. If the tide turns against the dragon, he may actually fly away, do you’ll want to have a way to trap him should he attempt to escape.

Snowball is SR: no and does cold damage. Low cap but intensify fixes that.

Alright in terms of blasting support we have Crystal Shared for the Psion and Snowball for the Witch.

Witch and Bard have Allied Caster, so if they have Piercing Spell applied when adjacent to each other they can beat the Spell resistance by taking 10. Evil Eye to drop the dragons saves by 4.

I'll make sure the party grabs some potions of remove fear.
