This is an event from the Empire! (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=335042) game run by Morph Bark. Anyone is welcome! If you are not a part of the project itself, feel free to browse the thread and perhaps ask someone if you can play as a citizen from one of their nations or a traveller of no particular nationality or some sort of far off land.

Remember, anyone can attend, however if you wish to do something which would normally require a Diplomacy action you must spend an action to attend the event. However, multiple diplomacy actions such as alliances, marriages and trade can be arranged under one diplomacy action when you attend an event.

A chill wind screams through the Ketazan plains as the sun sinks low behind the Great Mountain Range. The Kauvan Vita roars as foreigners huddle against the freezing cold, trying their best to reach safety before true nightfall.

The midwinter snow falls gently upon the myriad Tekorvanin tasked with guiding travellers safely to Aes Shinchuu. The chill sets in as the sky begins its display of deep purples and blues streaked with red. It is as though one could never be warm again. Aes Shinchuu's tall stone walls were a sight for sore eyes for those unused to the cold, dark nights of Tekorva.

Beyond the gates were a myriad of hide covers, bone shelters, ice structures, stone, anything the Tekorvanin could get their hands on but never metal. Strangely, none of these had walls. Were one to pause, the Tekorvanin guide would urgently usher one forward, for the only thing to be found outdoors during the Tekorvan Winter Nights is an icy death.

With the boom of trade and discovery of brass within Aes Shinchuu, so too came the people. Though it was not clearly visible from the outside, at the massive cave mouth of Aes Shinchuu proper one could see older simple framework surrounding brand new statues of the large woolly wildlife of Tekorva. Even newer still were the various statues of the Pure Blooded Yorukuninin.

While passing through the streets of Aes Shinchuu, it would be hard for a foreigner not to stare. The strange pointed buildings appeared to have been carved directly from the stone. Ostentatious arches and spires adorned even the simplest of structures.

Stopping suddenly, the Tekorvanin bow and gesture the foreigners through the large doors of a particularly large and impressive structure...

3

Though the inside of the building itself was impressive enough, 「were one to enter rather than explore Aes Shinchuu」 the contents were what made the building truly something. A Yorukuninin announced the guests of importance as they descended the many stairs into the colossal main hallway. Everywhere one looked there were paintings, sculptures, actors, woodcrafts, dancing, musicians and anything else related to Art and Beauty one could think of.

Amidst the pillars were mostly the strange people who call themselves the Pure Blooded Yorukunin and their attendants. What Tekorvanin were there wandered as though in a daze, offering refreshments. Atop a temporary dais at the very end of the hall sat a broad, pale, beardless youth with a shaggy mane of white hair and piercing red eyes. His features were broad and rounded, like the Tekorvanin and the Dwarves of Razdis. Like the Yorukunin he wore only black, decorated with a large amount of silver embellishments as befitting his rank. At his side, a bat the size of a large dog picked apart an exotic piece of fruit from the far south.

The Emperor's teeth chattered loudly as he pulled the cloak of furs the Tekorvan host had provided for him tighter around his frame. This frozen north was not the place for a Woodwind man.

He and his two middle children, Garthuna and Syana had departed from home about two months ago, leaving command of the armies to the generals his father had trusted and whom he trusted as well. As his two children moved in close to their father and he wrapped his daughter's cloaked form within his own cloak folds his mind drifted back to home.

The battle at Celero had proved indecisive at best and even the victory out east was small, but Olwyt had seen the lessons of war his father had always espoused and felt a great fire light within him. War did not appeal to him as it had his father, but the ability to do it well was within him, his father and these wars had seen to that. Still, his goals remained what they had been when under his father, solutions through diplomatic means, not blind conquest. His father was a smart man, but wisdom and forethought were not within his father's wheelhouse. They were within Olwyt's. Being here proved that.

The Elder of Tekorva had sent out an invitation to some festival called "Cantus Sai" and Olwyt had seen his chance. Sanctuary and Ignato had exchanged missives in the lead up to the conflicts of east and west and come to an understanding to be solidified at a later date. When the invitation to Cantus Sai had arrived Olwyt knew his chance was presenting itself, a time to begin solidifying deals and favors owed. He had sent messages to the Bereginians under Celero and his ally in Gunung, informing them he would be there if they wished to meet him at the frozen kingdom. It was two fold, bringing together those he wished to talk to and exposing Sanctuary some more. If the agreement he and the Elder had discussed was to come into full fruition Olwyt wanted more to be known about Sanctuary. For himself and his allies.

"Thank the Ancestor!" Syana breathed next to him.

Olwyt looked down at his 16 year old daughter then up, exposing his face to the snowy wind but seeing what his daughter had. A great looming building the host Tekorvan was ushering Olwyt and the other travelers into. He hurried along, Syana and Garthuna moving to keep up with their father.

It was massive and most importantly, warm, the snow stuck to the cloaks began to melt and Olwyt shrugged his off, exposing the silk tunic woven from Nyrothian weavers and emblazoned with the Imperial Herald. His children followed suit and great lumbering Tekorvans came and took the cloaks away. Olwyt looked around astonished, his eyes adjusting to the warm light inside from the cold darkness of the outer night. He and his party hustled forward, letting more room for the other travelers to move inside but he and his children made no move towards anyone already present. Sanctuary had strange customs Olwyt hated to admit he did not entirely understand. He was certain one of the great giants would explain the next step once all were inside.

Unnaturally hot though it was, High Prince Yuuhi simply squinted through the light of the many Ketsuek Krystals scattered throughout the hall at the most recently announced guest. Gesturing to an old woman in a white robe, he leans back against the dark stone chair and idly scratches the Auukii Bat's ears as it continued to eat.

"I see you for the first time. I am Aristocrat Akira Sakuranbo. We have heard much of you, Ignato." Sakuranbo bowed deeply to the ruler while speaking in Formal Speech.

Though the light was dim, one could see her beard was smooth, silky and braided with numerous purple and lilac ribbons. Various blue and black beads were scattered throughout, some with simple symbols of a crescent moon or fish, some small and plain. Her short hair was almost entirely white with only vague hints of its original light pink colour remaining.

Her white robe brushed the floor as she moved. The cherry pink sash she wore to tie it together was simple as she rose to her full height, standing at least a few heads above the newcomers. Gently, she smiled and gestured toward a spot in the crowd after the party from Woodwind had responded to her approach.

"Well met. Though this hall has no 'rooms' per se, there is a section this way with a lower ceiling where our chefs are preparing some food. Are you hungry? Or perhaps you would like to admire one of the artworks first? What would you like to see?"

Striding into the city, a part clad in gray's to differentiate themselves from the snow. The woman in the lead however, was clad in pure white, from her headdress to her shoes. She seemed to not even notice the biting cold. The snow almost seemed to flow around her, splitting and making way for her, submitting itself. In her hand, she held a rod, seeming to be shaped from pure ice. No other climate could make her look as glorious as the ice and snow. She was at home wherever she find herself in its embrace. Her first event outside of her nation, she was the interest of many a monarch.

Behind her, walked the newly appointed diplomat official. Up until recently, she had only been an athlete, but the success of attending the Raenekki games and the suggestion of a certain religious figure, had prompted her to be raised to the position.

Next to her, a man not like the rest. Without the cat features, and much taller. A man, who looked much more like the native peoples, than those he arrived with. Recently betrothed, he was the first, and currently only, husband of the diplomat next to him. And he hadn't been home in a long time.

The Sycians had arrived.

Running his fingers over the cracks and chips in the chair, High Prince Yuuhi examines the resulting fine dust upon his fingertips. Surely there was a higher quality black stone somewhere within his realm. Noting the arrival of their strange new feline neighbours, he flicks a hand toward a massive young Tekorvanin.

「Party: Sycia」

"I see you. My name is Ameshi Kouri." his shaggy mop of ice blue hair nearly touches the floor in a bow, and yet neither his words nor his motions seemed to display even the slightest suggestion of respect. Whipping the tail of his hair back to the centre of his back as he rose, he sneered at the Half-Breed in the Sycian party.
"I'd expect you would appreciate some Frozen Wine, yes?" Kouri points lazily toward a pillar near the back corner of the hall near where the High Prince Yuuhi watched the proceedings from his dais.

Turning to one side so he was no longer properly facing the Sycians, Kouri pretends to admire a nearby painting while watching their reaction from the corner of his eye. His white robe revealed his bare feet as he stepped back and looked toward the Sycians once more. The bright green cloth belt at his waist flowed and shimmered in the light as only the finest of silks could as he moved.

The High Priestess ignores her greeter's shenanigans as she waves Lorelle and Scale off to handle themselves.
"I'd much appreciate if I could speak to the High Prince. I am of interest in learning more of this land, and discussing the future of the world as a whole.

Lorelle and Scale wander the party, arm in arm. They greet and speak to any nobles who are willing to talk to them.

It was cold out here, high up in the sky. However, Aimi could handle the cold, as long as she kept moving. Her muscle were working hard to maintain altitude, but she could handle it. Nyllana smiled. What a grand entrance she would make.

The rats in Zargrim were repelled for now, although she did not dare to guess their next move. Eleljak, who was driving a hovercraft fortified to drive well in the icy north, was apalled at the goblin rebels that showed up to help out Sympol, although it did not change the battle in the great picture. His goblin legions managed to push them back out of the battle, with the help of their Kasumori aerial peers. However, he needed a break after the battle, so she took him along for the ride, together with his wife.

After two days travel, snow in Eleljak's hovercraft and cold tails, they arrived in Aes Shinchuu, accompanied by Tekorvan troops. A message had been send in advance, asking for a warm stable and a large stone pillar. Now it became clear why. Nyllana's mount resembled an enormous butterfly, with a wingspan of about 20 meters.

OOC: It looks like this, except VERY VERY BIG.

The moth, which she called Aimi, landed on the pillar, walking down the pillar to let her rider off. She guided Aimi to the prepared stable, while Eleljak and Paryna got their stuff out of the hovercraft.

Nyllana glides along the floor to the entrance, Eleljak and Paryna right behind her. She was better prepared for the people of Sanctuary then last time. She smiled a stunningly beautiful smile at the guards.
"Greetings, gentlemen, could you please guide me inside? I've got an invitation."

By the light of the evening sun, the Tekorvanin who lingered outdoors stopped to curiously watch the sky. The closer the party from the Hurosha Empire came to the simple stone pillar a short way outside the Gates of Aes Shinchuu the more the crowd grew. A barely audible gasp came from the gathered as the large foreign insect alighted delicately atop the pillar.

「Party: Hurosha Empire」

Shortly after the crowd had dispersed, a small group of Scouts were approached by those of the Hurosha Empire. At the Eienguard's words, one of the Scouts attempted to subtly adjust their robe over their hips. ((OOC - Sorry! I could not resist. :P))

"I see you for the first time." the Scout who seemed in charge was on the ground in a bow with the rest of his group before Nyallana could finish her sentence. In the distance, a large figure is seen approaching them, what little sunlight was left glinting off of his full plate armour.

At Nyallana's signal, the lead Scout continued in the most respectful Formal Speech he could muster, "Alongside this young gentleman here, a Bushi has been elected to accompany you throughout the event if you so desire." The heavily armoured figure crosses his arm across his chest and places his fist over his right shoulder and bows awkwardly as he stops a good distance away from the Eienguard. A long, elegant blade with a slight curve in a simple black scabbard was clearly visible at his right hip.

"Blessings of the Great Ancestor upon you," Olwyt said, returning the bow in concert with his children.

He looked up into the face of the...woman? Best not to dwell, "You would do me great honor in allowing me to see the High Prince," Olwyt reached inside a leather pouch at his side and pulled out a collection of scrolls containing seals of the Empire and of Sanctuary, "We discussed much through messages during the war last year and I very much wish to discuss some finer details regarding our discussions. That said," Olwyt adjusted his tone to a more happy go lucky one, "My children tell me they are starved for culture in Woodwind and I know they wish to see the magnificent arts of Sanctuary and eat your stocks away."

Syana stared daggers at her father for his last comment but said nothing as her brother, Garthuna spoke, "Tekorvan art is said to be some of the finest in Telluris! And not just of fire and saints like that Calorum stuff."

There. The masked stranger arrives, this time his mask that of an exotic bird. Black feathers gleamed in the dim red light as he makes the long trek toward High Prince Yuuhi. Yawning, the bat next to High Prince Yuuhi climbs into his lap hoping to take a nap.

「Party: Ignato Empire」

The subtle smile, a little strained from mention of the 'Great Ancestor' briefly transformed into a grimace before a cool mask settled upon Sakuranbo's face. Behind her, a pair of Tekorvanin in light brown robes approach. The sashes they wore across their chest and around their waist held many scrolls and pouches. One of them handed Sakuranbo a very large scroll case before they bowed to those from the Ignato Empire.

"Yes, well. If you wish, he is there for you to set your gaze upon but he is not to be disturbed at this time. Though I have here all that is necessary for the appropriate details to be sorted out. Also..." attempting to look friendly as she loomed over Garthuna, Sakuranbo smiled as she whispered kindly, "Whatever your opinions, it would perhaps be safest to remember who is who here. Tekorvan art is indeed... A lot more subtle than could be properly presented at such an affair."

Garthuna swallowed through his tight throat, the looming figure was certainly intimidating, "Of course Aristocrat Sakuranbo. I only meant to express mine and my sister's interest in seeing the subtleties of your people's art."

Olwyt spoke up now, "Well I imagine there may be things within this scroll that need discussion, who might I see for that and where might I go to read over it?"

The Aristocrat barely bats an eyelid at the use of her given name by Garuntha. "Perhaps some Yorukunin art would interest you in the meantime? I'm sure one of these Scholars would not mind acting as a guide."

Straightening, Sakuranbo addresses Olwyt directly as he seems to be capable, "Indeed. Myself, if you do not mind." bowing, Sakuranbo gestures toward the exit, "Perhaps we could find somewhere more private to discuss Matters of State?"

Garthuna winced at the disapproval apparent in the Tekorva's voice,"Yes, that would be nice, come along sister," he said, grabbing Syana by the wrist and moving towards the location the Tekorvan had gestured towards earlier.

"You're an embarrassment," Syana whispered, "Perhaps you should let me talk art you buffoon."

"Fine," Garthuna said, defeated.

....

Olwyt smiled, "Yes, somewhere private would indeed be fitting for such concerns. I trust you to guide me as these are your lands Aristocrat."

「Garthuna and Syana: Ignato Empire」

One of the Scholars manages to catch an old Tekorvanin dressed in a rough iron gray robe on the way past to watch over the children of the Ignato Empire while looking for someone more official to do so. Gesturing toward a pleasant seeming flower arrangement from one of the Southern lands, the Scholar leaves to follow Sakuranbo.

Out of the corner of their eye, one of the party from Ignato may notice a female Yorukuninin suddenly rush past them. Her eyes were glazed over and a small trickle of blood dripped out of the left corner of her mouth. Her small Hanseiyoku were moving back and forth erratically.

「Olwyt: Ignato Empire」

Not far from the hall they were, Sakuranbo leads Olwyt of Ignato to a much smaller building. The building was clearly a luxurious house for a high ranking Aristocrat. The arched windows had real glass, the door was inlaid with gilded Tekorvan symbols. On entrance, a large room with high backed chairs adorned with gems surround a large diamond shaped table with gold edging and a map of Aes Shinchuu's various layers engraved in the tabletop itself. Various double doors lead away from the room, but the Aristocrat Sakuranbo offered Olwyt a seat facing a beautiful painting of a dark thorny bush with silver-grey blossoms against the snow.

After yet more bowing, the Scholars seat themselves and pull out their various writing implements as the Aristocrat places the various letters the Ignato Empire had sent to Sanctuary and vice versa on the table for Olwyt's perusal if he so wishes.

The winter wind howled outside the Tekorvanin hall where Cantus Sai was being held, but inside the Raaneki were singing. They had attempted to make polite introductions at the beginning of the festivities, but decided it was better merely to enjoy themselves after a few interesting moments. The Raaneki were no strangers to awkward introductions--most cultures had a ridiculous obsession with clothing and modesty--so being left to their own devices was no slight in their eyes.

The Raaneki had transformed a corner of the hall into a makeshift Raaneki embassy with piles of cushions and many luxurious drapes. Incense burned from a brazier in the center, and small tables were filled with food and--of course--Raaneki wine.

Lady Lomadi Devdano reclined on one of the cushions. She wore nothing more than short trousers and a small vest, though they were cut from the finest fabrics and festooned with gorgeous brocade. Her arms, stomach, and the sides of her neck were decorated with delicate red tattoos, flowing and swirling in a thousand spidery channels over her light gray skin. Her deep purple hair was styled in several dozen tight braids.

"Ah!" she exclaimed with a tinkling laugh as Lord Ujval related a joke. "'Caught with his clothes on,' indeed. You are incorrigible, my love." She raised a glass in thanks for his presence.

Lord Ujval flashed a grin. He wore short trousers with no vest. His brown tattoos snaked up his legs and arms like vines, with berries tattooed here and there in many different colors. His arms were dyed a deep green up to his shoulders, and he stood before his Raaneki fellows as he told story after story. In all, only half a dozen painted men and women lounged upon the cushions, but the wild variety of skin dye and tattoo styles present made them a hard sight to miss.

Passersby may have wondered at the dress of the Raaneki or their conversation, which rose into shouts of laughter and mirth every so often. Some may have found the Raaneki distasteful, but not a single soul there could deny that there was a kind of magic to Raaneki fellowship. It was--simply put--more fun than your average gathering. Every tale was met with applause and thanks, every joke with laughter, and every lamentation with tears. Wine flowed as sweetly as stolen kisses. Hospitality was transformed from an obligation to a joy.

"May all in attendance find comfort and joy!" exclaimed Lord Ujval, turning to face the crowd outside his little memory of home. "And all are welcome to enjoy," he paused, smirking at his fellows, "the art of Raaneki revelry!"

I think it's time to explore exactly what Raaneki revelry looks like. Here's hoping I don't get my rulers executed for partying too hard! :smalltongue:

For anyone who's interested, I've got a stack of sandstone available for trade. any color you could imagine!

Garthuna nodded at the grey clad Tekorvan, but said nothing. Twenty three years old and his first meeting outside the Empire was a disaster. As if he hadn't messed things up enough with the Nyrothian Senators of the formulating Senate. At least Rebdin seemed more akin to father's way with words. It was good indeed that he was heir and not Garthuna. He didn't even share his grandfather's aptitude for the battlefield, he was a mess of an Emperor's second son. Uncle Kilwen and Uncle Avie seemed to understand him but the Radurjic faith not so much.

Lost in his thoughts as he was he nearly missed it as a Tekorvan, no it was, oh blast, what were the underlanders of this region called, Yorukun ran by with a bloodied lip.

"Are there many flowers in the north?" He heard his sister (7 years his younger and a better diplomat) asking their guide.

"What was that?" he interrupted, drawing a glare from his sister, as he pointed towards the distressed woman, "Is she alright?"

....

Olwyt took a seat in the chair he had been gestured towards, its massive frame leaving enough room for two, perhaps more, fellow Imperials to sit with him.

