HALF-KHAYAL
Consumate liars and frequent outcasts, half-khayal are the children of khayal and members of races they deem inferior. Held in contempt, khayal are divided only on whether these hybrids are abominations being beneath the mundane races, or they are superior to all save for their own full blooded kin. Due to the rare interactions between khayal and other races, and that most of these interactions revolve around trickery, most half-khayal are born of unions either instigated by deception on the part of the khayal, or result from a service earned for providing irrefutable proof of the khayal's lie.
Half-khayal often appear close enough to their mundane parent's race that they could pass as one of them, but its clear something else resides in their bloodline. Usually possessing grey or dusky skin, black hair, and black eyes, more often than not even those knowledgable of the plane of shadow mistake these crossbreeds for dark or shadow versions of their mundane parent's kin.

CREATING A HALF-KHAYAL
"Half-khayal" is an inherited template that can be added to any humanoid creature (here-after referred to as the base creature).
A half-khayal uses all the base creature's statistics and special abilities except as noted here.
-Armor Class: The base creature's natural armor improves by 1.
-Special Attacks: A half-khayal retains all the special attacks of the base creature and also gains the following special attacks.
-Spell-like abilities: black candle, bolster, dusk and dawn, sight eclipsed. Caster level equals the half-khayal's HD.
-Special Qualities: A half-khayal retains all the special qualities of the base creature and also gains the following special qualities.
-Shadow Jaunt (Sp): Once per day, a half-khayal can travel
to the Plane of Shadow or the Material Plane as though using pass into shadow cast by a 13th-level caster. The half-khayal and any willing creatures brought along appear at a random location on the destination plane. The half-khayal and the creatures brought on the shadow jaunt remain on the other plane (or any location on any plane they travel to from there) for a number of minutes equal to the half-khayal's number of Hit Dice. When this duration expires, the half-khayal and all creatures on the shadow jaunt return to their original positions on their origin plane. An effect that suppresses or dispels shadow jaunt sends the half-khayal and creatures brought along back to the exact places from which they left. If the space from which the half-khayal originated (or a creature that accompanied her on the planar jaunt) is occupied upon its return, the half-khayal (or its companions) appears in the nearest unoccupied space.
-Resistance to Cold (Ex): Half-khayal have resistance to cold 5.
-Abilities: Change from the base creature as follows: Str +2, Dex +2, Con +2, Cha +2.
-Feats: Half-khayal gain weapon finesse as a bonus feat.
-Challenge Rating: Same as the base creature +1
-Level Adjustment: Same as base creature +3
