View Full Version : TPAY/TPBY Riddlefight--defeat the "one who sees"!

My full online persona is "Lheticus, the one who sees". And while the one who sees may see all, he certainly doesn't know all. He does know quite a bit though, so if anyone can solve this riddle, then offer one in return that I can't solve, I'll...um, I don't really know, this is just for fun. ^^; So here goes:

The only place you find me is where there's nothing at all. If you look into the night sky, you'll see lots of me--but you won't notice. What am I?

Space?

If so:

What is put on a table, cut, but never eaten?

You almost got me--I nearly said paper, but that's put on more than just tables. The correct answer is a flower. ;)

Moving on--here's a nice hard one (first person to answer correct gets the return riddle):

Found on land as well as in the sea. Alone, it is but one of many. Combined with its brothers, it creates half of a gate to infinity--and more of them create the other half as well.

...that wouldn't happen to be a tooth, would it?

They're the trademark of the fish and whales of the sea and the lizards and mammals of the land, but the creatures of the air - birds and insects - tend to lack them. Though you could make an argument for bats and such, I guess, the land and the sea make for a much easier search.

Line a bunch of teeth up to get an upper jaw or a lower jaw. Close the two together, and nothing is getting in or out of your mouth. Infinity I guess could mean either death or escape, depending on which side you're on.

Mmmm...sorry, but you're more than a bit off here. I can PM you with the correct answer if you promise not to spoiler it.

I'm uncertain, but I will guess. Is the answer the Horizon?

Definitely not. In fact, I'm not sure how you got that answer from the hints in the riddle. Like Dr.Gunsforhands, I'll PM you the correct answer--please don't spoiler it here.

I offer the letter 'A' as the Answer.

I offer the letter 'A' as the Answer.

The offering took, and cast aside--such a response I do deride.

I guess that one was far too hard
So to save your prides from being charred
I offer this now, tell all the land
The answer is a grain of sand.

So now for something much more easy
(And hopefully, not very cheesy.)

It is a word, though it can be a letter.
When said as a question, there's no question better.
It often issues from childrens' lips--
And the ignorant it always trips.

Y?

I can just hear small children chanting it when they're told something they don't want to believe. :smalltongue:

I often wear a cap and ring
Though I have gills I do not swim
I eat on the ground, but can bring you high.
What am I?

What am I?

I admit this one was tough
My mind alone was not enough
But looking up that one word "gills"
Gave me quite unending thrills.

And now the verse that spells your doom:
To your credit, you're the first
That told me one so greatly versed
That I need to KNOW that I do know--

(If the rhyming thing gets annoying, please someone say--I just added it for a little fun. ^^;)

Exactly right! I had fun thinking of how to fit a rhyme scheme into it; it's a challenge, I'm impressed you're pulling it off so well.

Though I did a more little research after making the riddle... and it seems that there is one type of mushroom, recently discovered, that does live in the water!

You guys don't need to rhyme
Just because I am all the time. ;)

In any case, we shall continue
I wonder if you'll have a clue?

Some have lots, but for most, it's scant
It fulfills almost any want.
When it is loved, vast evil flows
But those lovers may not even know.
It's soon separate from a fool
And in the end, it's but a tool.

Easy. Money.

Some worship me

Some seek to become me

Some seek to destroy me even though this cannot be done.

What is my name?

You said that one was easy--
You're certainly correct.
As to your own, it is not so, this
But when it comes to worship,
There's but one thing I can guess:
The name is God, though of this
I am not quite certain
So it may be you'll be the one
To close this fun game's curtain.

God is one name and if I were to be lax

Then I would accept that answer (without tax).

But what I am looking for is the *name of God*

The *actual name* of this deity bod.

But to Christians, sir, that IS his real name:
If you wanted another, I cannot be blamed.
There are a few others He's been known to go by,
Jehova, Yahweh I think, as well as Adonai.
If any those works, the game shall go on:
But I doubt many here will get THIS one wrong:

Its strength, derived from its connections,
Subject only to itself in inspection,
It has what you need, no matter the direction
(and disturbingly, causes many erections.)