"Greetings," Olwyt said to the assembled representatives, "Let us get to the issue at hand, no?" I discussed with your Prince," Olwyt shuffled through papers until he found what he was looking for, "Here it is, a military alliance between the Fiefdom of Sanctuary and the Ignato Empire. And I also signed here," Olwyt pulled from his pouch a copy of the Grand Coalition-Sanctuary Treaty, "Promising to such a thing. I keep to my word and so I am here to see what has been drafted up by your Scholars Aristocrat, and to add to it and discuss its terms."

As the group of five Na'nuk follow the Tekorvanin guides through the streets of Aes Shinchuu, the frame of each of the five appears massive and burly in their thick, snow-white fur clothing, yet their footprints in the snow are shallow. Tied to their backs, they carry a pair of snowshoes and in their hand a simple spear. The largest of the figures also holds a leather box about one feet in diameter in his left, handling it with great care. Most of their heads are hidden below ushankas, but the flaps that can be used to cover the eyes of the wearer with lenses of a yellow gemstone, are folded up on their forehead. They do not seem to overly mind the crackling of their breath in the frosty evening air, and their eyes take in every detail of the city's southern splendor.

As they enter the enormous stone tent, the three that walked in front - a man in his late twenties, a woman a few years his younger, and a grey haired man in his forties - turn to the remaining two. The three remove their coats, revealing slender, wiry bodies clothed in finely woven shirts made of feathers. They hand their coats and spears to the two guards, and descend down into the hall, the older man following a few steps behind, carrying the box. Their eyes bulge as they perceive the magnitude of the hall, and the treasures displayed within. Reaching the bottom of the stairs, they move a few steps aside as to not stand in anyones way. They look around, noticeably curious but also unsure how to proceed without breaking protocol.

She turns away, looking towards the direction of the heavy footsteps.

((That came off way sassier than I meant it to...))

Lorelle sighs, holding Scale tighter. She knew he had most likely become used to some treatment, but it still hurt watching him treated as such by the people of his homeland. She blinks in surprise at the woman.

High Prince Yuuhi leaned lazily to one side, idly rubbing the chest of his bat as the stranger leaned in so close to whisper, the feathers adorning his mask brushed with Yuuhi's hair. It proved difficult to keep a bored face as the whisperings were anything but. As the strange peple of the Frozen wastes to the north trusted their furs with a pair of Tekorvanin guides, Yuuhi gestured to an old man in sparkling white robes with a similarly sparkly sky blue cloth belt. Shortly before the stranger had finished delivering his news, a group of colourful people entered with piles of even more colourful bundles. Choosing to ignore this for now in the hope of listening to the rest of the stranger's words, he almost noticed too late the Raaneki's actions. A little irritated, Yuuhi summons to his side a short middle aged Yorukuninin who was slim, dignified and possessed long Hanseiyoku. After a short, quiet exchange, the Yorukuninin made his way toward the Raaneki as Yuuhi finished listening to the news...

「Party: Raaneka」

By the time the Raaneki had given up speaking with the guests present, the beginnings of a garish mess of colours had begun to form in one of the few sections of the hall not currently in use. As they grew and the Raaneki gathered, the glances of open fury uncharacteristic of the Yorukuni were directed toward the corner. As the insence was lit and the wine began to flow, so too did the Tekorvanin begin to attempt to prevent anything further happpening. Yet the soft, polite requests of the Tekorvanin appeard to fall on deaf ears as the conversation grew louder and louder.

At the point the brazier was produced, a few Tekorvanin began to attempt to prevent its lighting directly as more than a few Yorukuninin whispered among themselves and a few began to leave the hall. A slim, pale Yorukuninin led two Tekorvanin toward the brazier. Revealing his fangs briefly in a grimace, he turns away from the brazier as the light hurt his eyes and the heat made his skin feel as though several small bugs crawled over his skin.

After the Tekorvanin had doused the flames, the Yorukuninin grasped the arm of the nearest Raaneki in his icy grip, careful not to draw blood with his claws. Through an unintentionally unfriendly smile he hissed through his fangs, "You must have only the strongest death wish. Would you care to enlighten me as far as your next brilliant maneuver? I am sure we could arrange a gallows for you..."

「Garthuna and Syana: Ignato Empire」

Unsure quite who the foreigner was addressing, the Tekorvanin who was with them shakes his head and looks about ready to go help. As he opened his mouth to warn someone, one of the strange Yorukuninin touched him on the shoulder lightly. He seemed suddenly... calm.
"No, she is fine."

In the direction the woman was heading there appeared to be a couple holding each other. The lady with strange ears and of all things a tail was watching her. Perhaps they may know more? It would seem nobody else was particularly interested in persuing this strange incident.

Sorry about the wait!

「Olwyt: Ignato Empire」

"I am familiar with these. Unfortunately, we haven't heard a response from our most recent letter though we would accept the military alliance. Did you receive it?" Sakuranbo pushed one of the letters toward Olwyt.

Ignato Empire,

I hope the weather is treating you well. It is very warm here. The snow has even melted through in some places!

We would indeed sign such a treaty, however recent events have found us with a shortage of wood. Would you perhaps be interested in trading the wood of Woodwind with us if it is possible? Attached you will find a report regarding our available exports.

I would also ask that were we to find ourselves to become neighbours, would you agree to the clause that 'the Ignato Empire and Sanctuary may not leverage tribute from the other's nations.'?

May good fortune smile on you in these troubled times.

Signed,

A Tekorvanin dressed in a murky yellow robe with a dim green armband entered the house with a pair of glasses, a small sample of various alcohols including one or two commonly consumed in the Ignato Empire and a stone jug.

Sorry about the wait!

「Party: Wenyavuk」

A large man in a white robe tied at the waist with a blue cloth belt strode purposefully toward the newcomers. His beard almost dragged along the floor as he walked, the myriad blue and green beads and ribbons creating an interesting effect. To add to this, small stones of some sort were sewn into his robes and belt which did naught but sparkle in the dim red light of the Ketsuek Krystals.

"I see you for the first time. My name is Akira Shirokinu. I hate to be rude..." Shirokinu rose from a reasonably deep bow, "...but I had heard you have come from a land we used to call Fadoken? Of the North? A Frozen Wasteland. I would perhaps hear more of it, but I must warn you not to broach the topic with my sister."

Sorry, a bit of a boring post for you I suppose... Ummm, yah...

「Fabula: Sycia」

A gentle chattering of metal on metal is heard as the footsteps come to a halt a respectful distance from the High Priestess just as she speaks of the poor manners of Sanctuary. After having told the youth in front of her exactly what she thought of him, she turned to face another being the same size as the buffoon she was most recently greeted by. Somehow the newcomer seemed larger and more dignified, even as he bowed with grace. Clad entirely in black, with an ornate cowl covering much of his face he would seem like any other Yorukuninin present if not for his immense size.

The pair of long chains rattled at his wrists as he rose. Unlike a prisoner's, one end of either chain was left to hang at his sides. A third chain acted as a very loose belt for his coat.

"Indeed, the 'Lord' of this town has come to greet you as is proper. For I am Aristocrat Ameshi Kouri, the 'Lord' of Aes Shinchuu, where we currently have gathered to appreciate fine art." his voice was authorative, his stance tall as he gestures kindly toward Fabula, "and your name?"

「Lorelle and Scale: Sycia」

Where a moment before there was pain, now there was nothing, not even a sign of intelligence. Slowly she scanned the crowd with unseeing eyes. As she stood up she never seemed to register the small trickle of blood that now fell from one corner of her mouth. Standing, she strides toward the main entrance.

A few of the surrounding Tekorvanin stole glances at her yet did nothing. One of the Tekorvanin standing near Scale looked ready to run after her, but as he opened his mouth to at least warn someone a Yorukuninin lightly touched him on the shoulder. The Tekorvanin's eyes became slightly vacant as he turned to admire the fossil of some small, long forgotten crustacean.

Lorelle may notice a slight tightening of Scale's grip as he closes his eyes and gasps briefly. Perhaps she may also notice his upper canines seemed slightly larger than normal in that brief instant before he opened his strangely dark eyes and shivered one... twice...

A cold falls over them no more than a few seconds after Scale began to react strangely. Could this chill be perhaps...?

After the Tekorvanin had doused the flames, the Yorukuninin grasped the arm of the nearest Raaneki in his icy grip, careful not to draw blood with his claws. Through an unintentionally unfriendly smile he hissed through his fangs, "You must have only the strongest death wish. Would you care to enlighten me as far as your next brilliant move? I am sure we could arrange a gallows for you."

I would prefer not executing Raaneki... If uou have any queries, feel free to shoot me a PM. I apologize if this seems too extreme, but IC you went quite far.

Many of the Raaneki leapt up in outrage as soon as the Yorukuninin laid hands upon one of their fellows. He waved them off and chuckled. "Ah," he said, examining the hand clutching his arm. "Customs must be somewhat different in Sanctuary. Even as I am the Lord Ujval Devdano, Master of Raaneka, I would not presume to lay such firm hands upon a guest."

If for no other reason than the diplomatic implications, the Yorukuninin released his grip. "Much better, and many thanks!" Lord Ujval seemed genuinely forgiving. He looked at the corner they had set up. "Our godana are perhaps our proudest art," he traced his fingertips over the tattoos on his arm, the representation of his people, his promises, and his personality that this Yorukuninin had so recently and decisively violated, "though now it seems we know of yet one more place where they are unwelcome." As if on cue, he and the other Raaneki began to clothe themselves in the thick robes that had brought them through the cold.

Lord Ujval clapped his hands and the Raaneka flew into activity. They extinguished the incense and piled the cushions onto a cart they had brought. "We Raaneki believe there is beauty in fellowship. Conversation, intention," he paused, "physical touch are an art among the Raaneki. We had hoped to share that with new friends, but--sadly--we do not seem to find any here. Alas, we find only ignorance."

The Raaneki had their things packed in an hour. They graciously made their way to the lodging they had secured, where they began to plan for their departure on the following morning.

No hard feelings OOC, of course.

EDIT: Whoops! I just realized it was a Yorukuninin that did the grabbing, not a Tekorvanin.

A woman, tall for her people but not alongside the Tekorvanin entered Aes Shinchuu flanked by a half dozen guards clad in intricate mithril armour and red travelling coats lined with thick furs. She wore a long cloak dyed the deepest of blues and lined with the finest sable, its hood worn down. Beneath that she wore a long black robe as is traditional for a regent of Ashenia and on her head a circlet of silver filigree. As this was an occasion for the celebration of art, her outfit was richly embroidered, her cloak with images of the Ashene Mountains in silver and her robe with stylised wolves in white and gold. As was expected of a married woman at a formal engagement, her hair was braided.
Idrisa whispered softly to her guide, asking the Tekorvanin to take her directly to Emperor Olwyt and to not take offence for she would apologise to the High Prince later.

A few minutes later they were outside the house where the Emperor was meeting with representatives of Sanctuary. At her nod, the captain of her guard stepped forward and knocked politely on the door.

Another group of travelers approach Aes Shinchuu, led by a man who looked to be in his late forties, wearing an assortment of very warm clothing. They were eleven strong, with seven clear humans and four shorter and almost dwarf-like individuals.
Rogar sighed inwardly, longing for his books, his shrine, and most of all, his son. But all had been left at home, but for the books he could carry with his other supplies, and the three books his wife would carry as well. That totaled seven, and that there were as many books as humans in the party was a joke not lost on Rogar and his wife.
As the party approached the Tekorvanin, Vliinmeg-Aiires was both elated and filled with fear. The giants were twice his size, and something felt... wrong about there song. There voice was so... quiet and dim. He was of the Aiires, and the urge to explore over powered his fear, as it always had and would until his song ended. He marched on.
Captain Godel of the Royal Military Innovators Corps, temporarily detached to the Royal Guard, was uneasy. Perhaps it was because of the cold, as he had grow used to the heat of the foundries and EQTE caverns. Perhaps.
Hail! yelled Rogar, happy to see his hosts. We have come at your invitation, and are glad to attend the Cantus Sai. I am Rogar Cardion. It is good to see you.

Rain, I think the most convenient way to handle yours and mines interaction and the UN-GC peace talks would be to time bubble you and me having our agreements having concluded when Ashenia knocks on the door.

Olwyt looked over the treaty he had just signed with Sanctuary one last time, nodding silently when a knock at the door drew his eyes to it. He waited for his host to answer, not wishing to overstep his bounds.

Against all advice, Amber Grant chose to hazard the journey to the far frozen north. The Council objected, of course. There was so much to do. They seemed incapable of dealing with any issue in an expeditious manner. Ioz Ren argued against it as well. He was her husband, and did not want her travelling in her state. It was easily a four month round trip, and though she was only just aware of her state, he was concerned. In the end, a small party would go. Amber and her man, the Air Shaman Whisper, and her father with a close associate. The dottering old fool felt compelled to leave his studies of the magical model boat and travel In his 70s! Amber was furious, but he calmly reminded her that an old man travelling was no less ridiculous than a pregnant Regina. With them came an earth shaman named Hearth, the best midwife in the Islands.

Their travels took them to Ryazen bay, then along the ravaged coast of Celero and onto a port in the Ignato Empire. From there, they travelled on horseback deep into the continent. They took time to adopt local dress as they travelled. Their jewelry and tattoos marked them as different no matter how they travelled.

It was the cold that unnerved them most. They lived in warm, tropical islands, true. But they were able to dive deep, into the cold darkness of the vast ocean valleys. Creatures of nightmare lived there. At night, in the darkness, they stirred the imagination and made sleep difficult. As they approached the citadel and the snow fell, they found their inner eyelids very effective at screening they eyes from the cold and wet.

They arrived in time to see the Raanekan delegation packing up as if to leave. Jonas hobbled his way over to Lord Devdano attempting to find out what happened. Amber started in as well, then came to a stop, suddenly. Evelyn was amongst the Raanekan delegation.

The High Prince descended the dais and left quietly through a door toward the back of the Hall which was hard to see unless you knew what you were looking for. At the base of the dais, most of the chairs were empty by now yet there were a few Aristocrats remaining to greet newcomers.

「Party: Raaneka」

High Prince Yuuhi had told him the Lord of Raaneka was not in attendance. Paling slightly though he managed to keep a calm face, he protests angrily as the Raaneki presumes to lecture him on 'art' after having wrested free from his grasp. It was clear the Raaneki had neither asked for permission nor had they taken into account their hosts.

Was this intentional? Was it all to plan?

The fellow watched the back of the Raaneki as they began to pack up. He was supposed to arrest the Raaneki, but as they appeared to be leaving perhaps it would be wiser to allow them to leave immediately so he simply dispatched one of the Tekorvanin to inform the High Prince.

The Tekorvanin tried to assist the Raaneki, though it was clear to them the Yorukuninin were displeased with their noisy ways and the temporary partial redecoration of the Hall. A few of the Yorukuninin who had left had returned. The keen observer would notice some had a few more pouches at their belt than when they had left.

The Yorukuninin who had dealt with the Raaneki looked around slowly, trying desperately to calm the rising fear and outrage that had begun to rise within him.

I am safe here in the open, but... elsewhere? Not so.

Pleas refrain from godmodding (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1633965&postcount=5) in the future. As your delegation is leaving, I have decided to put up with it unhappy though I am about it.

「Party: Ashenia | Olwyt: Ignato Empire, the GC-UN Peace Conference」

A polite knock on the door does not interrupt much as the servant goes to greet whoever is at the door.

"If you are happy with this, I can immediately have copies made and seek the appropriate signatures." Sakuranbo gathers all of the papers aside from the official treaty into a pile and leaves it for the Scholars to sort and goes to the door to find not a native of Sanctuary, but a strange lady and a guard in even stranger metal. Curious though she was, Sakuranbo had things to do and as such tried to deal with the newcomer quickly.

"I see you for the first time. I am Akira Sakuranbo. I am afraid I have little time for formalities at present as I have a little bit of important business to attend to currently. Emperor Olwyt mentioned you would be arriving to discuss private matters and I hope this place is suitable to your needs." Rising from a bow, Sakuranbo speaks evenly and respectfully, assuming the crowned woman was the correct person to address. She hoped she was not wrong...

Either of you can interject at any point here. :)

You know as for the time bubble, I'd said the same to Elemental before I promptly fell asleep /beside/ my bed. Work was so tiring yesterday. X.X

Also, I don't remember the official name for your chat. Would you mind telling me so I can fix it if it is incorrect?

「Party: Pryonia」

Loud though Rogar was, the Tekorvanin were more than happy to see their Old Friends of Pryonia, especially after nasty rumours surrounding the war. Among the party greeting the Pryonians and guiding them to the main event hall was Shadou Elysius himself who bowed lower than he would normally for those present.

"It is good to see you as well! My sincerest apologies if our previous letter upset you, but I hope you understand. If you wish, we have a guard to accompany you throughout the event." Shadou spoke with the utmost respect. He gestured toward a large man in full plate armour. At his hip was a long, slightly curved sword in a simple brown leather scabbard.

"If it is not rude of me to ask, I do not see Herzog Cardion with you. Is he well?"

Pryonia,

It is a little cold here. Many of the animals lie dormant beneath the snow.

It is our regret to request that you leave any fires larger than a few flames at most outside the main event, though you may light as many as you like in the lodgings we have prepared especially for you. Our hall will be heated and lit by some other means, but unfortunately some of the artworks present are very valuable and though we could ask for advice on fire safety we also must account for many foreign parties whom will be attending. One such being Sycia, a strange country to our East who worships the ice.

We hope you understand and apologize in advance for any inconveniences. If you wish to bring an exhibit of your own, feel free even if it involves a lot of fire. To shelter other guests and artworks from the flames, we can arrange something.

May your fires be everlasting.

Signed,
Yuuhi, High Prince of the Ancient Fiefdom of Sanctuary
If Herzog has a title, could you pretty please pretend I used it and let me know what it is? I didn't see one at a brief glance and the forums aren't working very well for me.

Sanctuary probably knows it though, we've been trading with you for a very long time and formal allies since round two!

Lady Lomadi, retreating from the revelry in the back long enough to tour the other exhibits, gasped at the shirts. "Ancestors revel in joy!" she said, moving closer. "Such craftsmanship!" An exotic perfume followed in her wake. "Where did you find such treasures?"
Since the Tekorvanin started taking offense only after Lady Lomadi approached the Na'nuk, I suggest we continue this strand for a bit.
As Akira Shirokinu approaches the delegation and the two younger Na'nuk greet him, the white haired man turns toward Lady Lomadi. At this closer distance, it is visible that his shirt consists exclusively of soft down feathers, no two of exactly the same color but each of the same, russet hue. He lowers his head for a moment before replying with a slight accent, but fluently "Thank you kindly, I would not have thought this would stand out in all this resplendence", he makes a circular gesture at the surrounding nobles. "I am Inaun an Vekal, here to accompany chieftain Näiyop and his sister", he points at his two companions before continuing "We hail from Wenyavuk. Any who can afford it there wear this kind of clothing indoors, as a mammoth's wool is not as warm if spun into clothing. It is surely not as smooth as these southern threads seem to be", he nods towards someone wearing a Kinu Kuroth Dress, "but it is what the Tears provide for us."

