Welcome back to the fifth iteration of


ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS

After banjo's great resurrection of the game we decided that's now my turn to host it again. For this I will blatantly steal most parts of banjo's last introduction post so if you find any mistakes... they are his, not mine :smallcool:

The game is based around this snazzy little table:

Basic rules:
Each round you will be pitted against another player in a four action game of the expanded rock-paper-scissors game pictured above. You PM me with your four choices, and your opponent will do the same. As narrator, I will work out the results and determine the victor.

Each round will last minimum 48 hours. You can PM me actions rounds in advance if you want, so that you don’t miss anything. Otherwise, you will automatically lose the missed round 4-0, and any bets placed on you will be cancelled. the match itself will be decided by dice and the bets are valid. This rule is inserted to avoid any disadvantages for the remaining players who actively fought a player who becomes inactive after a while.

If you win a game you score three points, one point for a draw, and nothing for a loss. Everyone will play each other once, a league table will be kept, and at the end there will obviously be a winner! I try to draw a trophy for the winner but beware, I can't compete with banjo in this department.

Betting:
Yes, I mentioned betting earlier, I guess it’s about time I explained it. Each player (and any lurkers not actively participating but wanting to bet) have 10gp to spend each round by betting on the outcomes of matches. Gp cannot be saved, so use the full 10 each round or the rest will be wasted.

Players can bet on the following things, with the gp reward for a successful bet shown:

Bet on a player to win – 2:1
Bet on a match to end in a draw – 3:1
Bet on a player to win by a specific scoreline – 5:1

Accumulator - Make two or more bets as an accumulator to multiply your winnings, but every bet needs to succeed else you lose out.

Well, I managed with total randomness (I used Invisible Castle for my actions) 8 draws, 2 wins and one defeat so... it's close to random :smallwink:

Anyway, we are 13 people now, if there is an uneven number at the begin of the game Dicey McRandom will play against you lot.

Hello and welcome to the first round of Rock-Paper-Scissors in the new season 5. We have 7 matches today and all of them were very interesting to watch. We have only 1 tie, all the other matches ended with one winner. And there are some guys who won a fortune in betting.

So let's begin:

Tanar begins classy with Scissors which are deflecting chessgeeks Moon, then his Moom eclipses the Sun and the Man shoots the Alien in the head. Tanar wins with 3 points no matter that his Dragon in the end suffocates under a bowl. The 3:1 win also means a betting win of 50 gilded puffs.

banjo summones an Alien wich vaprizes Aventines Rock, his Moneky consumes fresh Air and the match is won by our former narrator with a Bowl that snuffs out Aventines Fire. But a little Cockroach which drives banjos Wolf nuts ensures Aventine a point and 50 grape pies from betting against himself.

Zjoot tries the violent approach but both, his Dynamite and his Nuke are being defused by Ducks Alien. Duck stays with his Alien tactic and beats Zjoot's Devil by non-believing. The end action is a draw which leads to Duck's nearly flawless win.

Well, this is a short match since both players decided to use only one action each. And Sabeki, by summoning a swarm of Cockroaches had the better end in Cuthalions Nuke-lear fight. The first flawless vitcory today.

Reinholdt vs Dallas-Dakota

The winner of the last Season in his first match after getting his title. And Reinholdt proved to be a tough fighter. With a Lightning he melts DD's Axe but DD strikes back... or Nukes back and incinerates Reinholdts Rock. Reinholdt takes a Sponge and snuffs out DD's Gun and in the end it's like in the beginning, DD takes a Lightning and melts Reinholdts Gun. A well deserved tie.

Nonayer vs Dicey McRandom

Well, this game mostly exist for the bets since I decided to not mention Dicey in the table nor to count the result of this match against Nonayer. For him and all other players Dicey will be a walkover, no matter the result. Still, the match. Nonayer starts agressive, killing Diceys Woman with a Rock, but then his Sun is eclipsed by the Moon and the Dragon meets a dragonslayer-Man. In the last action Diceys Wolf howls at the Moon and wins the match and 25 gigantic dolphins for Fleeing Coward.

And the last match today. Like Sabeki vs Cuthalion this is a short one. Fleeing Coward decides to shoot 4 times the Air. And, to write a bit more here, with this decission he makes the Gun the most useless weapon this round (6 times used, 6 times missed).

As said before Tanar Aerdoth and Aventine are the big winners today, followed by Fleeing Coward and Sabeki. I did not mention Nonayer who won 4 glass perls by betting on banjo winning (which he did).

