Just as a curiosity, I'm attempting to build a caster for a mental exercise, and want to see what kind of additional shenanigans the playground can help me put on it.

The idea is an NE bard 5/Ur-priest 5/Mystic Theurge 5/Geomancer 5.

With Mystic Theurge increasing Ur-Priest and Bard, and Geomancer just increasing Bard. Granting 9th level divine spells and 15th level bardic arcane spells.

Is there a better class to use than Bard, perhaps, which gets the prerequisite skills for Ur-Priest? Maybe a full caster?

You can go bard => Ur-Priest => Sublime chord => Theurge, getting 9th level arcane and divine spells.
Otherwise you could get some of the required skill as class skills with feats.

Why are there 5 levels in Ur-Priest when only 2 are necessary for Mystic Theurge? You can get more levels in MT instead and have even better bard casting.

Bard 5/Ur-Priest 2/Theurge 8/Geomancer 5?

18th level Bard/10th level Ur-Priest. Not a bad idea.

Able Learner + Human Paragon 1/Wizard 4/Ur-Priest 2/Theurge 8/Geomancer 5, with Geomancer keying off of Wizard?

17th level Wizard, 10th level Ur-Priest, perhaps. 9th level Wizard casting, 9th level Divine casting and all the shenanigans of Spell Versatility.