At a wink from his chieftain he briefly pauses to hand him the leather box he is still carrying, then returns his attention to Lady Lomadi "My apologies. But please, tell me about your lands. If you wear paintings on your skin you must be from a place where one does not have to shroud it in furs."

They arrived in time to see the Raanekan delegation packing up as if to leave. Jonas hobbled his way over to Lord Devdano attempting to find out what happened. Amber started in as well, then came to a stop, suddenly. Evelyn was amongst the Raanekan delegation.

"Captain Jonas!" Lord Ujval exclaimed, parting from the group and embracing the old Islander. He had not seen the captain since Lord Ujval was a boy, but he had many fond memories of his stories and antics. He pulled his robes tighter against the cold outside the hall. "Alas, it is too chilly in there for the Raaneki. Cantus Sai may be an arts festival, but this is no atmosphere for revelry."

He opened his mouth to continue, but stopped as soon he noticed Amber's gaze. It had been his parents' decision to allow Evelyn to stay among the Raaneki, but he and Lomadi were now Lord and Lady of Raaneka. By not banishing Evelyn, he implicitly condoned her presence.

"Regina Amber!" Lord Ujval exclaimed, tentatively stepping toward the Islander sovereign. "It has been many years since the Raaneki Games. You may not remember me, but I could never forget watching the joy you brought to our people."

At a wink from his chieftain he briefly pauses to hand him the leather box he is still carrying, then returns his attention to Lady Lomadi "My apologies. But please, tell me about your lands. If you wear paintings on your skin you must be from a place where one does not have to shroud it in furs."

Lady Lomadi's laugh twinkled into Inaun's ears. "And I am Lomadi Devdano, Lady of Raaneka, many leagues south of this cold land. I am honored to meet you, Inaun an Vekal. But you underestimate your talents!" Without care for protocol, she ran a delicate hand over the feathery shirt. "This is marvelous craftsma--" She stopped abruptly. Even amid so much display of music and dance, she noticed the silencing of the songs of her homeland. "My deepest apologies," she said, taking a step back. "But I've just remembered something, and I'm afraid I must take my leave. May we meet again soon, Inaun an Vekal!"

I don't have a lot of time for RP and am eager to leave this thread before Raaneka-Sanctuary relations get any worse. Maybe next round!

(Olwyt, Sanctuary-Imperial Treaty)

Olwyt looked down at the letter, "I don't think that I did," he mused reading it over and flipping to the second page listing the resources of Sanctuary.

"Hmm, I see you have much stone, would you be willing to trade this for timber?" He asked, ignoring the listing of Bloodfire.

Too many wars over something of too little value he thought to himself now stone, that was something you could use and something he needed in Nyroth Province. Honeyed words and senatorial appointments would only do so much for so long.

"As for tribute, I see no need for such a thing to come up, but I shall agree not to of course."

Alright, so how about a quick summary of the treaty?

The Alliance of Empires
(If you have a better name please offer it up, this one's not that great :P)

Pact of Military Defense and Cooperation

Pact of Mutual Non-Interference
The signatory nations agree to at no time send to the soil of the others nation any uninvited or unwelcome entities under penalty of breaking all agreements herein this alliance.
The signatory nations agree to at no time attempt to proselytize the people of the other's nation without express consent given by the ruler of the other nation.
No tribute shall be levied by either party against the other in any form.

Trading Agreements
1 stack of Nyroth Timber in exchange for 1 stack of Sanctuary Stone
(If there's anything else you'd be interested in add it and let me know so I can review it)

Signatory Nations
Ignato Empire

(Garuntha & Syana)

"She doesn't look fine," Garthuna said, his curiosity overpowering what little diplomatic skills he had been taught, "Stay here and look at the art," he told his sister, who gave him a look intended to freeze him in his place and prevent him from doing what he was about to do, a look he missed as he left his sister and the Tekorvan to go over to the woman who had rushed by so urgently.

"Do you know what's going on," Garthuna asked the feline looking couple as he watched the woman with the busted lip begin to move as if she had forgotten what had just happened, keeping a slower pace still towards her.

(Syana)

The girl turned to look at the Tekorvan host, "If you don't want trouble you better get someone to get my brother. He has the social aptitude of a goldfish."

(Olwyt - UN/GC Peace Conference)

Olwyt approached from behind the Aristocrat he had just been dealing with,

"Ah, Princess Toranath," he bowed his head to the regent, "It is good to see you received my letter and decided to come. And of course that you made it here, though I imagine this climate is a little more tolerable being from the Union as you are." he said, maintaining a politeness he had learned from Aloren nobles (now potential senators) due to a lack in proper training from his father.

Rogar grinned at the Yorukuninin and his party. “Of course I understand. We do have art and religious objects, and in the letter it said you would accommodate our… exhibits.” When the Yorukuninin mentioned his father, that grin went away. “My father is well, but could not attend. He did request that I and the captain-” gesturing at Captian Godel “ and I be allowed to speak with the high prince. In person, and in private, if at all possible” the prince smiled again. He knew that today would be interesting, at least to learn of other religions. and to see the reaction of the crown prince. That would be glorious.
Godel stiffened at the mention of his name. Not that he could have been any stiffer, after the cold, the prince, and the appearance of the dignitary. When he had seen the guard and his platemail his mind had gone through two of the three questions that were known in the RMIC, jokingly of course, as the Holy Three. What is it? Who made it? Can we make it better? He stopped himself before he finished not because of the fact that he had gone through this inquiry many times in the past, but because the prince had mentioned his name. And when the prince had finished, Godel was all the more aware that he was supposed to protect the Prince second, and The Book first. By the Holy Fire, this would be a long night.
Vliinmeg heard the Yorukuninins song and knew that it would be interesting to see how he would react. The air caste was devoted to exploration, and to feel the hint of fear, the deference, and most of all, the anticipation coming from the Yorukuninin. Then he heard the song of Captain Godel, and was intrigued, as he always was, when the Captain struggled with himself. But Vliinmeg had his orders, and heard the air sing, and the cold sing, and the light sing. Oh, how the Symphony was glorious, and how much he pitied those who could never hear it. But then, that was part of why he was here. After all, to hear song from all over the world would be so amazing, even if he was the only one who heard.

A large man in a white robe tied at the waist with a blue cloth belt strode purposefully toward the newcomers.
The young man looks towards Akira Shirokinu as he approaches, then smiles politely after he finished. Slowly and with a heavy yet sonorous accent he answers "No apology is needed. We are here for the first time. I am Näiyop an Kal, this is my sister Ania. Please allow my sister speak for me. I still lack much..." he pauses shortly, unsure how to phrase this most appropriately, then smiles again "... wordiness". As he finishes, the woman answers Akira's question "We are not familiar with the name Fadoken, but you are correct, we hail from the frozen wastes in in the north. I would be happy to tell you about the less desolate places there. I will not mention it to your sister if you think this best, if you could share her name. But may we inquire why this would cause her distress?".

Ania pauses for a moment and Näiyop uses the opportunity to remind her of something she seems to have forgot, then winks at the third Na'nuk that is standing behind them, talking to Lady Lomadi. The man hands him the box he's been carrying since they entered, before returning to their conversation. Ania tries to mask her embarrassment as she asks Akira "Before I can tell you about our lands, I have to ask a favor. We brought a piece of Art from home, to contribute to the exhibition and as a gift. Would you kindly tell us who we may present it to?"

"My apologies, sir. I see you aswell for the first time. I am Eienguard Nyllana Earthguard, hailing from the Hurosha Empire, formerly known as Kasumor. This is Eleljak, Ambasadeur of Zargrim and his wife, Paryna Earthguard, my daughter."
Eleljak and Paryna made a small polite bow and courtsy respectivelly.

She noticed the females in the group of Scouts.
"Oh, forgive my rudeness, I did not see there were also women in the guard. My mistake." (OOC: I'll wing it, no sweat on forehead!)

Nyllana turned towards the armored figure.
"Prowess to you, warrior. I see you for the first time aswell. May I be so straightforward to ask you your name?"

An old man, grizzled with age, walks slowly into the hall. Leaning heavily on a cane, ho looks weighed down by the cares of the world. Five guards, veterans like himself, stride behind him, keeping a respectful fistance.

In a voice raw with age and disuse, the Lord David Bordeux gestures with his intricately carved cane at the nearest Yorokunin. I seek three, sir: The Emperor Olwyt, the Lord Ujval, and the High Priestess Fabula. Do you know of them, young one?

Can we perhaps stage our trade talks before you have to leave the hall, or perhaps in a private chamber outside the festival?
Did I get you leader's name right? I was going by context in this thread. Also, care to discuss trade and religion?

A gentle chattering of metal on metal is heard as the footsteps come to a halt a respectful distance from the High Priestess just as she speaks of the poor manners of Sanctuary. After having told the youth in front of her exactly what she thought of him, she turned to face another being the same size as the buffoon she was most recently greeted by. Somehow the newcomer seemed larger and more dignified, even as he bowed with grace.

An old man, grizzled with age, walks slowly into the hall. Leaning heavily on a cane, ho looks weighed down by the cares of the world. Five guards, veterans like himself, stride behind him, keeping a respectful fistance.

In a voice raw with age and disuse, the Lord David Bordeux gestures with his intricately carved cane at the nearest Yorokunin. I seek three, sir: The Emperor Olwyt, the Lord Ujval, and the High Priestess Lorelle. Do you know of them, young one?

Can we perhaps stage our trade talks before you have to leave the hall, or perhaps in a private chamber outside the festival?
Did I get you leader's name right? I was going by context in this thread. Also, care to discuss trade and religion?

Fabula

Fabula opens her mouth to speak, but as she does, one of her head priests returned, and popped out from behind her, quickly speaking over her.
"She is the Fabula, Bearer of the Rod, High Priestess of the Chosen People, Guide to the Sacred Land, and the Hand and Voice of Yphine, Goddess of the Frost and Bringer of the Eternal Winter."
Fabula nods, face plain, though inside she is annoyed.

You mean Fabula. Lorelle is merely a diplomat. And absolutely!

After the debacles and surprises of the evening had calmed down, the Raaneki found lodging for the night.

"Vengeance!" Cried Bhavi, a woman with burtn orange skin and particularly aggressive red tattoos.

"It is not the way of the Raaneki to meet ignorance with violence," said Lord Ujval. "Nor is it the way of the Raaneki to rail so long against the wishes of Lady and Lord. We are not welcome. We will return to our loved ones wiser of the outside world."

With a somber air not often found among a gathering of the Painted Folk, they began to plan the details of their journey home. Lady and Lord would travel on their berundas, of course, but they would stick with the caravan in case their arts had offended Sanctuary more deeply than they realized.

Raaneka will be staying overnight in a space that is both thematically appropriate and private enough for trade deals. Feel free to initiate a conversation that would happen later on in the evening.

For everyone else, I've got one stack of Raaneki Heartwine up for grabs. Let me know if you're interested!

「Olwyt: Ignato Empire」

A surprisingly short time later...

"Indeed, this treaty looks to be in order. Was there anything else you wished to discuss?" Sakuranbo was a little surprised at how swift and straightforward the negotiations had seemed to her. The Emperor of the Ignato Empire certainly had his head on his shoulders.

「Syana: Ignato Empire」

The Tekorvanin opened his mouth to protest before a scantily clad Yorukuninin lady with elegant, deep red-purple Hanseiyoku appeared.

"Perhaps you should go with him?"

With that, she strode off in the same direction as Garuntha had gone. The Tekorvanin glanced down at Syana, waiting for a response. After all, he was not supposed to leave either of them on their own though they were of course free to do as they wished.

I don't know how old Syana and Garuntha are 「I should've looked that up」, but regardless the Yorukuninin do get up to cloak and dagger type stuff, which is why there's someone supervising them.

「Party: Pryonia」

Shadou Elysius smiled briefly in return to Rogar's own smile, "Indeed. We have set up a frame and some specially treated leathers to accomodate your fiery displays. It is a shame that your father was unable to attend. I do not think it likely you could see High Prince Yuuhi..." Shadou looked around to ensure there were no ears around which may hear what they were not supposed to before whispering to Rogar.
"...publicly. He has had to leave the main event briefly to attend to some matters. We can arrange for you to meet with him where he is currently, as he is simply awaiting me to finish what he must do. Be aware however that he may not be able to meet with you. Furthermore, he does not speak the same language as you do."

I haven't sent an Aristocrat to greet Pryonia at the Hall as Shadou Elysius himself accompanied them in before excusing himself and leaving to deal with other matters in the Hall.

Also, some things in your post confuses me. Who's reacting to who, what? That's about it.

Yorukunin deference? Heehee. 「They're very arrogant」

「Party: Wenyavuk」

Slightly irritated at the newcomer turning his back on him briefly to persue another conversation, Shirokinu waited patiently for him to finish.

Smiling, Shirokinu understandingly nods and listens intently to Ania's words. "A very, very long time ago our allies used to use the lands you now call... ehmm..." despite many years of acting as a diplomat on occasion he was still not very good at it. Having noted the newcomers didn't in fact call their lands anything he continues, "They used to be part of a trading route with very close allies of our past, but we have heard nothing from them for centuries. In fact, we have new news at all of them since before the First Year of the Standard Calendar. Is there perhaps..." Shirokinu falters slightly. Though centuries had passed and Tekorvan lives were short, many of the Tekorvanin were still feeling the loss of the aforementioned allies.

"It would be appreciated greatly. Her name is Akira Sakuranbo. Of course, you would want to address her as 'Aristocrat Akira' as you would address me. I hope this isn't too confusing. Already, some foreign emissaries have found this to be so." Shirokinu scratched the back of his neck a little awkwardly as he kept his eyes lowered as was polite, "These allies... We currently call them the Lost and it is a sore point of discussion around here. My sister enjoys studying history of Tekorva, so..."

At the question of art display, Akira Shirokinu relaxes a little. "Well, the Yorukuninin were not expecting you though an invitation must have reached you. We did have some spare places set up throughout the Hall for some unexpected displays of art. Would you wish to display yours or would you wish to keep it private? The High Prince usually would never speak with those from a foreign country, but he has expressed the desire to publicly receive gifts personally if any nation wishes to make a big show of giving them."

Shirokinu looks a little uncomfortable before gesturing to the Na'nuk lady and leaning in so they could hear him better.

"However, someone will inspect your gift beforehand to ensure it is safe I am afraid. If you wish, I could do it so you don't have to deal with the Yorukuninin. They are... not always... Anyway, another thing. High Prince Yuuhi only speaks the High Speech of Te... Sanctuary. If you have decided already what you would say or if you would not say anything at all, you don't have to deal with a translator at all."

Don't mind Shirokinu. He's easily offended, but keeps it all on the inside. He also never holds grudges and likely will have already forgotten about it.

「Party: Hurosha Empire」

The Scout listened intently to Nyallana's words and returned the bow from the strange little creatures at her side. Indeed, the Allies of Sanctuary were fascinating and diverse.

The majority of the lady Scouts blushed prettily and gestured that it was alright and no harm was done toward Nyallana.

"Prowess to you also." the Bushi said awkwardly in the most formal tones and language he could muster. "My name is Kaaba Zirvad."

「Lord David Bordeux: Bordeux」

To have been treated as one would have a commoner was something that set his teeth on edge. Fanning his small Hanseiyoku, he replied respectfully so that this newcomer would not be upset.
"Indeed. Those you seek are unknown to me."

Snapping his fingers, the Yorukuninin whispered directions to one of the nearby houses in the Tekorvanin's ears and gestured for her to guide the stranger away. Turning back to examine the water feature he tried to focus more on the gentle sounds of water over rocks rather than his irritable thoughts.

The Tekorvanin will take you to the house where there are currently the Princess Regent Idrissa of Ashenia and Emperor Olwyt of the Ignato Empire. That is, unless your Lord does something other than follow her.

「Fabula: Sycia」

"Ah, my sincerest apologies for not showing the respect you are perhaps used to. I have not heard of you, your lands or your goddess before." the Tekorvanin in black who claimed to be Ameshi Kouri responded.

「Miscellaneous OOC」
Hmm, well considering the High Prince is ultimately going to decide to deal with Raaneka's actions at a later date you can just go to one of the houses where you were supposed to be staying anyway. So like, make it as colourful and Raaneki as you desire.

Do you mind if Akira Shirokinu enters your conversation Zap Dynamic and Aspi?

Jonas embraced the man. He always liked the Raaneki. Even their sovreigns were friendly. "Lord Ujval, well met. I too have missed you and your people. Though the wine traders who frequent our shores bring tales of your lands that gladden our hearts." It was then that Jonas noticed Ujval's distraction. He stood aside to allow the man to talk to his daughter.

"Regina Amber!" Lord Ujval exclaimed, tentatively stepping toward the Islander sovereign. "It has been many years since the Raaneki Games. You may not remember me, but I could never forget watching the joy you brought to our people."

Amber chose to play it calmly for a time. She could not be made at the Raaneki lord. It was in their nature to embrace others.

"Lord Ujval, the honor is mine! The games are one of my fondest memories. It nearly broke my heart that we couldn't attend the latest one. But... there were issues on the Islands that needed my attention." She replied.

The pair made small talk for a couple of minutes, until it became clear the Raaneki were leaving. "Perhaps we should allow your party to depart. We should make our presence known to our host." She smiled at him. "With luck, we can talk later."

I might be interested in trading stone for olive oil. Also, in the fluff for my country I mentioned pigments and colors from animals. I might make it a curiosity thing to develop them into a resource starting next round and might hit you up for trace / tech help. We will see. Lastly, was it this guy or his son that the twins allegedly spent the night with?

Leaning heavily on his cane, Lord David slowly follows the Terkorvanin, amused by the politeness of these strange people. Especially so when he breached their code of conduct- one which he did not know of, and frankly could have cared less about. He had seen too much conflict in his days to care about the intricacies of a foreign land. "Leave that to Anton", the most diplomatic of his three sons, he thought.
As he enters the house wherein his ally- and once enemy- sit in discussion, Lord David asks what has been discussed to date.
Have you guys actually discussed anything yet? I haven't read through the backlog as of yet.

Later on:
High Priestess. bowing slightly- as much as his bones would allow him, at any rate.I confess, I know little about your home-though tales from afar have led me to the belief it is quite wondrous. For instance- and I say these words lightly, lest I sound the fool- are the tales of winged horses true? I would not believe them, myself, but I had heard it from a- well, a trusted source.
Do you mind if I abbreviate your name?

Even later on:
Lord Ujval. Lord David spoke gravely, with only a nod of his head- not out of disrespect, but out of weariness- these damned Terkorvanins and their courtesy. A nuisance for an old man such as he. Besides, of anyone here, the Raaneki would stand the least on courtesy.
I have much to discuss with you- but first, if you may be so kind, tell me, what of my daughter? I have heard little from her in a long while- an old man such as me gets lonely when his heirs are scattered across the globe, even in such noble service.

Nothing discussed so far, everyone was just arriving. Also I think we can go ahead and start the discussions of peace. I know the GC was involved but it was me you were coming for, the GC just defended me. Plus I've discussed the terms and such with the GC so I think I can speak for us. That said, if GC members want to come by they can, but I'm going to try and wrap this up quick.