Statistics:

Well, what do we have? We have 7 actions with a 100% success rate, Sponge, Scissors and Monkey were only used 1 time, Lightning, Man and Bowl won 2 of their 2 uses (Lightning was only used in the match Reinholdt vs Dallas Dakota, by both contestants and won on both occasions), and the most succesful item today was the Cockroach, it won all 5 actions it was involved.

Most used today was the Alien, it worked 7 times and won on 4 occasions. 6 times used where each Gun and Nuke, Gun was most useless, it lost all 6 times, Nuke won at least once.

Absolutely no love got the good old Paper, the Snake, Tree and Water weren't used once, either.

So, this was Day 1, Day 2 will end in 48 hours minimum or when I have all actions (If I have all actions it will be a bit less then 48 hours, this is a notice just for the betters)

Hello and welcome to the end of the second round of Rock-Paper-Scissors. Today we have fascinating results, especially the bettings... we have only 1 person who managed to win. And we have two draw with a result of 1:1, I think that's impressive, too.

But now to the matches:

chessgeek is Rocking through the match and Aventine has not much to say against it. The wolf is soon smashed, Aventine's Moon is gaining a little victory but than the Tree and the Sun are once again overshadowed by a big Rock. chessgeek wins 3:1

Dallas-Dakota vs Sabeki

It's always said that it's hard to repeat a former victory. Last champion Dallas-Dakota is seeming to learn that the hard way. He tries everything, with Fire, with force (Axe) with brutality (Rock) and with sneakiness (Cockroach) but all his attempts are thwarted by Sabekis classic answer Rock-Rock-Paper-Scissors. He sweeps DD away and wins the second time 4:0

Cuthalion vs Tanar Aerdoth

A remarkable match, two minds alike. Both begin with Paper, cancelling out each other. Tanars Snake then nests in Cuths Tree and then Cuth's Snake nests in Tanars Tree. The last action has to decide... and both choose Water. I think that's the first where both contestants used the same four actions against each other. A well deserved draw.

FC is on Fire! Duck takes a Rock and snuffs it out but his attempt to cool it with a Paper is futile. So is his try to stab it with a pair of Scissors. But in the end he shoots the fire with a Gun and saves at least one point.

Disc Lorde vs Nonayer

In the last match Disc Lorde used only one action to win 4:0. This time he changed to two actions, alternating Man and Woman, and drives Nonayer crazy. Everything he hurls against the Man-Woman combo, Dragon, Moon, Tree and in the end even the Man, stand no chance. Disc Lorde. like Sabeki, wins the second time 4:0.

Well, Dicey won his first match but we all know that was only luck and you have to make a draw if you use random actions, right? Wrong. Dicey rolled a Cockroach wich was instantly stabbed by a pair of Scissors. The Lightning cracked useless through the Air. Well, the second Cockroach outranks the Moon but Reinholdts Snake breathes all of Diceys Air and so Reinholdt wins this match.

Another close match but not as equal minds as Cuthalion and Tanar. Banjo begins with a Tree which blocks Zjoots Moon. Then both are reminding me of my school time... SPONGEFIGHT! 3rd action, Zjoots Man takes banjos Paper and scrunch it up. And in the end we have two Monkeys who are flinging poo at each other. Draw!

Welcome Ladies and Gentleman to the third day of RPS Season 5. It's the first update on the new forums and let me tell you, today ROCKED! Yes, it rocked. You chose to use ROCK 15 times. FIFTEEEN! I think that's an overall record for used actions on one day. Let's see if it did you any good.

Cuthalion vs Aventine

Cuthalion was the first who thought: "When in doubt, throw a ROCK". He squished Aventines Cockroach and smashed the Wolf afterwards but a Rock in the Air and a Rock on the Moon isn't of much use. The first of many draws today.

Nonayer vs Duck999

And Nonayer was the second who Rocked away. Duck countered with a classic: Rock, Paper Scissors and something else. Rock cancelled each other out, you know the other two, so... what did Duck do with his last action? Not very classy but effective, the ALIEN! Vaporizes the Rock and wins the game for Duck.

Sabeki vs Dicey McRandom

This match is a novum in this season. Sabeki didn't turn in his actions so I had to roll the dice for it. And Dicey... well. Anyway, Sabekis Snake nested in Diceys Paper. Dicey countered with a Dragon that used Fire and his Lightning fused Sabekis Dynamite. With the last action Sabeki's Lightning struck down Diceys Man. The only one who is happy is Disc Lorde who won 30 grease pots with this draw.

