So I'm gonna be running a game that will pit the players against a powerful wizard that is being mind controlled by a squid or slug that has been placed in him brain by the things that dwell Outer Plane. Where can I find a creature that can mind control a wizard without losing their spellcasting?

An Aboleth is an aberration and also possesses dominate monster, but your looking for something quite different.

What your looking for is a Goa'uld (http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Goa%27uld), there are monsters that kinda do what you want.

A Puppeteer (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/monsters/puppeteer.htm) from 3.5. This is on the outside of the brain
and a Intellect Devourer (http://paizo.com/PRD/monsters/intellectDevourer.html) which burrows in and replaces it however the subject won't retain spellcasting and it won't last very long either.

So I suggest coming up with something custom based of the puppeteer.

Lol it's nice to see someone else has seen Stargate.

Yes I've been looking through all the books I can to find mind control but all of them destroy the casters Spellcasting abilitites.

In D&D there was an odd rule in an obscure book that could do it by having three mindflayers perform a ritual where they ate & emptied the victims brain & then added this green slime stuff. The creature was then totally in control of the mindflayers. It's an easy fluff change from green slime to a tiny tentacle beast.

But that's for D&D not Pathfinder & I've yet to find any suitable replacement

The Tsochari (LoM 121) can wear the corpses of their victims. They retain spells when they take over a spellcaster but can't regain them.
They can also inhabit living bodies but have no direct control over the victim in that case (they can torture the victim into compliance though).

They are 3.5 though.

DSP's psionics come to the rescue as usual. The puppeteer (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed/psionic-bestiary/puppeteer) is perfect for what you want.

The save DC (13) is basically nothing, though, and the duration of the effect is only an hour, plus it's only 3/day. Unless something else is added, it's... not going to work well. Perhaps make the slug a psion in it's own right, and actually manifest the effect?

Natural ones happen though, even to archmagi. The number of times per day doesn't matter - once the hold is established the domination is permanent until the slug is physically removed.

Could also have other mind-controlled things placing them, having charmed or otherwise manipulated the target. They don't have to work in a vacuum.

Ah, I missed that clause. That could work, then.

Yes, the idea is that the powerful Archmagi was out exploring the Outer Planes, ran into the little Starspawn & then made a complete botch of things & was possessed.