Having just moved into the room with the Princess Regent Olwyt rose again as the elderly leader of Bordeux entered the room, bowing his head respectfully to his father's old enemy,

"Greetings Lord David, you honor this hall with your presence," Olwyt noted the elder Lord's look of boredom with pleasantries, "To business then?" Olwyt asked, pulling out a document from one of his pouches, "Myself and those of the Grand Coalition worked to lay out what we believe to be an amicable treaty to end this war. With the Umajin dead and the war still raging in Sympol neither of us desires continued war. Perhaps even trade may bloom between our peoples."

Peace Agreement to end the War in Celero between the Union of the Nortwhest and the Grand Coaltion

In order for peace to prosper between our two great alliances terms must be met by the aggressors as reparations for damages in the war.

1.) All Union troops will be recalled from Celero and no further violence shall occur between UN and GC forces for a period of time numbering at least 20 years.

2.) The regions under control of the Union of the Nortwest will submit to demilitarization and shall in raising armies not exceed the limit of 8% of the population. Failure to do so will be seen as an act of aggression and may be responded to in kind by Grand Coalition forces.

3.) In order to aid in the demilitarization of Crima and make reparations to the GC forces lost Lord David shall hand over the 2 units of Cree warships to Celero and the Ignato Empire. 1 to each nation. Crews trained in their use will instruct their new nation in their usage and operation and upon completion of this these sailors shall be returned to Crima.

4.) Lord David shall make no claim to the Eyrecradian throne.

It went Rogar talks while Godel studys, then Rogar mentions Godel, who reacts, while Vliinmeg reacts to the mind -song

That is why I have a translator" said Rogar " and most of the written information is translated from Galish to the High Speech

"Yes, it would be good to put the displays in a fireproof room. The crystal matrix projects light, so perhaps an enclosed room would be useful and less... Disruptive.

Godel was busy assessing the man who had greeted them. Thinking about the calming, if clawed, figure soothed him. And scared him. He had seen that like before, deep in the black wood. He had been on a hunting trip, eight years ago when he had seen the thing that schoolers called an "Ice Demon." It to had been beautiful, clawed, and calming to be near. The memories pulled him in..... Until Vliinmeg elbowed him in the waist.

Vliinmeg heard the sudden fear flow from the mind of the captain, and elbowed him to jar him back to the present. After all, it was bad enough if his song was filled with fear, but he sung where others could hear. And. It. Hurt.

Deferent in that he's the second in command of there closest ally, and he's famous for the whole faith thing. And yes, of course Rogar has a translator. Heck, he probably does not need one, but his translator had certain... Advantages that he does not (We Sing To The Deaf) And yes, Godel has a traumatic backstory. So sue me.

Shadou inwardly flinched at this but kept his face neutral. This... could be dealt with later if indeed it turned out to be an issue.

"I believe we have, as per your request. The building we have set aside for your display is directly adjacent to the Hall and we already have informed our guides so that your display may be appreciated by all who wish to see it."

Shadou Elysius gestured toward Aes Shinchuu's entrance.

"Perhaps you would like to see it first before entering the Hall where some of our art exhibits are?"

Sorry, but the hall's like, one entire thingy but you get an entire building. Yey!

Also, I am extremely happy you read the description of my people. Sooo happy with your previous post. I'm sorry it took so long if you were set to invisible mode and peeking your head in for an answer...
The thing with High Speech is that it's very closely guarded. Nobody outside of Sanctuary speaks it and only the higher ranking Aristocrats can understand it. The only people who can speak High Speech out loud is the ruling family and when addressing the ruling family directly, so umm... I just got my last stack of stone tied up, sorry! I'm absolutely interested in trading pigment, though. When are you thinking of developing the resource, and how could I help?

"You bring happiness to a somber door, kinsman. I welcome you for it! Cassandra and Tikta are well, though we do not see them often ourselves. They have taken residence in the north of Raaneka, where Tikta may reflect upon the Miracle Pools and our ancestors." He chuckled. "If the common folk tell it truly Cassandra has bent the starlings to her will, and uses them to gather news of the world. She has always been our most cunning diplomat."

I actually wrapped that up pretty quick. Lady Lomadi hopped over to find out why the music from her homeland suddenly stopped in a court that probably freaks her out a little. :smalltongue: I guess you two are free to talk, though!

((Achievement Unlocked! Splitting the Party!))

"Emperor Olwyt," she said, bowing her head, "The Winters may be harsh in Ashenia, but I have never experienced such a biting cold."
"Thank you Lady Sakuranbo. I hope you will have no objection if I request that your scribes are not present as the Emperor and I deliberate? My guards will ensure our safety. Their swords will remain sheathed as we are guests here."
As she spoke, her guards took positions on either side of the door, four outside and two inside. When Lord David arrived, Idrisa moved to the table and sat down, removing her gloves as she did. (I assume the scholars have left by this point, if not, Idrisa's going to make them. Politely of course.)
"Come gentlemen, one should not stand to discuss affairs of state.
"Might I see that document?"
Assuming Emperor Olwyt complies, she begins to peruse it, making mental notes of sections that need alteration.

「Stranger: Felitora」

Shkura steepled his fingers again and whispered,
"Henceforth when discussing anything with my kin I shall introduce you as Scouting Officer Felix Shrodinger, Cousin to the Future Ruler of Felitora, a far away land. Trust me; it'll help you greatly."
Shkura inclined his head slightly and grandly motioned in the direction of the music he had mentioned earlier, "If you would care to follow me, let us go forth and appreciate the music!" Leaning his head to one side once more and gesturing awkwardly with one hand Shkur asks, "What is the music like where you live?"

You could probably add some of your answers to your Felitora nation fluff I think. In a way that makes sense, even though most of it's not hyper-relevant to very much at all.

Do you want me to ask about your lands at some point? The pair could run into umm... another Yorukuninin or Ameshi Kouri's doppelganger.

「Party: Ashenia」

At the casual use of a foreign title and her given name, Sakuranbo showed barely a sign there was anything wrong at all. Simply noting the Princess is of Ashenia so she may supply the information to the appropriate people for the appropriate records, Sakuranbo keeps a professional face as the Princess continues to blunder with a statement on the Scholars.

Moving to one side carefully to clear the doorway and leave for important matters more quickly, Sakuranbo responds to the Princess, "I can certainly understand why you would feel the need to bring your guards with you."

Allowing the Princess full view of the Scholars, Sakuranbo formally excuses herself and strides away to formalize the newly formed treaty she held. Shortly afterward, the Scholars had finished sorting and packing their equipment. One of them tapped the tip of their nose to the Tekorvanin in murky yellow robe with a green armband. With that, said Tekorvanin bowed deeper than one could think possible to the current company and left shortly after the Scholars.

In the middle of the table were several small morsels of meat, a few bowls of rice and several small packages of strange fungi and raw meat alongside a sampling of alcoholic beverages. The Tekorvanin in the murkey yellow robe had been sorting several blank pages of parchment for the Peace Conference at the bidding of Akira Sakuranbo and left several of them on a side table next to a small strange thorny plant with a black trunk and round deep green leaves.

"Well met, Sir Kaaba Zirvad."
She smiled and said to both the Scouts and the Bushi,
"Shall we go inside? My people do not handle the cold that well. Also, I need to speak to the one who holds the treaty Sanctuary has made with the Grand Coalition to sign it."

She chuckled with myrth.
"We wouldn't be good allies if we did not sign it, would we?
And lastly, I would like to know where the UN-GC peace conference is being held. I have important business there aswell. Afterwards though, I would be delighted to have a talk with some of you, if you wish."

She laughed, a crystal clear laugh that echoed all around them.
"Maybe even a little sparring match!"

Meanwhile, Eleljak and Paryna were chuckled at Nyllana. When people were not comfortable with her presence, she always went into "Cheer Mode", trying to create an informal atmosphere to lighten things up. She was aware of her position as a queen, however, she did not think she was above the common man. Eleljak for one, thought that to be a very good quality to have for a queen as strangly and beautiful looking as her.

Sorry, I was a bit slow there. I think we wrapped up the two conversations nicely.
As Lady Lomady takes her leave, Inaun seems to be surprised by the commotion, but then begins to wander through the exhibition. He examines the foreign art, taking care not to strive to far from his chieftain.

Ania and Näiyop listen attentively while the Aristocrat speaks. "Your account of the Lost is most curious. We know of no other places aside from the Tears of the Sun that are habitable and there are no stories of other tribes. But until very recently, we also assumed that the icy plains of Wenyavuk stretched into eternity and were mistaken. I am no scholar of our lore, so I suppose there might be mention of further Tears that are lost to us or were never known. If you would like, I will gladly consult storytellers of the four tribs once we return home. Concerning our gift, there is no need for a formal gesture in its presentation to your people, we simply found it inappropriate to not contribute ourselves and would much oblige a public display. We are sure the High prince will appreciate it at his own discretion." Näiyop gently touches his sisters arm and she finishes her sentence before pausing. The chieftain then adds "But we would value a chance to discuss trade later. You possess much that can make life simpler for my people. If not with the High Prince, maybe with a representative?"

As the Ranneki delegation departs, Jonas steps over and grabs his daughter Evelyn.

“We are having a family meeting.” He said. His look brooked no defiance. He had The Stare, as his family called it. Even as an adult, Evelyn felt cowed. Reluctantly, he agreed.

“Let us go and introduce ourselves first.” He suggested.

Later:

At some point during the event, the Spirit Shaman Whisper manages to make contact with Lord Bordeaux. She speaks quietly, yet her word seem to carry a tone of respect and gravity. “Amber Grant would like to meet with you. At your convienence. She feels the need to explain her recent actions.”

Zirvad bows again, "Thank you. Well met, Eiengard Nyallana of Kasumor."

Politely, two of the Scouts and the lone Bushi help guide Nyallana and her companions through the myriad of shelters the Tekorvanin favoured for the outdoors toward the entrance of Aes Shinchuu. Since the last time those from the Hurosha Empire had heard of Aes Shinchuu, a new statue of a Yorukuninin Aristocrat holding a full length staff tipped with a Ketsuek Krystal ornamentation stared past them toward the city proper.

"You'd win. I don't know. I don't know a lot of what the Aristocrat I work for does, but I know there are some places set aside for foreigners. I might see your prowess there." Zirvad spoke as formally as he could, though his sentences were short and simply put.

On the way the Scouts explained where the Peace Conference they had recently heard from one of the Messengers 「a group Nyallana had not yet heard of」 and the fact the Emperor Olwyt was already there, though only to finalize a treaty uninterrupted.

If you wanted to show off some Martial Arts, go right ahead.

"Interesting. I hope you will like this."

Shkura leads the cat person to a trio of Yorukuninin with nothing special about them aside from their flowing movements as two of them slid and tapped their fingers over various places of the Ketsuek Krystal assembled around them. The sound was strange, as though some mythical beast were singing alongside a siren. The final one had a strange stick with string. He slid the string along a piece of steel forming the outline of the crescent. This instrument emitted a warbling sound ranging from deep tones which caused very slight vibrations to run through nearby onlookers' feet to pitches closer to a man's voice.

Shkura swayed very slightly to the music and asked softly, "Is this piece not beautiful?"

「Party: Wenyavuk」

"It was such a long time ago and perhaps the Tekorvan history is incorrect or evidence of the Lost has been wiped clear from the face of the Earth. After all, they only passed through. Perhaps somehow the stories of the Lost are even older than we had perhaps thought at first." Akira Shirokinu bows and listens politely to the rest of the tale. "Intriguing. You lands, umm... Wenyavuk? Sound a nice place once one finds a way around the extreme cold."

Nodding at the Na'nuk's request Shirokinu gave him directions toward one of the spaces set aside for another display.

Sorry it took so long.

The young woodwind girl strode towards her brother who had begun once again to move towards the Yorukun with the bleeding lip.

Amber and the rest of the party selected some refreshments from the Tekorvanin waiters and wandered amongst the exhibits, waiting on one of the formal greeters to be free to introduce them.

LATER ON...

The family found a small corner, and daddy hustled them into it. For a time no one spoke. The two girls would not even look each other in the eye. As the silence dragged on, each tried to speak, but something held them back.

Finally it was Evelyn who broke the silence. “Why did you try to kill me? I’m your sister!” She cried.

“We both were drunk. Yes, I was gloating. I’m sorry but…”

“Not then!” She sobbed. “Later that night.”

Jonas put his arm around Evelyn giving her a literal shoulder to cry upon. He stared at Amber darkly.

“Dad, I don’t know what she is talking about! Honest!”

Jonas was frustrated. His two girls had always fought- they both had literal scars showing their malice towards each other. He didn’t want to believe Amber had actually tried to kill Evelyn, but… “What happened after you got Anguri home? You disappeared.” He felt Evelyn stiffen, but he hugged her tighter to keep her from reacting.

“I took off. Took a canoe over to the outflow and watched the lava pour into the sea. It helped me calm down and sober up.”

Evelyn couldn’t take it. She shook her father off and went after Amber, fists flying. “Liar! You sent someone to my cabin to kill me! I had to run for my life.” Several blows connected with Amber, who folded around herself protectively.

Jonas grabbed Evelyns hands and spun her around. “Enough!” He growled.

“You did always love her more!” Anger began to mix with grief once again. “Even now you protect her!” She fought to get free.

“Evvy!” He gave her a shake. “Evelyn! Stop it. Amber is pregnant.” She stopped. She stared into Amber’s eyes, then down at her belly. Then she turned and hurried off. Amber reached for her sister, but her father stopped her.

“Let her go. We have a bigger problem.” Amber stared at her father quizzically. He continued, “You two fought worse than two cats in a sack while you were growing up. I swear if you two weren’t teaming up against someone, you fought each other. But never, EVER, did I believe you two would mean harm to the other.”

“Dad, I never..”

Jonas held his hand up, forestalling her. “I believe you. Even when I heard about the fight I couldn’t see the malice in it. ‘Sisters against the world’ isn’t that what you two always said?” Amber nodded weakly, sadly. Then slowly, she found her father’s thinking.

“By morning, she was gone on a merchant ship. I stopped by her cabin. She had left in a hurry.”

Jonas nodded, “Evvy wasn’t lying. Someone frightened her enough to flee. Somehow got her to believe it was your fault.” He looked at his other daughter. “You’ve got a traitor Amby. Working against your from day 1.”

“I’ve got to find Ioz.” She sounded worried, very worried.

Her father nodded. “I’ll find Evvy”

Amber and her delegation found the Na'nuk delegations some time the next day. Amber seemed much more composed than she did the night before.
"]"Greetings!" She said warmly. "It is so seldom we of the islands have a chance to meet people from the far north. You simply MUST tell me all about your lands."

Deliberations between the UN and the GC

Idrisa had read through the draft treaty provided by the Emperor of Ignato.
"This mostly seems to be in order. The first and second terms are what we discussed through correspondence. A guarantee of twenty years peace will go over very well with my people. The third and fourth terms are not up to me to decide, those matters are for Lord David to consider.
"However, if I might ask one thing... Why do you need Cree sailors to inform your people how to sail? Our sailing techniques are not fundamentally different to your own."

It's true, they're not. Crima never did get that technology promised to us by the Jewelled Cities.

Time Skip

Cantus Sai, no point travelling all this way and not at least looking

The deliberations with the Emperor of Ignato finished, the Princess Regent stepped through the doors to the hall where the main event was being held accompanied only by the captain of her personal guard. Most of her guards waited outside for her return, the bright scarlet of their cloaks and shining mithril of their armour sure to make them stand out. She scanned the crowd, looking for the figures of Jonas and Amber Grumby. True, she had never seen them, but she had descriptions from those who had.
Alas, there were too many people and art displays in the way, best to mingle and hope for the best.

Well then, never mind the sailors... Dang, getting ocean tech seems to be impossible ;P

"Are they not? I had been informed the Jeweled Cities had made arrangements with the late Umajin to pass on that technology to him at the Central Sea Conference. If not then no matter, the flotilla fleet alone shall be all that is necessary and your sailors need not instruct our people. If of course such an agreement is approved by his Grace Lord David."

"I'm afraid I've had little dealing the the Cities. We had a correspondence regarding establishing sea cooperation but they seem intent to control the seas solely and seeing now that they failed to follow through on their deal with the Union and perhaps committed acts of terrorism I must say any hopes there hve been shattered." Olwyt said, shocked to hear all this of the Jeweled Cities, though they were pirates so only so much could be expected of them,

"If I do happen to talk with them however I will gladly pass on any information I gather."

"Well then I believe this to be concluded," Olwyt said, signing the agreement, "I shall ensure the rest of the necessary GC parties ratify this as well." he added as he passed the agreement to the Union representatives, "Thank you both for your cooperation and I pray that our alliances may prosper and develop and that violence never again finds itself upon our doorsteps."

For Elemental only:
Idrisa. As regent, we must discuss what concerns I brought up earlier, at the peace talks. If we are to keep a hold of the economics of Sulvan's Fury, we must influence those elections in our favor. I have a suggestion, if you will listen...

Ania thanks Shirokinu and the two Na'nuk make their way through the conversing nobles towards the space the Aristocrat had pointed out. Once there, Näiyop holds the case while his sister opens it and then carefully produces an amber figurine to place it on the pedestal. The foot-sized sculpture has the shape of a blazing fire and appears to be cut from a single piece of amber with hues ranging from red to bright yellow. "I wish we could show them how it looks once lighted", Näiyop remarks as he glances over at the commotion over the Raneekian delegation "but I suppose that might not be the wisest choice."

Ania responds with an amiable smile, a hint of excitement is clear in her eyes "I will gladly, but only if you return the favor!" She laughs "There is so much green here. I cannot imagine how much more it has to be even further south. And the sea, you must tell me of the sea! Water all the way to the horizon, isn't it?" A stern yet amused look from her brother calms her down a little, but the sparkle in her eyes remains, as the begins to tell tales of the frozen wasteland and the three Tears of the Sun that lie within, their beauty not in glamorous colors but in the fact that they are not blindingly white, frozen and hostile.

With the hosts pre-occupied, the Jeweled Cities delegation nevertheless presented their gift- a large basket of pineapples, coconuts, mangos, and other hard-covering tropical fruits. Amber mentioned that she hoped the beautiful bat would enjoy them. She seemed captivated by the creature.

LATER...

Amber spotted both the Emperor of Ignato and the Princess Regent of Ashenia. The Emperor's reputation intimidated her, so she made an attempt to speak to track down the Princess.

It was about that time that Jonas went to find Evelyn, intent on continuing their reunion.

Approaching the woman, she bowed and introduced herself, then cordially asked how her travels went.

OOC: since this seems to have lost some steam, I will keep it short.
IC: Amber chats for a while about the islands and the water, all the good and bad. She seems certain that the ocean's deadly depths are as cruel as the harsh winters must be.

She is willing to trade tropical fruit for furs, but suggests kelp-olive oil instead. It is useful for illumination in lamps, and for cooking. For an area poor in wood, that would allow a portion of the meager resources to go to building rather than being consumed heating them.

