Hi my DM is allowing for extra RP xp if we can come up with a song to represent our characters in the game. The problem is when it comes to music I know almost nothing. I was wondering if some players would be willing to suggest Bands/Songs/Tracks to go with a few character concepts. Mostly I'm looking for music similar to "Two Steps from Hell" as in good music with a chorus but without any actual lyrics.

A couple of characters are:

A monk stunning fist AoO monk with levels in Fist of the forest and using roblairs gambit. The concept is waiting and listening before striking.

Another is a Raging beserker Wielding a great sword who despises arcane magic but he was "Never much for now book learnin' and hates all them pansy magic users who don't fight proper."

The last one is a high optimization Wizard 5/Incantatrix 3/Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil 7/ Archmage 5 Who has a complete god complex and looks to solve all problems with magic. Any song that could be compared to a darker form of church music with chorus would be good here.

Adding another character to this list. Multiclass "rogue" who is a rich businessman who can do a bit of everything (cast 8th level spells make 4 attacks per round and has +7d6 sneak attack). The theme for this character is something just short of arrogant and narcissistic, Piano or Violin being played in a mocking manner is a huge plus.

These may be a little different from what you are looking for, but since watching the anime I've come to use the music for inspiration on several characters. They have more energy to them, I feel, than some of the more "traditional" styles that the others have posted.

This one might be good for the barbarian: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhevjjbvWmw

This would be better for a knight than a barbarian, but might also work for monk or wizard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMUV4TXalkk

This one I think works for the "tortured mage": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eozLkJmWPPw

One more for good measure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zl3VK1HbHSU

Even if you don't use these, I'd suggest turning to your favorite anime/tv shows/cartoons/video games for inspiration. Generally there are tons of hidden gems used for characters or plot devices that come up regularly.

I have a AoO based monk in Pathfinder, and his theme song is Right in the Head (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHQZPsFJIFI) by M. Ward. Even before I picked the song, I knew it was gonna be something by this singer. I don't know why, but his voice just seems to fit the character perfectly. He usually has a softer sound instrumentally, so if you're looking for something more calm, Chinese Translation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToEPFDIzhNA) might work.

For the AoO monk something western like Fallout New vegas style might work because I was basing that off of a melee/unarmed only character from new vegas who sided with the NCR or the legion (depending on the playthrough)

What you gave me wasn't a bad choice I liked how it seemed to start out like a jukebox style song with the acoustic guitar.

Trying to get a kind of Fallout/epic feel here for your monk:

Or maybe this:

These might be a little over the top as theme ideas, but for the wizard:

Theme of Narcissism, from Suikoden (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=qRVcvG54dsk#t=5). Sorry, it's hard to find the original game's version (which I like best) on youtube, extended version was the best I could do.

Umm... maybe this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2OGYMSfDfM
Chaos Gate had some good dark chant music. Try March into Hell (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bA3kKn2u__I) or the unnamed "Track 10" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U85nLTz34Es) which sounds wonderfully demonic and grows stronger as it builds up. :)

When in doubt, Guile's Theme (from the Street Fighter games) has been almost scientifically proven to go with everything.

Definitely. I should've just posted Guile's theme in response to each character. :smallwink: That's gotta be my favorite meme...

It's awesome because it's accurate. I just spent an entire day going through airports and flights listening to it, and it totally worked.

The final test is in May, when I attempt the 13 hour drive home with Guile's Theme on repeat.

For the monk I was thinking like music that would be suited for someone in a drunken and drugged haze viewing the world with only enough consciousness left for the next fight and the next time to shoot yourself up.

(The backstory for the Monk is filled with loss and he turned to drugs and alcohol to fill the void.)

I liked the death note theme for the wizard I might keep that instead of pain's theme from naruto.

The business man I was thinking something that spells out like towering amounts of bureaucracy and capitalism and like no hope of escape from his influence.

For the Beserker I was thinking something like the Monk but more raw and primal as in more drums and brass instruments

You, sir, are my hero.

OP, I suggest Jimmy Cliff's The Harder They Come for the Monk.
