So I am starting a campaign with friends. For character creation, we are allowed any two books. This is a very low to low OP campaign.

I want to make a flavorful character. It need not be terribly effective. Terribly funny is encouraged though!

I am looking for a fun, funny, amusing build using a limit of 2 books. Any 2, but only two. What would you make?

I was thinking a goliath with racial barb sub levels (with mountain rage for size large) and somehow getting him to small or smaller, fluffing that his skin is green (bad reaction to a spell?) and telling people "you are making me angry, you wont like me when I'm angry."

What would you build?

What's the starting level? Do the books include Core? (And what do you consider Core?)

Anyway, this sort of build works better if you start out as Small, and use Stoneblessed to qualify for the Goliath Substitution Level.

Any books, so yes, core is available (any books, no limitation)

Where is stoneblessed from?

Does your group often use more than 2 books to create a single 1st level character?

Make a character with maxed ranks in Knowledge: Law, Knowledge: Nobility Royalty, Profession: Counsel, Bluff, Sense motive, Intimidate and Diplomacy.

With Int and Cha as priority stats.

And have him have Warlock levels.

Depends on the DM and players. I have one DM that makes it his goal to kill one player per session, but not TPK (a fine line he walks) and you need serious OP-fu to survive and one DM that only allows PHB, since that last DM is a player, we are limiting the options to two books.

Is this a Darth Sideous build?

I once made a Summomon specialist. Hah. Hah. Get it?

...umm, anyway, it was a summoning-focused halfling sorcerer who dumped int and wis and had Spell Thematics [Pokeball] from the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. Of course, he had customized names for all of his summons and wore a Hat of Charisma. Unfortunately, the game never happened.

Nope. Just a good old fashion Lawyer. XD!

Are you looking for a melee, skillmonkey, caster, gish?

Try a straight hexblade or scout? One book each and play differently to core classes, without being too powerful or difficult to play.

The summon specialist idea is HYSTERICAL!

I like the Pokemon as ketchum idea too.

I like your style

You have a good point, however I am going for humorous idea, more than viable build

Perhaps a Warlock/Hexblade? They fit together very well thematically and you can play him as the most depressed/angsty person ever to exist. Even necromancers will be like 'damn, why so serious?'
Bonus points if you can convince your DM to let you be hellbred too, but thats three books.

Edit: Call him Marvin

Alternate idea. Build the largest female character you can with the highest strength and grapple mods possible so that she can Glomp your enemy's to death/into submission while being adorafingly oblivious to your massive size/strength and sad when it's over to the tune of "Aw, he/she/it/there broken."

No, I mean, is core included in your two book limit, or do you get core "for free" on top of the two books?

Stoneblessed is from the same book as Goliaths, Races of Stone.

You can go further with that. (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=1776.0)

AH, ok. No, only two books. Race, feats, spells, class, PrC, etc, need to come from only two books

I played a kobold dragon fire adept who was convinced he was an actual dragon and he'd fearlessly take the lead in every situation because he thought everyone would naturally be afraid of him. While I was bored with DFA at low levels he was incredibly fun to RP.

Items and skills too? Kind of hard to do without the DMG and PHB in that case. Heck, most spellcasters flounder without access to PHB spells, no matter what book they're from.

i was thinking on this. The Expanded Psionics Handbook has a base class I like (wilder and Psion, for build reasons, wilder fits better, I also like the mechanics) and PrC (I am thinking Metamind) and some FANTASTIC psionic item enhancements, psionic items, pretty much all the psionic powers I know of is in there and there are psionic feats and metapsionic feats. Then there are all the psionic races.

So it looks like my build can come from one book. So I have another book free to research it out!

I am looking at a Loki inspired illusionist build. But the character is incredibly emo. So I am looking at things like a dagger that upon hit transports the hit-ee between 1 and 100 miles in a random direction ("what's the point?" crys and pulls out a knife and cuts himself and disappears, as an escape option, for example)

should be fun role play and mechanics.

Also never played a psionic character before, also never played a full on caster-type. Should be fun on many levels

I'd considered doing this with Dragon Shaman, simply because it's even LESS dragon-like.

I also consider Kobolds with Kiai Shout to be comedy gold. Screw size penalties on intimidate, I can roar!

Psionics doesn't get any illusions, so that sort of setup won't work.

Anyway, even a psionic character needs skills like Concentration from the PHB.

Half-ogre fighter/hulkinghurler/war hulk. Take improvised weapons and throw anything(halfling)

I like that build. My two Hulk builds were based around getting mountain rage (sets size to large) and buffing up rage, and fluffing my skin as turning green during rage.

The other possibility was a psychic warrior with psychic expansion.