Lord Ujval laughed. "Do not be so sure, my lord! I believe Cassandra took the post because 'someone has to keep you Raaneki from embarrassing yourselves beyond your borders.' I assure you none of her fire has abated." He swirled the wine in his goblet. "You are of course welcome to visit our lands, but I believe she plans to attend the Last Visitation in Guilder as well."

Lady Lomadi joined her husband when Lord David began discussing diplomacy. The Lord of Raaneka was powerless without his Lady, and vice versa. "Fortune smiles upon us," she said, idly toying with a bangle on her wrist. "We have recently ceased trade of lumber with our neighbors in Razdis, and Ujval: could you imagine the sparkle of our Heartwine through the walls of a glass bottle?"

A smile graced Lord Ujval's lips as he pondered. "Indeed! Heartwine is beautiful and new to Raaneka. It deserves a beautiful, new vessel! The deal is struck. However," he said, hesitating. "I am saddened by news of Chief Umajin's demise. My brother established a trade of wine and lumber for Crimar horses almost twenty years ago, but times change. We cherish Crimar horses, but we would love to share Raaneki wine with more of the people of Telluris. Would you object to a new deal?"

Establish ongoing trade of Raaneki Lumber for Solari Glass.

With the High Priestess
A shame about that, I suppose. Nothing I could say would sway your position? Very well. As for gems... no, I cannot think of a need for them. However, before you leave, I have something to discuss concerning the other side of your occupation...
Something concerning your goddess, in fact. I have first in my life followed the way of my ancestors, and second that of the Lord of Fire. The first offers nothing to a man, while the second's preachings are an affront to the legacy of Bordeux. Your goddess, however... frost makes a man strong. Ah. The island queen. I have much to say to you, but first, I must find the Princess Regent. Follow me. Striding off, he could care less about whether she followed or not. His gut, however, told him that she would- she seemed to harbor guilt and a need for explanation.

Later, once we've located Idrisa...
I have much to say to you. Shall we start with the breaching of our treaty, or the murder of the Cree?

That is more like the daughter I remember! a small grin splitting his normally grave visage. I may very well come south before I die. Perhaps go farther south than our maps even know.
Hmm... Yes, the second agreement is fine. Glass for wood. As for the adjustment... I don't think I could agree. Not without, at least, other compensations.

Lord Ujval's expression changed to something very few foreigners had seen on a Raaneki. Where before there had been slightly self-deprecating grace, now there was a familiar interest. He tossed a glance at his wife. Her words were as smooth as silk.

"Name your price."

Surely you must be jesting... Yet, should what my daughter said be true... It is unlikely. I am old enough to be your father, Lady. Your words swell my pride, and yet wound my dignity, whatever I can scrape up after all these long years. Whether you jest or not, my intent was to ask for the marriages of my sons to, perhaps, your daughters or others within your league.

OK, so that did come out a bit off. But was still alluding to marriages for my sons, man! :smallwink:

Amber was taken aback. She had expected some consternation about her expulsion of the non-noble students, but murder?

Confusion reigned. She looked back and forth between the two regents. "Murder?"

LATER

Jonas found Evelyn just outside. She stood wrapped up in her heavy cloak, staring out into the blackness of the cold night. Torchlight shone off her inner eyelid, making her eyes seem to glow. Tears streaked her cheeks.

He touched her shoulder lightly. Turning, she crumpled into her father’s grasp. She cried. For a long time, she cried. “Ten years. Ten years of being away. Being alone.”

Jonas misunderstood. “The Raaneki isolated you?”

“No dad”, she snuffled. “Anguri and her family are truly our cousins. They treated me well.” She laughed a bit, “There was even this old man. A sculptor. Took me in for over a year while he sculpted my likeness.” The memory lightened her mood a bit. “But it wasn’t home.”

“Come home now. It was a misunderstanding.”

She shook her head, “No. I can’t go home now.” Grief overcame her again, “I’ve lost everything Amber has- no respect, no man, no children. My attempts to find my own place failed. I failed.” The tears came again.

“Hey, Evvy. Hey”. Jonas tried to sound consoling, but the cold wracked his lungs, sending him into a coughing fit. “Pardon me. Evvy, my children don’t fail. You never have. Struggle, sure. Flounder when the seas get rough? We all do. When storm threaten, what do we do?” He said, trying to smile.

She looked up. Age and salty seas had weathered her father. But beneath all that, his eyes still radiated endless care and compassion. For a moment, she was back as a child on his knee, and she repeated the answer she learned by rote, “We turn into the wind and take it on.”

“That’s my girl.” He hugged her tight, suppressing another coughing fit in the process. “Go rest now. Tomorrow we’ll talk with Amber together. She’s facing some storms right now herself”

Yes. From what I was told, your sailors lead the Cree into a powerful storm- one which no experienced sailor would sail in, let alone with novices- and they 'died'. Needless to say, I am... displeased. Further more, I have not heard from the governor of the region that the men have returned.

Eight. Of course. Forgive me, the memory of an old man.
An agreement, of what kind? Trade, defense... Aggression? What would the terms of those be?

"Perhaps all?" Olwyt said, stroking his chin,

"In any event this is not the time or place, should you come to a decision or wish to discuss more I encourage you both to contact me once the festivities here have concluded in my camp here." Olwyt explained the directions to his quarters before leaning back.

If there's no more milords?"

Semi-OOC - For Finalization The Agreement

1.) All Union troops will be recalled from Celero and no further violence shall occur between UN and GC forces for a period of time numbering at least 20 years.

2.) Keldagrim shall make no claim to Sulvan's Fury

3.) Bordeux Shall make no claim to Eyrecradia

4.) The Union shall maintain their militaries within the restriction of 8% of their population.

5.) The Union shall send the flotilla of Cree ships to Celero and demilitarize or transfer 1 unit of Cree warriors to another Union region.

It's probably easier to keep it as is but you can show up if you want. It might not be thematically smooth though and isn't all that necessary but you're welcome as a GC member. I plan to post the agreement in the GC thread as well as in my actions for review and ratification.

I have no quarrel with the first four positions. However, I must object to relinquishing control of what amounts to the entirety of my fleet- a fleet which must, I might add, patrol many leagues of shore- to a foreign power of any sort. Furthermore, I have already fulfilled the second part of the that point- the Cree are invading the lands of the Heartgouger to the west.

Your initial proposal did not involve me giving up my only fleet of ships. If I had ten thousand ships, ten would be leaves in the wind to me. However, when all I have are ten, they are more precious to me than pearls. I will give you my ships... In exchange for wood for Ithicar and Cassia.

Ithicar is 26, Cassia is 43. So wood there when I conquer it.

Olwyt chose not to grab the initial offer that had written on it the agreement to send the ships to Celero and Ignato,

"I do not desire your ships, they are not of any quality beyond what we can reproduce within the GC. Rather, I was thinking of establishing trade. Resource for resource."

They each have their girlhood fascinations, but I could not say what their choice will be. We know many young men and women seeking marriage, but, sadly, none of our kin."

Basically, no one in my family tree is of marriageable age, and Raaneka doesn't promise marriage in advance. However, I'd be happy to create some young woman of noble birth who would love to marry one of your sons.

Something approximating relief crossed her face, though she was still pale. At least she understood.

"There was a hurricane. A bad one. It didn't travel like it should. Things went bad. Our losses were..." Suddenly Amber got a queasy look. She swallowed hard a couple of times.

The older woman standing next to her spoke. "Regents, I am Whisper, shaman of the air and an advisor to Amber. Please forgive her. She is not well."

She picked up where Amber left off. "We expected the storm to crash into the island. Many of our people fled to the leeward side for protection. The storm took an unexpected route, sweeping behind the island."

She turned and addressed the Princess directly, "Your sturdy stone buildings saved countless lives, for the Academy is on the leeward side of that island. We thank you." Then she returned to the topic. "The Crima were on the Isle of Birds learning how to select proper timber. It is not an island to be on in a hurricane."

Now her tone became a bit more clipped. "Our expert sailors followed what we preached- they followed the path we expected to be safe."

By now, Amber had recovered. Placing a restraining hand on the shaman, she took up the story. "It wasn't. We lost a great many people." Sadness crept into her voice. "I sent a letter of condolensces to the Khan about the death of his people. I never heard anything back. He was too busy with war."

The updated terms:

- Establish new ongoing trade of Raaneki Lumber for Crimar Horses.
- Bhavi Asane, a young Raaneki noblewoman, will marry one of the sons of Lord David Bordeux to seal the agreement.

(Garthuna & Syana)

Garthuna just nodded dumbly as he looked into the strangely beautiful face of the Yorukun and began to follow her away.

"Garthuna!" Syana hissed as she neared her brother but he was already moving away and suddenly a jostle of people blocked her view and she was forced to move around them, putting more distance between herself and her brother.

"Who is that woman?" She asked her Tekorvan accomplice as she moved again to catch up to her brother, trying her best not to cause a scene by running him down but still trying to keep pace.

The strange woman walked directly outside and toward one of the houses in the street without breaking her act. She disappeared inside. If Garuntha were to try the door he would notice that it was unlocked.

Meanwhile...

Syana's question did not fall on deaf ears though the Tekorvanin had disappeared. Instead, the strange lady who had approached her answered.

"I do not know. Probably nobody important... I need to speak with this couple over here. I'm sure your brother is not too far away."

(Garthuna)

Shivering in the cold without his coat Garthuna marched through the dark street after the woman, he reached the door the Yokurna had entered and pushed it, letting himself into the room beyond.

(Syana)

Syana looked up at the woman as she spoke, a puzzled look on her face. She began to move away from her towards where she had last seen her brother, but she didn't see him or the woman he'd been following anymore. Trying to keep calm she looked around the room again, keeping her eyes peeled for any sign of Garthuna. She stayed near where she'd seen him last, slipping between the other guests and searching in circles, looking for where he might have gone.

「Garthuna: Ignato Empire」

The building was little warmer than the street outside, the cold stone floor was thick with dust and the small hollow in the far wall was filled with cobwebs. A round table almost filled the little room where the strange woman sat wiping the small trickle of blood from the corner of her mouth. The table itself seemed to be the newest item in the room, a simple table of smooth light wood. The chairs were small slabs of stone and there was plenty of seats if Garthuna wished to sit down.

"I realized it does nothing for you if you are confused, but in case something were to happen to me please remember the name 'Keshten Granazium' for he is at the root of this problem."

Gesturing toward the small hollow, the lady speaks softly without interrupting Garthuna, "Though it isn't meant for such I have a small vial of Bloodfire on my person if you require more warmth. I'll... I'll wear my travelling clothes so I am not affected as much by it, but I cannot ignore it for long."

「Syana: Ignato Empire」

A Yorukuninin with lesser Hanseiyoku bumps into Syana and begins to apologize before making note that she appeared to have been searching.

"Milady or... Whichever title you do prefer. I'm afraid I do not know from where you hail. May I be of any assistance?" the fellow assumed she was perhaps one of the rulers present and as such swallowed his pride. Despite having to supress his arrogance, he truly wished to assist in the search if only to get rid of some of his own boredom.

Odd though it was, he was not much interested in Art.

"K-k-keshten Granaz-s-s-ium," he repeated through chattering teeth.

"N-n-no n-n-need for th-th-that," he responded to her offer, trying but failing to keep his jaw clenched and still.

"Just t-t-tell me wh-what happened?"

(Syana)

Syana looked up at the Yorukun briefly, deciding whether to explain or not and deciding she may as well,

"I'm looking for my brother, and if you're planning on helping titles are just going to slow things down, call me Syana," she replied evenly, "Last I saw he was chasing after some Yorukun woman with a bloody lip. I don't know where they got off to but Garthuna isn't the brightest lad so I need to find him before he gets into too much trouble. Do you have any ideas?"

「Garthuna: Ignato Empire」

"Mmm... Well it is difficult to speak through teeth which clash together at such high speeds." the strange lady reached under the table and revealed a heavy black coat with strange dark green and blue scales attached to it and a black cloak made from some sort of black silk-like cloth lined with white fur speckled with dark blue.

"You are a little bigger than I am I think, but these may fit. Now, as for your question..." she paused for a moment, tapping her chin with a thoughtful finger.

"I do not remember much, but due to you bringing me out of the strange liquid's embrace I remember a little of the command I was given. I remember I was to go to Aristocrat Ameshi Kouri's house after an 'Emperor Olwyt' had left and procure some materials from there."

The lady didn't notice her calm facade had broken as she scowled in concentration. "I think these materials were important in creating a type of poison used to make someone... fade away. Aside from that, all I remember is the name 'Keshten Granazium' which repeated over and over in my mind as I walked."

「Syana: Ignato Empire」

A little surprised at her forwardness, the fellow Syana had been speaking to decided she was from a far off land with little knowledge of the people who lived here.

"Syana. Well, I did see them exit the Hall but following her is probably not such a good idea right now. She has been..." the Yorukunin paused slightly, the only indication he was also uncomfortable with goings on, "She is not well at all. But more importantly, did you see who... Umm... Who was around her when she started acting this way?"

"Emperor Olwyt Ignato is my father," he said, trying to be helpful, "But I've never heard of Keshten Granazium. And what kind of liquid can compel you to act out the commands of another?"

(Syana)

"You saw them leave the building?" she asked, already moving towards the exit door near where her brother had disappeared and grabbing the Yorukun's wrist intending to drag him along, "Who cares who she was talking to, we need to find my brother."

The lady took the coat the young lad had left and tossed it casually over her shoulders as she spoke.

"An incredibly dangerous one. It is absorbed through the skin and most certainly illegal. Furthermore, were the one attempting to compel another to mistakenly touch the liquid themself..." the lady shivers very slightly, "In any case, it's extremely rare. Whoever had obtained it must be very powerful within our society."

Remembering the young man's earlier statement she adds, "While I do not think he is in any danger, perhaps we should go check on your father if he is not too busy. Just in case. With your permission of course Emperor's Son Ignato."

The lady searched through a rucksack on the floor and pulls out a cowled black robe with simple embroidery on it and a half-mask. Placing the coat on the table, she quickly dons the robe as she listens for the young man's response.

Time was not something they could rely on having.

「Syana: Ignato Empire」

His pride hurt immensely, the Yorukuninin attempts to wrest free from Syana's grip, though he was also very curious and did not wish for her to uncover more of what was going on before he did. Attempting to instead lead rather than being dragged, he attempts to lower his voice though he does not manage to do a very good job.

"Alright, though it could be dangerous. Though the perpetrators should be found before... before they do anything else. Of all times, during the 'Song of the Soul' they attempt to compel another? A clear violation of the Soul, though not many of my brethren entirely agree..." he realized he was almost babbling. His face grew hot as he closed his mouth and tried to regain a calm state of mind and body.

We should get going immediately before any mind controlled liquid touchers get after us!" He said with an urgency matched only by his clear uncertainty on what exactly was going on.

(Syana)

Syana threw her hand down to her side as the Yorukun wrested free and stepped in front of her to try and whisper to her.

"Compel?" she asked, "Like forcing someone to do something? If that's the case we need to find my brother first, he could wind up convinced to do something very stupid..." she began to move around the Yorukun and towards the door again, clearly now more worried than agitated with her brother's absence.

Just a suggestion that like the twenty year guarantee of no war, the reduction in maximum army size has the same time limit on it.

She is willing to trade tropical fruit for furs, but suggests kelp-olive oil instead. It is useful for illumination in lamps, and for cooking. For an area poor in wood, that would allow a portion of the meager resources to go to building rather than being consumed heating them.

Näiyop nods "This is true, your words are wise. That is why we also try to obtain timber and coal. But soon I will need to send my people south for trade and diplomacy and I need them to want to go. "We have upheld our end of this treaty, yet you consistently fail to do so. In our situation, what would you do?"

"Perhaps speak with us!" Amber corrected herself, she hadn't meant to seem so strident.

"When we informed the Crima governmnet of what happened, we received nothing in reply. Nothing. No offer of help, no new group of students, nothing. Instead, Lord Umajin took the one unit of ships we helped him build and used it in his war." Again, the thought of all that death made her queasy, but she swallowed hard and continued. "We built docking and ship building facilities in Ryazen bay at our own expense. We helped Crima build ships. We educated his experts, so they had the knowledge to build them on their own. We upheld all of our agreements."

A certain amount of anger crept back into her tone, despite her best efforts. "We were asked our stance in the war. We said we favored peace, and would not take a side. So we were disregarded, our views tossed aside. And then we saw our own past coming back, all our fears being confirmed in a horrible way."

My understanding from this post http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=17142091&postcount=198 is that the ships were actually used as part of the battle, not just to transport troops to some debarkation point for them to join the rest of the army. Since that is my OOC understanding, it is Amber's IC understanding.

「Party: Pryonia」

Shadou Elysius himself accompanies the Pryonian party to the Hall where many of the exhibits were being displayed. Excusing himself shortly after the Pryonians had been anounced, Shadou strides quickly toward the dais at the end of the Hall where only a few Aristocrats were remaining in seats around the base of the dais.

Meanwhile, the Tekorvanin lead the rest of the Pryonians to set up their display in a building directly across from the main Hall. The doorway was fairly large, leading to a small room where a few pairs of boots lay neatly along the side of the wall. Beyond this, a fairly large square room had had its plain stone floor recently cleaned. For lighting, several torches burned brightly along the edges of the room and a couple of Tekorvanin tentatively tended to a fire pit in the middle of the room. Were one to look up, the roof was well vented so the smoke would not gather inside.

「Garuntha: Ignato Empire」

"Don't worry. As I said, it is very rare. In fact, I highly doubt they had more than what they used on me." a little amused at Garuntha's use of words, the Yorukuninin lady nonetheless recognized his sense of urgency and walks toward the door. At the door, she informs Son of Ignato, "Although, with how incredibly obvious the compulsion is I do wonder whether I was not used as a distraction or perhaps a way to implicate Ameshi. Perhaps...

Just as confused as the young lad she was accompanying, she began to ponder about why she was sent to retrieve ingredients for an oderless, colourless, tasteless, fatal concoction.

「Syana: Ignato Empire」

The fellow seemed a little surprised before quickly remembering Syana likely did not know much of their lands. "I don't think that is likely, though if he gets in the way..."

He picks up the pace slightly while being careful not to leave Syana behind.

Are we at the door yet? Are you trying to run your characters in hilarious circles or do you think Syana will spot Garuntha and the strange lady?

Uhh, I should probably have them supply a name sometime soon. XD

Discussion with the Jewelled Cities

"Absolute nonsense. It is not our responsibility to remind you to fulfil your obligations. You are the leader of a sovereign state, not some schoolgirl who's forgotten her history texts."
Idrisa reached into the sleeve of her robe and removed a sheet of parchment.
"However, seeing as you seem to think it is our responsibility, we will do so;
"The Jewelled Cities shall aid in the construction of a fleet of armed merchant vessels for the Khalifate of Crima."
She looked up at Amber.
"Our records do not record your craftsmen working towards this at any point in the last thirteen years. Furthermore, no where in this treaty does it stipulate that Crima could not build their own ships of war and use them in war.
"High Chieftain Umajin may have neglected to respond to your communications, but that matter not. Your father made this agreement with us in good faith and you dishonour him by reneging on it, just as I would dishonour mine by letting this slide."
My understanding was that the Jewelled Cities was supposed to spend an action to build ships for Crima. You never did.

