Belkar is my hero!

It would be impossible to rank the OotS characters. I love them all, and they complement each other brilliantly.

Belkar still stands out. He is the most unusual character (a bitter, murderous halfling) and, I feel, the one with the most heart. Often he feels rather shallow, but moments like this show that he's not just a cardboard villain, but rather a complex character that shows that alignment isn't the beginning and end of roleplaying.

:belkar: You killed the wacky old dude with the cat?!?!?

The Belkster is my hero, and in a strange way the most sympathetic and human character of all the OotS.

I'll give you hero and raise you sympathetic. Humane, no, but human, possibly, even if he is a halfling.

True! I meant very human instead of humane. Humalike, that is, with the complexities, strengths and weaknessess one finds in a real person (and well made characters).

I'm not a native english speaker, and that occasionally shoots me in the foot.

Humane would be "kill you, then harvest your organs". Inhumane would be "harvest your organs, then let you bleed to death".
