Limbo-Folk

Limbo will turn even the strongest of men into shadows of their former selves.

When a soul enters Limbo, it is tortured and twisted in the endless darkness of the shadowy plane. After a while, most lose their former selves in this darkness. Some, however, persevere. When a soul is that willful that is can hold off the corruption, gods may look onto them with favor, and return them to the physical world. However, the damage done by Limbo can not be reversed, and the physical form they take is effected as well, creating a creature of both shadow and material.

Physical Description: Limbo-folk are slightly shorter than humans, and slightly skinnier. They appear to be permanently silhouetted, no matter how close you get, or what angle you see them from. The only exception is their eyes, which glow a slight pale white. This silhouette effect is carried over to any armour or other equipment on their person. The effect on the equipment can be seen through with a True-Seeing spell or manifestation, but the Limbo-folk itself remains a silhouette. Their voices sound like two people talking in near-perfect unity.

Personality: Limbo-folk tend to be quiet, even withdrawn at times. They will sit quietly and let the party do the talking. They hold back if being criticized for their appearance. They prefer to walk quietly through the shadows then march in the sunlight like most heroic adventurers.

Lands: Limbo-folk have no lands of their own, as they are few and far between. Where Limbo-folk do gather, they do so discretely. They will rarely settle down for any period of time, as they try to live their lives for the god that brought them back, as to not end up in Limbo again.

Alignment: Due to their time spent in Limbo, Limbo-folk lean more towards the chaotic side.

Religion: Most Limbo-folk will turn to the god who freed them from Limbo, which could be any of them.

Names: Most memory of your past life is gone, including your name. Most Limbo-folk are given nicknames by the inhabitants of the material plane, based off their appearance.

Psi-Like Ability:
Split Form:
Once per day, a Limbo-folk may create a perfect copy of his physical form. the copy must remain within 30 feet of the original, or it disappears. The copy lasts for 1 minute HD + Wisdom modifier. After that time, the copy disappears in a cloud of black shadowy smoke. The copy retains all class levels, bonuses, modifiers, and equipment the original has. The two share health, as any wound one takes is copied onto the other. If the Limbo-folk takes enough damage to be rendered unconscious, the copy disappears. In combat, this copy is treated as its own entity, but it is still of one mind with the original, and so shares initiative. To create this copy takes a full round action that provokes an attack of opportunities, and the copy does not get a turn right away, but is not treated as being flat-footed, so it gets its full AC if attacked, and gets all attacks of opportunity.
Buff and debuff spells cast on one effect the other, and taking equipment from on does not create an infinite supply of items. the taken item disappears, and then reappears in the possession of the one it was taken from. When split, each copy's voice sounds like one person, not two speaking in unison. The two also share any spells, power points, or other limited powers the original has.

Limbo as you describe it doesn't seem to be the D&D Limbo. Do you mind elaborating on it?