Discussion with the Jewelled Cities

Once again, Amber shook her head. She looked around, hoping her father might return. He was nowhere in sight. She she took a deep breath, and tried to speak diplomatically.

"Therein might lie the crux of our disagreement. We took in a group of Crima Shipwrights to train in proper ship building, deep sea sailing, and open water navigation. While they were being trained, it is my understanding that a group of our experts oversaw the building of a group of armed merchantment at Ryazen Bay for Crima."

"It is my understanding that it was these peaceful vessels of commerce that were used as troops ships and armed attack platforms." Her disdain was clear.

That might be the cause of some of the OOC, as well as IC, confusion. We agreed to the treaty in round 6, and I honestly thought that Crima would spend an action building ships and that they would get access to "deep sea ships" from the Jeweled Cities. The round after that, they would gain it permanently once their experts were trained. Since he did build a unit of ships in round 7, and did claim "sea technology" in the battle, I assumed that portion fulfilled. .

He was much more comfortable in warmer lands, but Paco Çimar Guzman was a man of duty, so he did as he had been told by his former master. He wore at least three cloaks over one another to keep warm, as if he needed to be as hot as hell. He arrived late in this cold, but since he hadn't been at the Temple since ages he wouldn't know if they'd already received word back from Ashenia, the Jewelled Cities, or the Hurosha Empire. Perhaps they and their teachers might be present here. He hoped they were, just so that this trip hadn't been for nothing. He brushed some snowflakes off his moustache and entered the large tent that was used as a hall for the event, gave a bow to some attendants who noticed his entry, and made his way through to look for those whom had received his master's letters.

Peace Talks

"Putting a time limit on the reduction is agreeable," Olwyt nodded.

"As for Syana..." Olwyt mused the Regent's proposal a while, "Perhaps this is something we might discuss later tonight," he finally said, "I did intend to see some of the art here and my children no doubt are getting into some trouble I'll need to get them out of," Olwyt chuckled, pausing giving time for the Union representatives to voice any other concerns for the Peace Treaty they might have had.

Excellent. If there is nothing further from Lord David, we might as well write up a final version of this treaty. Who has the neatest hand?"
Out of a pocket of her robe, she withdrew a silver and leather case which she opened to reveal ink and and an assortment of quills.
"I look forward to our discussion later this evening."

Discussion with the Jewelled Cities

"From my father's notes on his discussion with King Jonas, it was made abundantly clear that discussed the construction of ships capable of war. You must be naive to assume we would not use all resources available to us should war threaten.
"And I don't think I should have to remind you that when it did eventuate I made to continue work on the Academy you requested even though the funds could have been more wisely spent."

Alas, given events in character, the treaty may have to be scrapped. After all, near as I can tell, we didn't seem to gain it permanently. All in all, the war caused a huge mess.
I do apologise.

A slow part of the evening, perhaps a perfect time for a monk to interject

Discussions with Olwyt and Amber finished, Idrisa decided she might as well look at some of this art, even though the Yorukuninin unnerved her greatly.
Eventually she found herself staring at what appeared to be the blossoms of a flowering tree set against mountain scenery. Surely it was too cold for such trees to grow, let alone bloom? Perhaps it was painted by a traveller.

Discussion with the Jewelled Cities

“Perhaps I am. Naïve, that is. Naïve to trust…” The Shaman Whisper put her hand on Amber’s arm, and she stopped. Instead, the calm, quiet voice of the Shaman took up the conversation.

“Princess, Ashenia does not know. You have no coasts. They did not suffer from the rape, the murder, the pillaging, and the arson our ancestors brought. Jonas was a pirate, but he saw the folly there. The depredations of the pirates on the continent was nothing compared to how they preyed upon their own. They were times we cannot forget. Ever. “

Amber spoke again, her hands resting on her belly. “I am terrified of what might happen if every realm becomes like we were. I don’t want a future like that.”

Jonas stood off to the side. He saw Amber engaged in a much needed conversation, and did not want to intrude. Noticing the man who matched the description in the letter he recieved, he moved to join him.

"I was born in hut in rainforest. In those days, my father was only leader of one tribe, barely recognized as chief of Scla´ca, one of many, who try to force our tribes to cooperate. Thousands like him were killed through our history, in battles and coups. But thanks to luck, and as he believes, thanks to his "Sky", he succeded. It´s hard to believe, that this pragmatic and sceptical man is now locked in his new palace, talking only to his god and lets others rule his country. They are atleast still scared of him, but if he dies, I will have to be quick and merciless, or Scla´ca dissolves again to bunch of fighting tribes and all work of my father will be lost. To´kuch´tu world!"
With these thoughts Na´tu, son of Kach´tu arrived to Cantus Sai. As his father, he was rather small and fragile for lizardfolk, but he had spark of ingenuity in his eyes. Although he thought really hard, his face was expressionless, he was taught by one of best diplomats of known world and in contrast to his father he almost lost his accent.
Although he was well prepared, he felt little discomfort by so many people. This was in fact his first individual trip, in others he was usually only observer of his father.
As he was getting closer, he could see Khan Owylt Ignato, who he have already seen, but after few seconds he disappeared again in crowd. Na´tu took deep breath and started to look for host.

(Garthuna)

Garthuna stood and followed the woman to the door, "Whatever the reason, I want to make sure my father is safe."

Ameshi, Keshten Granazium, so many names to keep up with. Suddenly a thought hit him,

"Um, what's your name?" he asked as they stepped out into the cold street.

(Syana)

Syana did not like the tone of "gets in the way" especially since her brother was notorious for doing just that.

"Well we ought to find him even faster then," she said, pushing the door open and entering the cold street.

Its chilled air hit her harder than she'd been ready for but she wasn't about to let it slow her down. She gritted her teeth and began to march down the street purposefully, checking to see if the Yorukun was still following her.

"Do you know where they might go?" she asked, shivering as she surveyed the dark street as best she could, looking for signs of her brother or the strange lady.

Yeah, just got to the door &
Hilarious Circles (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK6TXMsvgQg) unless the Yorukun spots them moving about now. Which is also a possibility now.

Haha, urgency can lead to a lack of names sometimes.

(Olwyt, Peace Talks)

"I have done too much writing on this treaty already I fear. Perhaps an Ashenite or Bordeux scholar ought to write it out lest I be accused of controlling the document," Olwyt smiled, "As do I."

You guys want to do the later meeting via PM?

Late on the second day of Cantus Sai...

A letter to Khan Olwyt Ignato from Amber Grant, Regina of the Jeweled Cities,

Greetings!

I regret that I am unable to meet with you in the grand hall hosting the Cantus Sai. Health complications from the trip and the cold have me resting upon advice of my physician. I hope that a day of rest will allow me to recover my strength.

Years ago, my father made an attempt to find a path to long term peace upon the Sea of the Golden Sun. Sadly, events out paced intentions, and the Central Sea Conference was not a success. It is my hope that with changes in leadership and the realization of the costs of war will, perhaps, allow for peace on the waves to become a reality.

Know that we of the Jeweled Cities are committed to peace. Our past as pirates and raiders is shameful to those of us in this new generation. Never again will we pose a threat to those on the continent, this is our vow. A cynic might point out that we lack the population to maintain both a significant navy and an army big enough to threaten a continental regime. That is also true. We have chosen the sea, as it chose us long ago.

What we offer to you, is a simple treaty of Water and Earth. We will train a group of your people in the arts of deep-water ship building, of navigation by the stars, and everything else taught at our academy. It should take roughly 6 to 7 years for you to have your experts. During that time, we will construct a unit of deep water transports for you, at our cost.

You may have heard rumors about reported duplicity in our dealings with Crima and the Union of the North. I still hope those issues can be put behind us, and our cooperation restored. Lord Umajin’s use of the armed merchantmen we built for him in the recent war was a dagger to our hearts. It was a violent reminder of a past we seek to put behind us. To that end, we will not build armed transports, nor teach your experts how to properly arm them. We will not stop you from doing so, we just will not be party to it. We cannot. The very shores echo with the cries of those our ancestors persecuted in assaults from the sea. Never again.

All we ask in return is a small piece of your earth. In Ryazen bay stands our model- a dock and ship building complex of our own. Walled off from the city, we keep it safe. We built it to our own specifications and with our own treasure. In the decade of its existence, there has been little or no trouble between our people and those of Crimar. We have a similar agreement with Scla’ca, and it too has been peaceful. By allowing us to police ourselves and control access to our port, we have virtally eliminated all of the clash of cultures so prevalent in most port cities.

We seek either a location adjacent to one of your ports to build, or an unpopulated place to build our harbor and port. We will construct this at our cost, as we did at Ryazen bay. From this port, we will provide safety to the vessels along the coast should they be distressed. We will not provide military assistance, nor join any group or convention. Neutrality is our best defense, and the only one we seek. We will stipulate, however, that we will be willing to transport soldiers from any one of our ports to another, provided both rulers agree.

Lastly, we would offer a regular trade of kelp-olive oil for silk from Nyroth. Kelp-olive oil is a key ingredient in ship building, as it seals the hulls of ships better than tar, and barnacles disdain the taste of it. Your silk will make fine sails, far stronger and lighter than our muslin ones.

Again, I apologize for not being able to discuss this with you in person. I leave you to consider my offer, and perhaps I will be well enough to speak with you tomorrow.

Amber Grant, Regina of the Jeweled Cities.

Salutations,

I offer my sympathies that your health has faltered in this moment but if what tales say of the Cities' perseverance and abilities are even half true I am confident you shall be recuperated in no time at all.

Yes, the Central Sea Conference is a stain in my memory, I was only advising my father as my children now do me, and though he was a great man he did not have within him the capacity for a delicate or careful actions. Yet even as I disagree with my late father's methods his message is something I still believe in, and that is why I sent no reply to your initial offer last year.

Woodwind and the Ignato Empire desire to secure tranquility domestically and abroad and to surrender our ability to traverse the seas protected is not something I was willing to do. Your own history is filled with those who preyed on the sea travelers unable to defend themselves and thus your original offer of disallowing armed ships to be constructed was not something I desired to discuss. Your new offer however has great appeal to me.

I would agree to all the terms outlined here barring a minor stipulation regarding your port city. It is not my policy to allow a location within my lands to fall outside the jurisdiction of Imperial law as such an agreement no doubt would allow, and while I do not doubt that doing so would prevent a "culture clash" as you describe it, it also would keep our people from truly beginning to understand one another. If you agree to keep your port city an open one, one over which you may appoint a governor but over whom Imperial law ultimately presides, then a deal including all your other offers may be made.

Emperor Olwyt Ignato, Ignato Empire
Khan of Woodwind

OOC: So would you be giving me the deep sea ship building tech this round and beginning construction of a 2 round project of a port city as well as building a unit of deep sea ships for me next round?

Paco's time at the Cantus Sai was going as smooth as it could for someone involved in an event for a religious people not his own in several ways. Luckily he kept to the side, only taking some strange wine he was offered politely, and admiring some art in-between his scanning of the people. He didn't know who to talk to, as the only faces from other countries that he knew were those of merchants whom had visited the Temple mountain and some old rulers likely to have passed on or at least abdicated by now.

He took a sip from his cup and motioned at a painting. "One might be surprised that such large, simple hands could come to such fine and elegant strokes of the brush, would you not say so?" he tried, an attempt to strike up a conversation with a woman whom admired them likewise.

It was then that Paco finally saw a face he recognized, though it had been ages ago and from afar. Pirate King, was it? He likely shouldn't call him that to his face, as he'd heard he'd been their first leader to try and steer them away from piracy. Or was he the second? He'd always paid less attention to politics than the spiritual matters of learning and faith. He gave Jonas a bow, and paused to let him speak first, still deliberating on how to address the man.

They would be used in hunting the beasts of the north and we will guarantee that they will not be turned against the people of Gunung."

After she finishes, Inaun adds "We have also heard rumors about the prophet Acal and his revelations about the God of Fire and Light you call the Lord of Fire. This is not unsimilar to Irfrin who protects the Na'nuk. Maybe we could also agree to an exchange of scholars, to expand our understanding of His ways? Of course this would only be an invitation. Maybe one that can wait until the trading route is fully established, to ease traveling through the frozen wastes."

Näiyop just barely hides his surprise at his advisor's offer, but he does not object.

When Rogar entered the hall, he had not quite expected the varied beauty of the exhibits. Ice statues, carved tree sprits, an oil painting of some sort of bat creature, mantises wrought from silver, all sorts of works of great art, religious or not. Berta would love this.
Godel saw the wonders, but for every work of art, he saw the skill and craftsmen ship behind it.

Amber was better by the next morning, and managed to find Khan Olwyt promptly.

After again excusing herself for her illness the day before, she managed some small talk about the art exhibits before getting down to business.

"I was gratified and relieved to recieve your response. I think we understand each other a bit more now than before. Of course, our port would be free and open to all that wish to use it. My governor and the few peacekeepers we would require would be there to handle the small things- drunk and disorderly, petty theft, drug use, and the like."

She smiled and seemed embarrased, just a bit. "Prostitiution, for example, is accepted, even expected. And my people's view on personal property could only be described as ambivalent. By having our area with walls and a gate, we can... constrain those actions and monitor them. Your Imperial Legate, of course, would still be the final authority in the city. ."

She thought about it for a moment then added, "But of course, you have experience with the Genivanians, so I would expect there to be little misunderstanding." She smiled.

"If everything is acceptable, I will have Whisper, my air shaman, document everything."

OOC: The plan would be that you send your future 'experts' to my academy this round as part of this conference action. As part of this conference, I send you a group of experts to 'assist' you in construction. That would allow you to spend an action this round or next round and gain a unit of deep sea ships- unarmed transport.
Next round [9], I would start a 2 round port construction project (my actions). But by that time, your 'experts' would be trained, so you would officially 'gain' Deep sea vessels as a technology on round 9, usable at the start of round 10.

The conversation paused for a moment. Unwilling to let silence take over, Amber launched into what she hoped might salvage the situation.

"We want peace, but we were wrong to act the way we did. If you desire, we will reinstate the people we sent away immediately. We will take on another group of experts to train in our technology. The only caveat is that we will not teach them to arm the ships."

She raised her hand as if to forestall an argument. "We won't stop you from doing it, and we won't protest if you figure out how to do it yourself. We just wont be a party to it. We have to honor our commitment to peace while honoring your independence."

She looked hopefully at the two regents across from her. "Can we salvage our relationship from the ruins of war? Or are we yet another casualty?"

It was then that Paco finally saw a face he recognized, though it had been ages ago and from afar. Pirate King, was it? He likely shouldn't call him that to his face, as he'd heard he'd been their first leader to try and steer them away from piracy. Or was he the second? Jonas approached Paco. He was happy. His daughters were on the way towards mending their relationship. Jonas had drank to that from his local hard liquor.

He spent some time with the Ranneki, talking of Anguri and flying birds. He drank heartily to her success- he thought of her as a granddaughter.

Amber told him she had made contact with the regents of the Union of the North. Jonas had drank to that as well- this time the odd local beverage.

He teetered up and threw his arms around the man, embracing him in a big hug.

"Paco! So glad you made it! I can.. <hic> canna tell you how mush I am lookin forward to trav.. trav.. going with you to the temple." His face flushed and eyes were bright.

「Na`tu: Scla`ca」

The stranger in a bird-like mask wove through the crowd toward the music of water over krystal, yet found something more interesting in front of him instead. A legged lizard larger than any he had seen before, yet still smaller than the Kinu Wyrm. The lizard appeared to be sentient and looking for someone...

"Indeed, are you lost?" the masked stranger's voice was barely more than a whisper.

「Garuntha: Ignato Empire」

Smiling, the lady attempted to say sympathetically, "Of course. Perhaps if I were in your shoes I would do the same."

Unless of course, I was the direct heir to the throne... she thought to herself.

The young Ignato's question almost surprised her. Indeed, they had skipped formalities somewhat.

"My name is Bythkuyu Iroidaeus. Ameshi's house is just there. I do believe I have missed your name."

Bythkuyu glanced toward Ignato before examining their destination for any strange goings on. All she saw was the departure of several guards clad in strange metals and bright red* cloaks.

*Yes Elemental, I know they're probably not bright red, but to the Yorukuninin they appear so.

You know, I also thought of the Benny Hill Theme. Heheheh. Now the question is how perceptive is Garuntha, Syana and the other dude? :smallwink:

Also, I use italics for thoughts, so the purple in italics Garuntha can't hear. Sorry if that is confusing!

「Syana: Ignato Empire」

Sometimes he forgot that many Overworlders had a low tolerance for the cold. Unfortunately he was clad only in a light tunic, trousers and a decorative cloak. After all, the cave city of Aes Shinchuu was much warmer than he was used to.

"No, though... Do you? How long ago did they leave?"

Surely they can't have gone far...

「Party: Gunung」

The one at the base of the dais speaking with the Berapi from Gunung was none other than Shadou Elysius himself.
"Indeed. I'm afraid we were unable to accomodate for fire or lava within the main Hall itself, however there is a large building directly opposite the entrance to this Hall where you may set up these fine displays of yours." Shadou politely indicated toward a few Tekorvanin with wine, "They have been tasked with informing our guests of the other displays alongside a few notices we have written in Common."

A couple of OOC notes, more or less:

WAYLANDER- At some point during the conference, Amber would make an attempt to meet Nyllana. She really wants to see the butterfly mount. It will amount to nothing, other than an open invitation for any Kasumori to come and visit the islands, and lots of oohing and aahing over the creature. She has a thing for animals of all sorts.

RAINDRAGON- feel free to harasss anyone in the party you choose, whenever you choose. There is plenty of timetime right after Jonas pulls Evelyn out of the Raaneki delegation but before their heart to heart.

Olwyt had been trying to understand a strange art piece when the leader of the Jeweled Cities found him. Truth be told he was glad for the distraction.

"Hmm, this sounds acceptable, restricting such...acts may be best, it was only my concern that the city would ultimately fall under Imperial sway. Not that I expect to impose upon your ruling, but I did not wish to allow criminals and such from the mainland to escape to your port. I see that will not be the issue, and with that being so I am willing to agree to the other terms."

OOC: Well, I should be getting sea technology from Guilder this round, so I was fine with doubling up and making sure I got it, but spending an action on it and waiting a round, not so much. If it was just a sub action in this round that you gave me the tech and then we could fluff the sending of students I would be fine with it. If you don't want to do it that way we can cut that part of it and just do the trade and port-city as well as the agreement to be cool with what I do on the sea. (Also, I think you can only trade the tech you have so "Ocean-Faring Tech" not "Deep Sea Unarmed Tech" if you even intended that. I may have misread it.

「Party: Jeweled Cities」

The Yorukuninin who had seized the Raaneki Lord was successfully mingling with his own kin, and yet that was not enough.

If I could get one of the foreigners to assist me...

Within the crowd he spotted a very strange person in breeches, a scarf and a few items of jewelry. Certain that the person was as foreign to Sanctuary as foreign gets, he approached them.

