Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 361 through 370.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283609).

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34791)

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on March 25th, 4pm EDT. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last week, :durkon: 352 The Turnaround (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0352.html) gave a stirring speech that.... shattered all expectations, not to mention a few eardrums, causing the judges to narrowly vote in favor of it over its competitors.

Now it is time to move on to the next challenge, to the next adventure, and maybe even on to voting for who will win...

My all-time favorite OOTS strip: #367 :thog:

How could I not vote for 367?

Eesh, tough choice this time around. But having two siblings, I have a special liking for 364, so it gets my vote.

Oof, that's rough--a choice between a great Thog strip and a great Xykon strip. I'm gonna have to go with #367.

Gonna go with #368.

The idea that they first try to go in the watchtower without breaking it down and trying to sell encyclopedias and thin mints (why do they even have them?) is just priceless to me beyond measure.

Some nice stuff. This time not really a strip that really focuses on the CPPD :smallfrown:. I really like the transition 362 to 363. If I could vote for "Last two row of 362 + First row of 363", I would totally do that. 363 also feature the rise of the Rookie Chief. Elan/Thog in prison is just awesome, but I'm going for 369 - Fight!. Miko vs. Redcloak and the last panel are simply too good to turn down :smallcool:

At first I was going with 361. Like I wrote one week ago, in a bunch of well but not marvellous strips, that could be to remember.
Then, I read Thog's words game in 367 and changed my mind. This is not one of my favourite parts of the comic, and this could be just the second or third time I read this particulary strip. And that Nale nail not-Nale is remarkable, along with the eviltwin assumption.
Then again, I saw 368, 369 and 370. New bunch, much higher taste on my tongue. And 369 flies all over the ten of them.

Oh man. 367: Innocent Man. Is there even a question?

I'm pretty sure this strip is going to win Best of the Hundred from me already. Best of Ten is a no-brainer.

Redcloak vs. Miko is a great fight.

#367 for "what is offal?"

367, for the best pun line of the whole series.

speaking of which, what is offal?

367. Really, it is a strong candidate for best in hundred, or thousand, not merely best in 10.

Wow, this is a tough one! The Wizard Guy scene always makes me giggle, as does the not-nale, not nale... monologue. Also, is 369 the first time we see the roaches taking bets?
In the end, though, I'm going to have to go with 370. It does the most to advance the non-Nale-related plot, and shows Xykon being awesome.

With the forum downtime coming up, people might want to get their votes in while they can. If the forum is down much past Tuesday, I am very likely to close this week's poll very soon after the forum is back up and running.

So get those votes in ASAP if you wanted them counted. :smalltongue:

As others said, great Thog moment and a great Xykon moment here, too. I suppose that in the end, I'll go with :thog: for 367.

361 was marvelous, 'cause it showed for the first time that Nale was also a really dangerous schemer.
But yeah, 367 trumps all.

#367 is hilarious, but is going to win anyway so I'll give it to #362. These few strips were Nale's best moments.

Depending on just when things close down on Saturday I might just shut this week's poll on Saturday. Or I might allow any votes that come in after the forum comes back up, but before I get around to creating the next poll. Playing it by ear, mostly. :smallwink:

I hope I'm not posting too late, I just made an account. But anyway, 369. I mean, 367 is admittedly one of the funniest in this set of 100, but 369 deserves second in this set for an epic battle with Miko and Redcloack.

Yay, the forums are back! I'm gonna be swamped today, though. So I'm gonna grant a 24 hour extension and close up this batch tomorrow at 4pm EDT. I need the time to get used to the new table code (as well as fix all the old ones) anyways. :smalltongue:

369 - Miko vs Redcloak, two of the highest level living characters in this comic. Or well, at the time, Miko has since then passed on.

This is a pretty strong set, IMO. In fact, in total, I think I prefer the Miko/Xykon shenanigans to the Nale/Elan ones. But we got split right in the middle of that arc, and the best of it hasn't come up yet. Plus, let's face it, 367 is one of the utter classics that has been referenced far and wide, not just on this forum, but on the internet at large. So I'll join the herd and make this one of the few strips that gets majority of the votes.

And with that....

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

:elan: 367 Innocent Man (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0367.html) is the winner this week. It now moves on to the Best of the Hundred tournament.
