In 408, Roy takes his sword to Miko's shoulder, but instead of dodging it or going "ouch, that was my shoulder", she simply takes it in the chest and you hear a nice, solid "thunk".

And this whole time, I thought because of all of her acrobatic stunts and evasion and all that, she couldn't wear anything heavier the light armor or something...

They can, though it undermines their monk abilities:

Weapon and Armor Proficiency Monks are proficient (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/combatModifiers.htm#weaponArmorAndShieldProficienc y) with club, crossbow (light or heavy), dagger, handaxe, javelin (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/weapons.htm#javelin), kama (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/weapons.htm#kama), nunchaku (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/weapons.htm#nunchaku), quarterstaff (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/weapons.htm#quarterstaff), sai (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/weapons.htm#sai), shuriken (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/weapons.htm#shuriken), siangham (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/weapons.htm#siangham), and sling (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/weapons.htm#sling).
Monks are not proficient with any armor or shields
When wearing armor, using a shield, or carrying a medium or heavy load, a monk loses her AC bonus, as well as her fast movement and flurry of blows abilities.

I guess that means that Belkar has a chance to outrun her at least?

Belkar still has subpar movement to Miko. So probably not.

I get the impression that her idea right now is escape; though she may try to escape through Belkar if it does not slow her down too much. But if he runs, so does she.

Yes escape by impaling Belkar on her sword. Yeesss....

No he doesn't. His Barbarian level puts him on equal footing with her - both 30'. (While wearing armour, she doesn't get her monk speed bonuses. Not that she'd have any from 2 levels of Monk anyway.)

Took the words out of my mouth. However, we don't know that she only has 2 Monk levels.

Yes this is true. I hope he remembers that he actually has that Class Feature now. ;p

hmm... I guess that's why we haven't seen her use her flurry of blows ability yet.

Raxtenko

That and she usually attacks with weapons that she can't apply flurry to.

couldn't she technically just attack with her weapon, and then flurry afterwards with her remaining attacks though? Or is that against the rules? I've always been very fuzzy on the whole flurry bit.

No she can't flurry is a full round action, IIRC. Besides why would she when a Katana does d10 damage.

6 Attacks a round @ 1d6+STR modifier damage each? Of course that may just be 3rd Edition, I'm a little sketchy on the 3.5 Edition.

Of course she can't do that in armor either.

in 3.5, unarmed attacks uses the same attack progression as their BAB, which is at a -5 as oppose to -3.

so, maybe it wouldn't be worth it.

She's a paladin, too, so maybe the bonuses/drawbacks counter each other on the armor? Like an addition to her movement ability while wearing armor that counteracts her...

Oh... No paladin powers left.

On second thought, yeah, it should slow her. And Belkar has Fast Movement from being a Barbarian, so he actually might be able to outrun her.

He outran her for most of their "big fight", didn't he?

she blocked the attack with her armor. Duh. It just bounced off the steel.

Actually, Miko's probably significantly slower in that armor. Not only does it make any extra speed from being a monk worthless, but since she has what appear to be shoulder guards, it has to be at least a breastplate. That would slow her down to 20 ft. a round. Belkar, meanwhile, started at 20 ft. due to his size and went up an extra 10 ft. thanks to his barbarian level(s). So, he's 10 ft. quicker according to D&D rules and the idea that Miko's wearing a breastplate.