"Good evening." he gestures toward a life-sized statue of a Yorukuninin smiling and holding a large fish a Tekorvanin had given him. The eyes of the statue glowed a dim red. Without the Aura to assist it, the Yorukuninin statue looked quite frightening with his long clawed fingers and large fangs within that disturbing smile.

"How are you enjoying the art thus far? I am Aristocrat Keshten Granazius." the Yorukuninin bowed slightly toward the stranger.

Gotcha! Knock yourself out.

(Garthuna)

"A pleasure to meet you Bythkuyu Iroidaeus," Garthuna said, stumbling somewhat over the foreign name, "I am Garthuna Ignato, second son of the Emperor of Ignato."

Garthuna began to move towards the house Iroidaeus had indicated, "Let's get in and check on things then," he said, reaching the house and pushing on the door, a warm light from inside flooding a small section of the underground city.

(Syana)

"No more than five minutes-" Syana stopped, interrupting herself as she saw a door open down the street and the form of a Yorukun woman looking like the one Garthuna had followed silhouetted against the light.

"There!" Syana said, pointing, "That's the woman!" I think

Haha, great minds :smallwink:

Figured we can lead it to Olwyt just wrapping up meeting with the Union and then you can spring into whatever exposition you want to in regards to what's going on or lead to whatever you wanted to do with this.

((Damn... I really wanted your glass too. Ah well, in the future.))
Fabula nods wisely, accepting his words.
"The frost does indeed make us strong, but in the end, strength alone is not enough to save us. Yphine accepts all those who acknowledge her, and surely she will lead you and your people from the final frost to the eternal paradise. I see much that can come from your consideration of the Doctrine of Frost."
Her words make her sound well beyond her years.

Sorry I took forgot, I've been really busy and forgot about this post!
What is this Doctrine, Lady? However, perhaps tonight is not the night... I have many to see, and little time. However, before my death, I wish to see the wider earth. Should you accept me, perhaps one day I will visit your halls.

OOC: What I'm saying is, next turn, I'm going to send Lord David to Ylphine's temple next turn. So however you want to role play that, I can try to help with the exposition of your religion. EDIT: That was some awkward wording...

「Garthuna: Ignato Empire」

It would seem the Ignato have a etiquette to the Tekorvanin.

"A pleasure to meet you Garthuna Ignato. I did not include my title. I am an Aristocrat."

The light comes from some candles and lanterns that had been brought in for the foreigners' discussion. Bythkuyu stands back from the bright lights and warmth, unwilling to follow.

The only person who seemed to be in the building was a Tekorvanin in a murky yellow robe wearing a bright green armband. As he saw Garthuna, he bowed low, his balding head shimmering in the light.

「Syana: Ignato Empire」

About to suggest they could not have gone far, Syana pointed out what appears to be a pair of Yorukuninin.

"Well, that may be the woman indeed, but then where is your brother?"

I really hope I'm spelling these ones right consistently. I've noticed quite a few typos I fixed, but I might have just as easily have missed a few.

"Excuse me, I'm looking for my father, Olwyt Ignato," Garthuna said a bit urgently to the Tekorvan.

(Olwyt, End of the Peace Talks)

His business with the Union concluded Olwyt strode towards the door, passing through it to find the Tekorvan who had led them here and Garthuna? What was his son doing here?

"Father!" Garthuna said, "I'm glad you're alive! Come with me, you need to speak to my friend Bythkuyu Iroidaeus."

"Alive?" Olwyt asked confused as his son led him out into the street, had his son expected treachery from the Union?

Outside he saw a Yorukun woman, standing outside the warm glow of the light coming from the door, "Hello?" Olwyt said, confusion evident on his face.

"Tell father what you told me, he may be able to help," Garthuna said, looking at his Yorukun friend.

(Syana)

Hopefully not too far away from her," Syana said, marching purposefully towards the Yorukun woman.

「Party: Ignato Empire」

Being the loyal servant he was, Zakarov Kerai guided the pair toward the Emperor Ignato immediately after offering them refreshments from a half-empty tray on the table, all the while apologizing for the mess though the 'mess' was minimal and quite orderly.

Bythkuyu bowed and formally introduced herself to the Emperor Ignato of... she made note to discover later which Empire he ruled.

"Well, if you would I would prefer to keep this... Quiet. Here in Sanctuary, the walls have eyes as well as ears and without proper precautions information spreads to the wrong people entirely too quickly. I can say with certainty however, one of the more powerful Aristocrats of Yorukuni is either plotting or being plotted against."

Bythkuyu notes newcomers out of the corner of her eye.

I wonder what Kishkri is doing with the foreigner who looks quite like the Emperor Olwyt and his second son Garuntha Ignato...

It would seem the lad in the Yorukunin cloak resembles closely the lady beside me.

Deciding to keep quiet for the moment, he supresses the urge to contribute to the conversation and listens in eagerly though technically it was really none of his business and he should have simply returned to the Cantus Sai.

It would be safer to do so, but... far less interesting.

The perhaps-" he stopped as he saw Syana approach with and Yorukun.

"And what are you doing here Syana?"

"Trying to find him!" she said defiantly, pointing at Garthuna, "He ran off after her in the middle of Cantus Sai and I've been trying to find him."

Seeing her father look at her Yorukun companion, "This is," suddenly she realized she didn't ever get a name from the man, "He helped me find Garth." she settled on.

"Well, I must say I'm a bit confused as to what is happening here, and as to why you were concerned for my life. Perhaps we ought to find somewhere quiet to discuss this." Olwyt suggested.

"Good idea father. Iroidaeus, what about where we were?" Garthuna asked the Yorukun woman.

((Hahaha))

Fine, I want. But I think Garthuna's family is gonna call him Garth.

The Yorukuninin allowed the Ignatos to converse uninterrupted while thinking carefully on the best course of action. At Garuntha's suggestion, Bythkuyu shook her head slightly after a short time and smiled gently.

"We can't be sure where we have been seen, when. I think we should go somewhere none would expect. Perhaps... Perhaps where the fire displays are being held." both Yorukuninin shivered slightly at the thought, yet it was a good way to be certain other Yorukuninin would not overhear them. Perhaps there would be a corner they could inconspicuously discuss matters. Furthermore, some Pryonians would be present were they to require assistance.

"Do you have any heavy, hooded clothing your native people would wear which would fit us? Preferrably with masks as well." Kishkri noted their comparative sizes. Both Yorukuninin were pushing six foot, but were quite a bit slimmer than the Emperor. It would be extremely hot, but bearable for a short time.

Bythkuyu glanced around and whispered to the servant.
"Lest the others suspect something, you should perhaps ask Ameshi Kouri to go check his house. Perhaps he can discover something and pretend to confront us at a later date in a convenient place for further discussion and investigation. Breath a word of this to any other and I will make sure the rest of your pitiful life..." with consideration for those present, Bythkuyu let the threat lie and watched the servant go.

Discussion with the Jewelled Cities

"Unfortunately, our treaty cannot be salvaged. You have gone too far in dishonouring it and my Council calls now for retribution. Ending this treaty is preferable to bloodshed and another war."
Idrisa folded the treaty document up and placed it once more in her sleeve.
"Your outpost at Ryazen will have to be dismantled and work will cease on the Academy building and what has been built will be demolished. Effective immediately, our treaty is void."

Such a change to the initial terms is something Ashenia cannot agree on. It makes the treaty too unequal in their eyes.

Peace Talks

"I suppose I can write it up."
Idrisa pulled a sheet of parchment towards her and began writing in an Ashenite influenced form of the common script.

The peoples of the Union of the Northwest (consisting of the Kingdom of Ashenia, the Bordeux Concordant and Sulvan Primarchy) and the Grand Coalition (consisting of the Hurosha Empire, the Ignato Empire, Gunung, The Kingdom of Celero, Guilder, Pryonia, Calorum, Keldagrim and Lyradis) agree to under no circumstances come against one another, in whole or in part, for a period of at least twenty years.
Lord David of Bordeux agrees that neither he nor his descendants and heirs shall make any claim on Eyrecradia. In exchange, High King Feldin Grimhammer agrees that neither he nor his descendants and heirs shall make any claim on the Sulvan Primarchy.
In addition, the Union of the Northwest (consisting of the Kingdom of Ashenia, the Bordeux Concordant and Sulvan Primarchy) agrees to limit their armies to eight percent of their population for a period not exceeding twenty years as a gesture of good faith.

Signed sealed and dated at Aes Shinchuu in the year three hundred and sixty-six.
She handed the finished document to Olwyt.
"Is this acceptable?"

The later discussions were primarily me wanting to get Idrisa's sons married off. PM or not, doesn't matter to me.

He took a sip from his cup and motioned at a painting. "One might be surprised that such large, simple hands could come to such fine and elegant strokes of the brush, would you not say so?" he tried, an attempt to strike up a conversation with a woman whom admired them likewise.

Idrisa gave a friendly smile to the monk.
"Even the largest hands are capable of care, don't you think? It merely takes practice whether it be with the brush or the embroiderer's needle."

*Yes Elemental, I know they're probably not bright red, but to the Yorukuninin they appear so.

On the contrary, they are bright red, scarlet dye to be precise. They're royal guards, so they get to wear a colour that is otherwise forbidden to them. (Except, technically not as half of them are nobles anyway.)
Plus, red is one of the heraldic colours of Ashenia. The alternative was black, and that's kind of boring.

「Party: Jeweled Cities」

Jonas attempted to return the bow as best he could. His old body did not bend well. “Greetings. I am Jonas Grumby, father to Amber Grant, Regina of the Jeweled Cities. You lands honor us with an invitation to this wonderous event.” He gestured grandly to the hall. “The reality of your art far exceeds its description.”

He motioned to the woman accompanying him. As he spoke, the young woman produced 4 small wood and jeweled statues. “Our contribution to the arts pales in comparison. Nonetheless, we have four small samples of our religious art we would offer for display.”

Amber assured him that her people would gladly assist in apprehending criminals, should his legate request it.
“I will have our scholar prepare the paperwork, then.” She bowed graciously. Extending an arm, she smiled, “Now, perhaps you could honor me with your thought on this… interestin art? I much prefer recreation to affairs of state?”
OOC: We don’t need to continue unless you want to. Amber just wants to be seen as not just all business. And maybe a little flirty… or a lot flirty if she thinks she can get away with it.
I do apologize for confounding fluff and actions. In essence, you would get my ocean faring ships technology (or however I have it worded) this round. But you can’t sell or trade it until the start of round 10. All the ‘fluff’ did was provide a rationale for that; your people need time to be trained.
Whether the ships are armed or not is not part of the technology- again it was just a fluff thing to keep with my non-violent approach to this world building.

Amber was saddened, but she nodded. “If that is how you see it, then no words will soften your heart. What you see as dishonor, we see as standing for the principles that prompted the Central Sea Conference in the first place. Clearly the concerns of your friends hold no sway in your deliberations.”
With that, she turned and departed.

I would be interested in trading for obsidian. My first offer would be kelp-olive oil. It is a lighting, cooking, and heating fuel. It burn hot enough that it can be used to turn wood into charcoal in charoal piles- reducing the need for wood.

Since I am unsure how much time I will have during the weekend, I'll go ahead and write down the proposal. The religious part is mostly fluff to open up the option of slowly bringing the Na'nuk closer to some kind of organized religion. If it strikes either of you as too concrete I don't mind adjusting it.
In the evening of the third day of Cantus Sai, Näiyop welcomes the Gunung and Pryonian delegations at the quarters the Tekorvanin had kindly assigned to the Na'nuk. He bows and gestures at a set of furs that have been laid in front of the fireplace, a low table placed in the middle. Three parchments lie on the table. "Ania has prepared documents of the proposal we talked about, I hope everything is in order. I believe it is customary in the south for us to sign them?" He looks over to something that most closely resembles a filled wineskin and a set of goblets on the cupboard. "After that, maybe we can also honor the agreement as is customary in our lands."

1. Gunung, Pryonia and Wenyavuk agree to a mutual non-aggression treaty.
2. In the spirit of ecumenism they encourage a dialog between their respective clergies, to gain further insight into the Lord of Fire's wisdom.
3. The treaty includes trade agreements of:
* Woolly furs from Wenyavuk for steel from Gunung
* Woolly furs from Wenyavuk for coal from Pryonia

Though Shadou felt he were the more important of the two, he made the polite gestures and led the stranger 「were he to follow」 toward the dais at the back of the Hall. A door behind the dais slowly grinds open in the wall. He looked to the stranger, as though inviting him to go first.

Shadou Elysius glares at the newcomer who appears to think so much of himself as to disturb he, the Current Advisor to the High Prince of the Ancient Fiefdom of Sanctuary, the Previous High Prince of the Ancient Fiefdom of Sanctuary and the Elder of the Elysius Family, Aristocrat Shadou Elysius before responding, "You have my ear, but you may have said too much already. Come with me."

Though Shadou felt he were the more important of the two, he made the polite gestures and led the stranger 「were he to follow」 toward the dais at the back of the Hall. He began scraping his claws across the wall while informing the stranger, "Though it may be different in the majority of other nations throughout Telluris, the High Prince does not speak to any but the most high ranking of the Aristocracy of Sanctuary and does not even speak the same language as the commoners do." A door behind the dais slowly grinds open in the wall. He looked to the stranger, as though inviting him to go first.

The hallway beyond the doorway was long, narrow and incredibly dark.

((Derp, tired. Accidentally seized control of your dude. Quickly editing another important thingy for you. X.O))
Not trying to be a jerk I swear. I won't kill your dude or anything.

X.X The Yorukuninin have owl-like night vision.
Peering down the hallway, all that he can see is the deep darkness, not a flicker of a torch or lantern in sight.
Hmm. While you may be able to see down there, I cannot see a thing. Unless you mean for me to trip and break my neck, I need a light of some sort. I would also prefer to deliver my message straight to the High Prince, instead of through others.

Crossing his arms, Shadou Elysius wonders at the fellow's straightforwardness.

"It would be difficult for me to allow such a thing unless his very life is on the line and even then you would be speaking to him through a translator. Furthermore, I know not who you are or from where you hail. I did not even know the limits of your vision until you just now told me. I have decided to humour you for now, but..."

Shadou snapped his fingers at a nearby Tekorvanin. Shortly she came back bearing a cluster of Ketsuek Krystals which glowed a dim red. She presents them to the stranger in a bow.

EDIT - OOC - Sleeping.

「Party: Hurosha Empire」

Nyllana saw that the meeting was already in progress, so she decided that she would talk to Olwyt after the matter had been resolved. She knew him well, and as such knew that he was more then capable of solving this in a more or less diplomatic way. She only hoped his fathers blood wouldnt get the better of him.

She wandered off, looking for guests who seemed interesting to speak with.

[OOC]: If you want to do business with the Hurosha Empire or just want a little roleplay, just step in here.

After some time of discussing business and smalltalk, she noticed human-like creature with what seemed like cat ears and tails. She approached them.

Also, I've got one more unit of glass for trade.

「Fabula: Sycia」

A little irritated at the head priest speaking for someone other than himself Kouri comments, "You know, one would think such an important person as the High Priestess of the Chosen People, Guide to the Sacred Land, Harbinger of the Eternal Winter would be able to speak for herself if she wishes as she quite clearly was doing so earlier before you interrupted. With all due respect, the bow you presumed to return was not aimed at you, neither were my comments." his tone was respectful though the words were not quite.

Turning to very clearly face Fabula, Kouri states, "Would you like some recommendations as for art displays or perhaps some refreshments? There is wine going around, but if you wish something more there is also food and various fruit juices this way." Kouri gestures toward the back of the Hall.

「Scale and Lorelle: Sycia」

A scantily clad Yorukuninin lady with the rare deep purple red Hanseiyoku wing colour approached the couple and whispered in their ears.

"I know how to uncover your mother's murderer, Scale."

High Priestess Fabula
Wonderful, next round I'm holding an interfaith conference in Sycia if you'd like to come to that.
"The Halls of Yphinerra shall always be upon to you."

With Kouri

The head priest began to fume. As he opened his mouth, Fabula put a hand up to silence him, and his mouth snapped shut.
"Peace, Zelos. It is not up to us to judge others in our anger. We are all judged worthy or unworthy by Yphine in the end."
She lowers her hand.
"I would be glad to have your recommendations."

Scale and Lorelle

Both their eyes go wide, and Scale turns quickly to the woman.
"What?!"

EDIT @Waylander: The Priest, Zelos, cut it once again. If he was not allowed to speak for her here, he would at least take the honor of introducing her.
"She is Fabula, Bearer of the Rod, High Priestess of the Chosen People, Guide to the Sacred Land, and the Hand and Voice of Yphine, Goddess of the Frost and Bringer of the Eternal Winter."
Fabula motions to the Head Priest, showing her agreement with him.
"May Yphine save you from the eternal winter my friend."
She responds, showing her respect.

As Inaun wandered through the hall, considering the exhibited pieces of art and contemplating about their origin, he noticed the Huroshan delegation and was reminded of something his chieftain had mentioned to him during their trip to Sanctuary. He made his way over to the Eienguard and bowed as he approached "I believe I have not had the pleasure yet, please allow me to introduce myself. I am Inaun an Vekal, advisor to chieftain Näiyop an Kal of Wenyavuk. You are of the Hurosha Empire, are you not? We have heard tales of a thread - you call it kuttun I blieve - that is common in your lands and more durable than simple wool. The chieftain hopes that it may help to keep our people warm in the frozen lands. If you would tell us more about it and maybe consider a trade proposal, I know he would be very pleased."

If Nyllana agrees, Inaun introduces her to Näiyop, who is curious in the origin of cotton and offers to trade it for amber.

OOC: Sorry to be keeping it a bit short and getting to the point quickly but I probably won't have much time to write until monday.

I haven't met your people before. Before I make such a decision, I would to know more of your people and meet your chieftain. Also, if your chieftain is interested in our cotton, do you know what he want to propose to trade against it?"

OOC: We can just say that Inaun tells Nyllana the fluff in your fluff post, if you wish. Also, when she knows that you are willing to trade amber, she probably wants to know the uses of it, as amber isnt used in Kasumor itself.

"Well met, may Ashmar guide your Prowess onto the right path."
Nyllana had not heard of this Yphine god, but she shuddered inside on the thought of an eternal winter. What an unpleasant thought it was. She adjusted her wings for more comfort. She hoped that her appearence wasn't too distracting.
She put up her most diplomatic smile and continued:
"My scholars did not tell me of a people such as yourself. If you do not mind, may I ask you more about your race and habbits? Are you some kind of fey? We from the Hurosha Empire are very interested in other cultures and races. And a race so different as yours truly fascinates us."
She hoped to know more about this people who worshipped the eternal winter, how monstrous and cruel it may seem in her mind.

Idrisa gave a friendly smile to the monk.
"Even the largest hands are capable of care, don't you think? It merely takes practice whether it be with the brush or the embroiderer's needle."

Jonas approached Paco. He was happy. His daughters were on the way towards mending their relationship. Jonas had drank to that from his local hard liquor.

...

He teetered up and threw his arms around the man, embracing him in a big hug.

"Paco! So glad you made it! I can.. <hic> canna tell you how mush I am lookin forward to trav.. trav.. going with you to the temple." His face flushed and eyes were bright.

