how to: making constructs?

Last session our group invaded the tower of a mage who used constructs to defend his home. Mainly things such as statues and living armor/ the like.

At the end we searched his stash and our wizard found a book on basic constructs in the library/study.

So, my question to you is, "How would you go about constructing a dread guard?"(monster manual II page 87) .

What materials, time, and abilities are required to accomplish such a thing?

It says right on the following page (page 88) how to construct one.

You'd need a a rather high level caster and quite a bit of wealth.

Speaking of constructs did anyone ever determine what the market price on Salt golems from Sandstorm was supposed to be? I might be playing a Walker in the Waste and if I do I'm gonna want one. Or two. Or fifty, since they're currently free.