The next question is: Can the former champion win his first game in this season? Loses Tanar Aerdoth his first game in this season? DD begins ambitioned, his Sponge somehow wins against a Dragon. But TA doesn't resign, his Man makes a Paper aeroplane and then he sets Fire to the second Sponge DD creates. Is DD losing again? No, his Paper withstands TA's Dynamite, it's a draw.

A duell in the midfield of the table, 6th against 4th. Chessgeek uses a Gun and Fires. But his Dynamite blows up unused in the Air and the Nuke doesn't do even that since banjo dropped Water on it. This time Fleeing Coward depends fully in Rock and Zjoot, as did Duck999 before him, countered with Rock, Paper, Scissors and something. We all now the outcome of the first three so the last action from Zjoot decides the match. And he chose... poorly. The Cockroach is squished, Fleeing Coward wins 2:1

Disc Lorde is leading in the table, since Sabeki is playing against Dicey he can't threaten him (even if he had won against the dice). So will DL become the sole leader? He takes the homicidal way. 4 times Gun. And Reinholdt? 2 times Sun isn't working. He then shows a pair of Scissors which is shot to pieces. And at last the Wolf is shot dead. Disc Lorde won his third match in a row with 4:0. Impressive!

Disc Lorde vs Sabeki

Disc Lorde and Sabeki both have no draw and no loss so far, Sabeki played against Dicey and therefore has one game less then DL. A very exciting match and we are curious what the two will show us. DL is obviously on Fire, he burns to win this match but is rebuked by Sabekis Sun and Nuke. Sadly Sabeki can't keep his pace and his two animals, Snake and Cockroach, are smoking. With Disc Lordes draw Duck has the chance to catch up. He has to win this match, though. The first action is good, Ducks Scissors are cutting up Reinholdts Sponge. But he shouldnt have copied Reinholdt's action, the Sponge seems to be a bad omen today. The Monkey rips it up. A Rock against the Devil isn't the best decission, either. But in the end Ducks Paper outlaws Reinholdts Gun and saves a Draw for Duck.

Another day has ended and it was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, the contestants were swetting and the betting boxes were damp because of the the tears of the better. I don't say if it were tears of joy or despair. Yet.

But let us begin with the matches, we had many surprises today, no 0:0 I'm afraid but some other happenings. And everyone in the table took another place, also very interesting.

Dicey McRandom vs Aventine

First match is Dicey against Aventine. Dicey starts with Dynamite and blows Aventines Scissors away but then his Water is drunk by a Wolf. Moon isn't good against a Cockroach, either but then his Man throws a stick and the Wolf runs and catches. A draw, something we thought to see more often from our random friend.

The duell 10th against 8th. Cuthalion starts good, his Lightning strikes shessgeeks Man. And then he let follow some Water which reflects the Sun. Then he made a small mistake, a Man has no chance against a Woman but he quickly learns and copies chessgeeks Woman to disprove the Alien. Cuthalion wins 3:1, they both are changing places in the table.

Dallas-Dakota vs banjo1985

Former winner Dallas Dakota doesn't get into this season easily, only one win so far. But former host banjo is on a good way up. Will he stay in the near of the top 3 or will DD recover and gain a few points to retake his title? DD starts with the Paper, smart move, intelligent and proper but banjo counters with a Monkey who just rips apart the Paper. DD is annoyed but still, Paper is a good move for him. banjo looks at it, takes and Axe and slices the Paper. It's a bit of an overkill if you ask me but well. DD has to do something now and really, he changes his tactics and takes a Sponge and wipes away banjos Water. Last action decides, banjo win or draw? DD makes... another Paper! What a surprise. banjo's man takes the Paper and assembles a Paperairplane and shoots it away. Banjo wins!

Well, Sabeki couldn't send in an action so I rolled them for him. Sabeki will get 0 points out of this game and gains only the scores against him while Duck will take full score and points out of this match (if he makes any of course). Sabeki begins with a Tree and drinks Ducks Water. Duck counters and sets Sabekis Man on Fire. Sabekis Woman then makes something horrible. She breathes Ducks Air. And the last action is the inverse of the first, this time Ducks Tree drinks Sabekis Water. A draw.

