Hello! Me and my dm are new to dnd and I'm looking for a nice wizard build. I have access to: phb, dmg, spell compendium monster manual 1, and a few others. Our party is gonna be a rouge (PC), fighter (PC), me than whatever npcs the dm throws. Now I am gonna take arcane disciple so I can heal with wands. But I am wondering should I go specialist, or focused specialist, or domain wizard? Now I'm looking for a supporting (crowd control) who can also do damage when needed becaus of our lack for dps. Any sudgestions/schools to give up (or domains) will help! Thanks

Don't bother with Arcane Disciple for healing. Just get a Healing Belt (assuming MIC is allowed). And the Rogue can UMD all your wands anyway.

Also, Domain Wizard is far better than specialization unless you have a specific goal in mind that requires specialization (such as Abrupt Jaunt).

Just grab Conjuration Domain and you get the best spells picked for you automatically.

By the way, which handbooks have you read already?

Go straight wizard. It's all about conjuration with some transmutation. Anything with words summon, conjure or wall are pretty much your bread and butter. Avoid spells with saves if you can. I suggest as must is tasha's hideous laughter, as it can take down fighters easy. Avoid blasty spells unless they deal attribute damage. Let an npc heal or summon something to heal you and let an npc buff. Yeah you can give the fighter +4 str or you can make his opponent fall prone and laugh for the next so many rounds giving the fighter same bonus to hit and saving him health. The only buff I might suggest is haste for your rogue.

A wizard is a god.

I'm just scared about not having enough spells. With a 3 man party won't we be limited? The rouge is going for a stealth build and I am unaware of the fighter yet. I know my dm will be an ass about npc sand won't make a healer.

Take healing domain, done, you can now cast all healing spells and you're still a Wizard, basically you lack an extra heavy armour guy that can heal and do undead shenanigans.

If you are worried about having enough spells, ask for access to Complete Mage to be a Focused Specialist.

If you are worried about healing, read this:

Consider buying some mules with Attack, Attack Any, Defend, and whatever other three tricks you want (should be about ~30 gp per trained mule) if you are worried about not having enough meat shields.

Have you read this?

Sorry, I meant online handbooks. Like the Logicninja's Batman Wizard guide, Treantmonk's guide to God Wizard, etc. Those should help you understand the basics.
