So one of my players is playing a Dragon Shaman. Last Session they encountered an Umber Hulk and she used her Energy Shield Aura, which meant desaster to the Hulk.
She was convinced the Aura deals Damage as soon as she (and her allys) gets attacked, no matter if she gets hit or not. I hardly never second guess, as long as the players tell me, that is how it is and i donīt know better. (I donīt like rules discussions at the table)
BUT:

Now i read the entry and there is written: Any creature striking you... is dealt damage.
Does the enemy have to hit or is the attempt enough?

Can someone please clarify that for me?

You have to actually be hit for the reciprocal damage to occur.

If you are attacked and missed, you are not "struck".

Thank you.
Will hurt my player, but make things more interesting.