Reinholdt vs Fleeing Coward

This is the most exiting match of the day. How will it end? From the bets of the two contrahents we could deduce that it will not end 2:2 or 1:1, it also can't end 3:1 or 2:1, not even a 3:0 or a 2:0 will be possible. As you can see, in the beginning I wrote that it will also not be a 0:0 so it will be clear that one of the two contrahents will win this match. And from that you can deduce that one of the two, Fleeing Coward or Reinholdt WILL win 50 golden pennies, a massive amount of money for both of them. Reinholdt would own 59 gp if he wins but Fleeing Coward would have 75 gp. Well, you see, it's not only the sporting aspects in this game which are at stakes, no, here are rock-hard economic intersts in play. So, how will they decide. The two contrahents are standing in front of each other, sweating. No one wants to make the first move. They know, the first move could be deciding. They are sweating. Did I say that already? Damn, well, let's see, REINHOLDT makes a move!!!! Yes, he moves. But only to get a drink. But there is no drink in sight! Reinholdt despaires! He needs a drink but there is none! What shall he do? He needs something to drink desparately! And then... Fleeing Coward! He sees Reinholdt is in trouble and... he gives him something. What is it? IT'S WATER! SENSATIONAL! Fleeing Coward gives Reinholdt Water and wins the game. Reinholdt's thirst is put out but so is his Fire. This was a thrilling experience, the match of the day came to an end with an amazing Fleeing Coward win. Thank you and back to the studio.

And now a little bit more peaceful match. Zjoot sent in his actions a bit late but still in time. But his first, the Rock is quickly eroded by Nonayers Water. Zjoot takes up the hint and makes Water himself which shortcuts Nonayers Lightning. Then his Dragon pet's the Snake (because it's his spawn) and the Bowl focuses the Sun. Another day has ended, another day full of actions and counteractions. Thank you all, I got all actions in time and there are some really interesting matches today.

Let's begin:

banjo1985 vs Dicey McRandom

First match is just for statistics and bets. Banjo can't defend his lead in the table because it's his day off, accordingly he isn't really motivated for this. And so Dicey is taking a fast lead, a Snake in the Tree and a Sun that burns a Wolf and it's 2:0 for our computer friend. But then banjo suddenly awakes and tries ti turn the game. He sends a Monkey to drink all of Diceys Water. 2:1, the last action decides... if Disc Lorde wins his bet. And really, banjo can turn the game, the Man exorcises Diceys Devil. It's a draw!

Another chance for Nonayer to win a match this season. And he does everything to ensure his success. For this he chose the one and only action that never lost a match in this season: Bowl. And... Only Scissors are not an adequate answer against a Bowl but Reinholdt's last action, the Sponge, ensures him the win and Nonayer another zero-pointer. Better luck next time!

It should be a very exiting duel. Both actions the contestants used were used ten times so far, Sabekis action won 6 times, Fleeing Cowards only 5 times. So, statistically Sabeki should have won this match. Why his Snake nevertheless continously was stabbed by FC's Scissors nobody knows.

Duck999 vs Tanar Aerdoth

A deciding match! Since banjo can't score today Duck could overtake him in the table if he wins against Tanar Aerdoth. And Tanar could at least tie the lead with a win. Both contestants are highly concentrated at work. Duck overpowers a bit in the beginning, his Dynamite blows away a little Man. Tanar reacts with a Cockroach that drinks Water. Duck creates a Moon where there is no Water, Tanar can only draw the match with the last action. He copies Duck with a Moon but Duck, anticipating this, creates a Man and travels to the Moon. Duck wins 3:1 and takes the lead... at least until Disc Lorde matches Aventine.

Aventine vs Disc Lorde

And it's this match we are waiting for. Disc Lorde can take back his lead in the table by beating Nr. 12 Aventine. This should be an easy match for the favourite. He begins very confidentely with an Axe and chops down Aventines Tree easily. But Aventine counters with a Lightning and melts Disc Lordes second Axe. The third and the fourth Axe are both melting in the Fire Aventine set and Disc Lordes chance to return to the top is gone.

Cuthalion vs Zjoot

The duel 8th against 9th. Zjoot tried inverse psychology and used the least effective action overall. Cuthalion on the other hand copied Nonayers futile try and used the most effective action overall. Incidentally this time this was the winning move since the Bowl reflects the Sun very effectively. 4:0 for Cuthalion.

chessgeek vs Dallas-Dakota

chessgeek uses the new Werwolf tactics while Dallas Dakota relies on RPSanything. In the end they neutralize each other, the Sun is shaded by the Rock, the Man writes on Paper, the Scissors are stabbing the Moon (or something like that, I don't know why the scissors are winning against the moon, either) and in the end a Wolf-rocket launches a Nuke. At least they both win their bets, chessgeek a bit more than DD so DD loses this match (A draw/win/lose situation). :smalltongue:

Sabeki told me his evolutionary tactics: First Monkey became Man, Man flew to Moon and started a Nuke. From my point of view Man first started a Nuke and then flew to the Moon but if Sabeki had taken this order then he would have lost the game. Nonayer started an other evolutionary theory: First the Lightning struck the Monkey. Then Man drank Water and the Wolf howled at the Moon. In the end the Woman was incinerated by the Nuke, the game ended in a tie and Nonayer is still waiting on his first victory.