Paco gave Idrisa a curt nod, still unfortunately unaware of her status. "Indeed."

He was caught off guard by Jonas' jovialness. "King Jonas, my word! Please!" When the man's grip on him relaxed he took a deep breath. "I see you have enjoyed yourself. And that you clearly remember the Blazing Avatar's letter to you." He coughed softly, then got a puzzled look. "Will... Are you the teacher the Cities will send?"

It was thoroughly odd for a normally collected monk. "I... I guess now it is just to wait on word of Ashenia and Bordeux. In the meantime, can I make an additional request of you? If it is not too much, I wish to borrow a ship from your Cities. It will be an aid to move around and find the new Blazing Avatar, as well as a place to teach him. Plus, a ship seems handy for those who would learn the ways of the sea. If it is possible?"

Jonas collected himself. He had clearly embarassed the monk, though he had not meant to. He took a moment and collected himself. Looking about, he asked one of the larger people who were clearly attendents if he could get some plain water and a glass.

Then he turned himself back to business. "Yes, Paco, I am one of the two experts. I know ships, and seas, navigation by the stars and on cloudless nights. I know the properties of wood and earth, cloth and rope. I made my fortune understanding people and their needs, and how to satisfy them quickly." He realized he was boasting. Since he turned 70, he just couldn't hold his liquor as well. He looked sheepish as he continued. "I bring with me one of the cleverest minds at the academy. She and I worked very closely studying the gift of the Blazing Avatar. She is a fire shaman as well, so she has great interest."

"As for the other, I can get a boat for you with a first rate crew." He eyed Idrissa, as if noticing her for the first time. "I'm certain recent changes in trade will free up a few vessels."

Ah. Jonas. I need not realize you would be here. It appears you have had a bit too much to drink. An unfortunate trait among men, I find. Lord David felt disdain for this man- all Bordeusi abhorred strong drink, and drunkenness was an extreme breach of etiquette among them.

As High Prince Yuuhi reached the top of the dais and turned to gaze upon those gathered the bat upon his shoulder let out an almighty screech. Most of the Tekorvanin and Yorukuninin turned to look. At the base of the dais, the chairs had been cleared away. In their place stood the Thorn Queen Kynvessa, newly made vassal of Sanctuary.

When all had fallen silent, High Prince Yuuhi gazed down upon the gathered before announcing in a deep voice.

"Tathku emeis tsu Ishkoi'es wo emeis tha anainven Sanctum."

As the strange words echoed throughout the Hall a strange smell accompanied it.

BANG!

Smoke quickly filled the dais end of the Hall, a loud crack sounding from the same direction.

Over what commotion may happen, Queen Kynvessa's voice could be heard chanting a strange song in Common.
Continue, Artist
Mad are we or blind are you?
Reverentia

I shall not let them get away with the murder of Lilium, Archon of Shadows. I cannot forgive them for the destruction of my family.

As the smoke cleared a large crack was visible in the wall where the dais was, a strange red glow emenating from within. The Queen Kynvessa took one last look at those who remained before disappearing through the hole in the floor where the dais used to be.

After any commotion had settled, one may note the almost complete absence of Yorukuninin.

Feel free to time bubble anything before this thing, and of course if you like feel free to have it interrupt something you're doing. :smallwink:

「Party: Jewelled Cities」

Excellent. Someone at least high enough in the hierarchy of what was it again... ah, the Jewelled Cities to speak for them.

Keshten Granazius smiles at the gifts and gestures toward a tall, elegant Yorukuninin with the most ornate of clothing aside from the High Prince himself, his Hanseiyoku fanned to show off the dim red glow he proudly bore.

"Over there is the Advisor to the Current High Prince of the Ancient Fiefdom of Sanctuary, Aristocrat Shadou Elysius. Of course, there is no hurry and if you simply wish to display these fine gifts I do believe I can be of some assistance. There are several small displays such as small water features or replicas of certain locations left deliberately minimalist to allow for small trinkets. Or perhaps one of the small tables with interesting geometric patterns? I assure you, they would not take away from your nation's craftsmanship or the brilliance of the jewels."

Keshten wishes the idle chatter were not necessary, but he did not wish to frighten the guest.

「Party: Ignato Empire」

The Yorukuninin followed the Ignatos to their travelling quarters. The cloaks did not fit perfectly and it would seem ((correct me if I'm wrong)) there were no Ignato masks so the Yorukuninin decided to risk wearing their own. Clad in heavy Yorukunin leathers and silks with thick travelling cloaks over the top to hide most everything excepting their heavy black boots, the Yorukuninin donned their deep purple masks. These masks were plain and in the shape of owls. Some sort of thin cloth covered the eyes to protect the Yorukuninin's own from the bright flames.

Bythkuyu turns to the Emperor Olwyt before softly making sure all was in order, "Was there anyone else you wished to bring with you? Someone perhaps with great intellectual prowess?"

WINK! Ahahaha, sorry WaylanderX. I kinda want to pull Eleljak into this because the goblins are cool. Do you feel like RPing a crazy goblin?

「Fabula: Sycia | Nyallana: Hurosha Empire」

Observing with interest the words chosen and hierarchy present, Ameshi thinks perhaps the Head Priest is not truly as important as he believes himself to be. The High Priestess however...

"We have some beautiful fish in an exhibit over there. Fear not, we take excellent care of them as they flow through the water. The shapes they make with the dance of their bodies is quite something to watch."

Glancing around himself, Ameshi spots someone approaching the High Priestess. She seemed to perfectly match the information he knew of the Ruler of the Hurosha Empire, Eienguard Nyallana.

"Ah, but would you mind waiting a moment as a Friend of Sanctuary approaches."

Bowing deeply to Nyallana, Ameshi notes the Head Priest's antics once more but chooses to simply be slightly amused by the interactions between the High Priest and High Priestess.

"Welcome, Eienguard Nyallana. It has been too long." Ameshi's chains rattled as he gestured grandly.

「David Bordeux: Bordeux」

"No. His advisor cannot speak with him." Shadou dryly remarks.

Examining a claw, Shadou makes to move back toward the art displays.

Once they reach the two, he slightly clears his throat and announces "Empress Nyllana Earthguard, please let me introduce Näiyop an Kal, chieftain of the Na'nuk and his sister Ania." After the introduction he adds "We have only recently learned of the world outside of our home, and your southern tongues come easier to some of us than others. The chieftain is a benevolent leader and a great explorer, but a scholar he is not". He earns a stern but slightly amused look from Näyiop for his last remark, which causes him to pause briefly before continuing "I will translate for him, to avoid misunderstandings.".

The three seem very interested in the southern customs and happily share stories from life in Wenyavuk. As the conversation comes to the topic of trade, Näyiop explains that there is plenty of fur and wool in the north, but that it soaks quickly when it comes into contact with water and becomes very heavy. He would like lighter clothing that is still durable for the many fishers and maybe even experiment with sails on fishing boats. In return, they offer shipments of amber. Ania shows the Empress the amber sculpture they put up for display and elaborates that this is one of the larger pieces, while regular sizes are often burnt as incense in religious ceremonies honoring Irfrin, or used as gemstones in pendants.

OOC: That flowed quite well, so I only compressed the fluff a bit.

He gave a dismissive wave of the hand. "Sad to hear she couldn't salvage it. But she over-reacted and had to pay the price, I guess. A learning lesson for a new regent- she wont forget."

"And don't worry about the laborers, either. I balances out with all the porters and teamsters that will be out of work in Ryazen Bay."

He changed the subject again, "Are the both of you going with Paco?"

LATER- ON DAY 3

It was near the end of day 3. Amber had just completed several trade treaties with other nations. It made up for the disaster that was the Union of the North. Jonas told her she did good, not like he needed to tell her that. The two talked long into the night. Jonas was certain the Ignato Empire would turn on them eventually, but there was little that could stop that. Amber was less certain. The roles seemed to be reverse now, with Ashenia and the UN being the ‘agressors’.

There was a cautious knock. It was Evelyn. Amber ran up and nearly tackled her. “Evvy!” The two hugged for a long time.

She patted her sisters belly, “Got knocked up, huh? Mom warned you hanging around with boys would do that.” She laughed.

Sniff. “Barefoot and pregnant, that’s me. Not like you, miss world traveler. You’ve made quite a name for your self in Raaneka. Nude statues everywhere, I hear.”

Jonas took that as a good sign. If they were ready to pull each other’s ponytails again, maybe they are healing.

Amber changed the mood, becoming serious. “Evvy, we both were idiots, but I never meant to hurt you. When I get back, I will find out what really happened.”“

No, its ok. Water under the keel.”

“No, it isn’t ok.” Amber was adamant. “Someone had it out for you. For our family. We have to act quickly and send a clear signal. For all of us.” She found her hands resting on her belly again. “Then you can come home.”

“Or not” Jonas added. The girls looked at him curiously. “You just signed up for a major undertaking, didn’t you?”

Amber’s eyes got wide. “Oh Evvy! We got permission to build an entire port on the east coast! I couldn’t imagine it being in better hands than yours!” Tears flowed, the girls hugged once again.

“I hate to interrupt you two, but there is one other thing.” Jonas said. Again, the girls looked at him. The old man was full of surprises. “I’m taking the Coral Skipper on an adventure.”

“The Coral Skipper? The flagship of the Jeweled Cities? Really?”

“I designed her, I built her. She’s mine.” He sounded petulant

“She belongs to the Islands.”“

No, she’s mine and I’m taking her. She doesn’t like the way you pilot her.”

“I hold a line as good as any.”

“Nope. Hear her creaking and groaning the whole trip. She doesn’t like you.

“She always was a jealous bitch” Evelyn added quietly.

“You stay out of this.”

“Never liked mom either.”

“Evvy, you are not helping!”

“She’s helping me” Jonas offered.

“Uug!” Amber threw he hands in the air. “Fine! But then I want those designs of yours before you go.” Jonas gave her a blank look. “Come on, dad, I can read you better than that. Somewhere you’ve got sketch of a boat that pulls in everything you learned studying the Avatar’s gift. I want it.”

“Done and done.”

At some point after day 1:

The Jeweled Cities port at Ryazen bay will be dismantled. All portable building materials will be returned to the Jeweled Cities at their cost and cartage.
The buildings constructed by Ashenia on Jeweled Cities soil will be dismantled and construction discontinued. All portable building materials will be returned to the Union at their cost and cartage.
The Jeweled Cities will no longer pay 1 unit of gemstones to Crima for territorial rent.
All students at the Academy of Navigation in the Jeweled Cities are expelled permanently.

"I believe Nyllana, erm, the Einguard of Kasumor is in attendance. If that is so she will no doubt be accompanied by Eleljak, the goblins of Zargrim are renowned for their wit. We should look to find them before we depart, they are trusted allies," Olwyt nodded.

((Way, Q, and RD solving mysteries. I want to be Shaggy.))

OOC: Hahahahaha, alrighty then, I'll take the bait. The round is almost done, but we can continue this in the next round I guess, doesn't really make much of a difference. Dips on Scooby Doo btw. On another note, can't you make a venture of this Rain? We all have skype anyway :P.

After Nyllana conducted some trade, she saw a familiar face from the corners of her eye. Eleljak, who just rendevouz with Nyllana, was still in the company of Paryna and they walked towards back of the hall. Once there, she saw that her eyes had not decieved her. Olwyt was talking with a Yorukuninin.
"Olwyt! Long time no see!"
Nyllana dashed through the air towards Olwyt, embracing him at the end of her charge.
"How have you been since your last letter? It has been a year!"

OOC: Ha! take that Quint.

Eleljak joined the reunion and shook his head, smiling.
"Moez Nyllana, that is not a very diplomatic way to handle things. Although Arludh Olwyt doesn't seem to mind it that much."
He made a bow in front of Olwyt and Bythkuyu.
"Greetings and may Prowess guide you. I am Eleljak, the current Ambasadeur of Zargrim. May your hovercraft always be full of eels."

Inaun smiles and agrees "I would be happy to make the introduction. Please, if you would follow me. I believe the chieftain is setting up a piece of art we brought with us for display." As they slowly walk over to Näiyop and Ania, Inaun tells the Eienguard about the Na'nuk and life in the North.

Nyllana tells the Froze-jin (As she calls them in her head) about Kasumor and Zargrim and invites the chief to send some of his scholars or advisors to the Academy of Culture and Prowess in Earthhome, to learn even more of the southern world. She nods at the mention of the problems of fur, having encountered that problem before in Zargrim. She tilts her head at the mention of Amber, but after examining a piece with some creature embedded in it (fossils ftw! If there are no fossils present in the amber though, please tell me, I'll adjust the post), she agrees to the trade with a smile, saying that she will help the people of the north with their clothing problem. Eleljak, who accompanied her, takes out a quill and ink and start to write the trading treaty. While Eleljak is writing the agreement she asks:
"One more thing though, honorable chieftain. If we are to have a trade agreement between our people, I need to be sure of one more thing. I would wish for us to stay out of eachothers spiritual matters, unless it is asked for. Offcourse, your scholars are welcome to learn about Ashmar at the Academy, but we will not try to convert them. I need the same promise from your side aswell. If you agree, we have a deal."

「Fabula: Sycia | Nyallana: Hurosha Empire」

*High Priestess Conversation*

"I did not mean any insult, High Priestess Fabula. Fey is a collective term of creatures who look like humans, but are decendants of more fantastical creatures. That is not the whole definition though, but alas, I'm not an expert on that topic. If you would excuse me for a moment, it seems that someone of the host country wants to have a word with me."

*Ameshi introduction*

"Well met, it has been long indeed since I've seen anyone from Sanctuary. We haven't met, have we?"
Nyllana returned the grand gesture.
"With whom do I have the honor of speaking?"

"Umph!" the sudden dashing charge had caught him off guard but he quickly regained his breath, if not his composure, and hugged her back, careful not to get in the way of her wings "Nyllana! A year too long!" The two separated and he looked at the Kasumorian woman's face smiling,

"I have been well, I hope the same may be said of you. I remember you saying you planned to attend Cantus Sai, I was quite upset at having not yet seen you," Olwyt swallowed and glanced sideways at his children. Garth seemed preoccupied with examining the Yorukun woman but Syana was shooting him a strange look.

"We were just speaking of you actually, well more you goblin lord," he said, turning away from Nyllana towards Eleljak, We seem to have a minor mystery on our hands that my children have uncovered and we wish to have sharper minds than my own to examine it. I would explain more but it is my understanding it is to be kept quiet." Olwyt glanced at the Yorukun woman, intending for her to take charge in leading them to the place where they might discuss things in secrecy.

A venture would probably help wrap things up quickly. Either today or some time next week would be best for me.

"Indeed" Topiltzin replys before looking the pact over and signing. "And from the looks of things we shall also drink to this pact." He ads while accepting one of the goblets with a smile.

Obsidian for kelp-olive oil is most acepteble :) (for fruith is also ok but if possible I would prever the oil

Näiyop nods and seems to be quite intrigued by the offer to send scholars to learn more about southern culture. At Nyllana's last condition he nods. While Inaun does not appear to agree entirely with what he is saying, he translates the chieftains words truthfully "Our sacred tales tell us that Irfrin created the three Tears of the Sun in the frozen wastes to give land to the Na'nuk, and we thank him for it. They tell us nothing of other lands however, so we should not assume that Irfrin had a hand in their creation. We see no reason to give religious advice where we cannot in good faith claim to have spiritual authority. You have my word. The people of Kasumor and Zargrim are welcome to visit Wenyavuk as well. Of course, we have no academies yet and the way north is difficult. But it is our hope that this will soon change, and when it does, the offer remains valid."

OOC: The large sculpture is free of inclusions, some of the pieces of jewellery the members of the delegation are wearing however do contain them. Curiously, these are mostly not insects as one would expect, but small crabs and conches.

OOC ONLY POST

Uhh, yuh well sure. I posted about that in the OOC thread as well. Apparently you guys take the two key characters of Scooby Doo while I'm at work.

I'm posting here to mention I'll be away today, but I'll put up some responses soon. If anyone is bored in like... Six or eight hours let me know or send me a PM and I'll make sure I send a character your way.

I have simple character profiles in a file for seven characters, not all of whom are currently interacting with people.

Ciao.

Also. Still up for trades, just... PM me those and I'll edit them in. Las' chance!

(I may be over-quoting, hence the spoiler. :smalltongue:)

Seeing Idrisa speaking to a monk who matched the description of whom he was looking for, Lord David approaches them and what appears to be a drunken man.
Are you the monk I who was looking for teachers?, a thin lipped smile on his face.

"No, he is." Jonas replied a bit too loudly. "I'm one of the experts!" He gave Lord David a jackass grin.

Ah. Jonas. I need not realize you would be here. It appears you have had a bit too much to drink. An unfortunate trait among men, I find. Lord David felt disdain for this man- all Bordeusi abhorred strong drink, and drunkenness was an extreme breach of etiquette among them.

He nodded his agreement. "Old age doesn't help either. It is true what they say, the only thing worse than a drunken fool is an old drunken fool. Pardon me."

His drunken demeanor seemed to fade away then. While the smile remained, his eyes grew cold, like that of a ocean predator. "With you and the little princess here, I can assume you have finished raking my daughter over the coals?"

At the mention of Ashenia, the Princess Regent chose to interject.
"You await word from Ashenia? Pray tell, what word would you wish to hear from us?"
When King Jonas spoke of the discussion they had had with his daughter, Idrisa felt compelled to speak.
"I do apologise King Jonas, but the treaty is no longer tenable. Rest assured, the labourers hired for the construction work on the Academy will be duly compensated for the loss of employment."

"Thank you all." Monk Paco said, appearing mostly calm, but clearly moved at this support. He gave a small bow to each of them in turn. "My lady," he addressed Idrisa, "my apologies, I did not know you were from Ashenia before. If all went well, your nation should have received a letter written on behalf of the late Blazing Avatar by monk Adam, who is now First Brother of the Blazing Temple. While he attempts deception and denies having penned it, I am, as the letter states, on a mission to ensure the proper education of the next Blazing Avatar. I am attending events such as these to gather support for that cause, so that the legacy of Yosi Cedro may live on and the next Blazing Avatar will not be a tyrant to those who do not worship the Lord of Fire, as several have been in the past. I hope that teachers from the University of Severikand with its marvelous observatory will join in support of this cause."

(Sending teachers requires an action, which can still be done in Round 9. Monk Paco will attend other events that take place in this round, so if you attend it--like the faith gathering in Sycia or the succession competition in Sulvan's Fury--you can fold this action into that. At least, should you send people at all, of course. :smallwink:)

"I did indeed receive your letter Reverent Paco, it sits now upon my desk in Adrakand. I received it not long before I departed to attend Cantus Sai.
"I must however, apologise. Ashenia is not in any way responsible for the education of the Blazing Avatar. If he or she wishes to seek education at the University of Severikand, then that is their responsibility. If you seek educators for the Avatar, then you must speak with them and pay them for their services. I will not compel them to leave their homeland on promises of compensation."

Ashenia's position on the matter: Not our concern. The Blazing Avatar is a private individual from the other side of the world.