As promised now the (a little belated) end of the day! Very interesting pairings today, for example the leader and the runner up are fighting. But to the games:

Fleeing Coward told me that he had the feeling that today is Monkeys great day. Well, it would have been if Aventine had used night (=Moon) more than day (=Sun). So Aventine wins his third consecutive match.

Nonayer vs Tanar Aerdoth

The main question here is: Will Nonayer win his first match this season? It starts promising, his Dragon is fully motivated and melts Tanars Scissors. But then all the flames are gone and Nonayer doesn't change his tactics. Second Dragon is hiding in the woods, third Dragon gets a wacking from his wife and fourth Dragon has to puke because it sees a Cockroach in the kitchen. Nonayer loses again while Tanar wins the match, his bet and the 2nd place in the betting table.

Reinholdt vs Sabeki

After two consecutive wins Reinholdt is bursting with self esteem. He holds up some Scissors... whic are melting in the Sun. Irritated he makes a Moon but it looks astonishingly like a Sponge. Well, let's try my oponents tactics then he thinks and takes the Sun... which is cooled by some Air. Frustrated about the lost game he sends his Wolf but it is infested by Cockroaches and can't do anything. Sabeki wins in a landslide.

chessgeek vs Disc Lorde

Disc Lorde had a strong opening this season but now has lost three games in a row. Yesterday he lost with an Alien, today he stays in space and tries it with the Moon. And this seems to be the better tactics, the Dragon is too far away to do anything against it, the Devil is terrified and the Alien doesn't want to destroy his home. Only the Sponge wins against the Moon, how stays secret.

And this is the duell first against second. banjo never lost a game this season but, well, there's always a first time. The Sun is Nuked away, the Dragon sleeps in the tree and the Monkey is Nuked away, too. Only the Devil wins against Lightning (by 3 points in the overtime). Banjos first loss lifts Duck to the top of the table.

After Dallas incredible chopping show yesterday he tries to use the same today. That's not soo good. Well, it's not that bad in the beginning when the Axe shines in the Moon but then two Suns are burning the metal away. The last Axe at least chops down an innocent Sponge. It's a tie that helps no one.

Duck is the new leader, Fleeing Coward lost 3 places and Aventine has risen 2 places. we have 5 rounds left, 15 points to give away so theoretically even Nonayer could win the season. Although I wouldn't bet on that.

Most used was the Sun and it won 6 out of 8 fights so it was most effective. Least effective was the Dragon which won only 2 out of 7 fights.

Another day has ended. The first day where (attention, spoiler for the betters) we had not a single draw and more games that ended with one opponent had zero points than games where one had at least one point.

Fleeing Coward changed his tactics and succeeded dramatically. His Dragons beat the Sun and melted the Axe while his Monkeys took a Bowl and drank Water out of it. That doesn't make much sense but he won anyway.

Slowly I come to the conclusion that this is NOT the season of Nonayer. I'm sorry to say that it's the 10th match in a row he hasn't won. But his opponent is the current leader and as such he was too strong. At first two Devil fought a tie but then we saw a Wolf biting a Bowl, then the Sun burning a Sponge and in the end the Alien shot a Man. Banjo still leads the table.

This is a remarkable match. Nonayer tries a "2 Animals, 1 of them exist" strategy while chessgeek uses his "Werewolf" technique against it. And... Nonayer wins! End of Day 13 - End of the Game

Hello and welcome to the last update of Rock-Paper-Scissors in this season. Not much surprises today since the winner of the game is fix since last round. Also I have decided to take Sabeki out of the notation, he only participated the first 3 or 4 rounds, then he became a dice-bot like Dicey. So, the question is if Duck or Disc Lorde will become 3rd since Fleeing Coward is pretty cemented 2nd. And the bettings of course... we'll see.

A couple rounds I based my moves off of dicey mcrandoms moves in the previous round.

I tended to pick stuff that was the least used, either previous round, or overall, and messed around with the order a bit. If I was playing someone who tended to go for four repeat actions, I'd do the same and take a chance. I guess this makes up for my 16th and 18th place finishes I've had the first two times I played. :smalltongue:
