:vaarsuvius: "I theorize that the halfling does not possess a true sentient brain, like you or I, but rather a simple lump of nerve tissue that serves as a primitive "proto brain" that can only process two emotional reactions to people: Hate or Lust"

:belkar: "You killed the wacky old dude with the cat!?!? I mean, I actually LIKED that guy!"

Belkar Awards: Most disturbing Mental Image..........

Well, we really can't get enough of those from Belkar.......

We've gone over this in another thread. The consensus is that only applies to females and V. For Males, he has "Hate" and "Amused by." Shojo and Elan are amusing, so he likes them.

This is assuming that V's theory on Belkars brain is at all true.

There are 2 explinations here.
1. Belkar Lusts for Shojo.
2. V is wrong.
I vote for 2.

I don't think you can really say that he likes Elan, I mean he doesn't like him enough to not try to kill him for XP (although granted that was a long time ago)

My intense desire for self-immolation forces me to imagine that picture in lieu of evidence.
It's not nearly so intimidating in stick-figure style.

I ninja'd you here and here, though I'm not sure why I'm so eager to share in the blame. And Belkar's professed (presumably nonsexual) fondness for Elan does predate all this, anyway. I'd say V is just wrong, and we can all breathe a sigh of relief.

Haruki-kun
2007-02-03, 09:20 PM
I think V IS wrong. I mean, Belkar doesn't seem to hate Elan, but not......the oher way either............. Same thing for Shojo, and maybe even Durkon.
V probably formulated that theory because (s)he couldn't find another explanaion to what happened in Azure city, but it apparently only works on females.

And DON'T take this to mean this can turn into a thread about V's gender. It doesn't matter that V was affected by it, cuz Belkar doesn't even know whether V's a guy or a girl.

Erk
2007-02-04, 03:55 AM
nah, I think V is right, but Belkar doesn't switch to lust if he knows the other person is a guy, he just has normal "Like". In V's case the ambiguity threw off the lizard-brain.

Fact is, Belkar was drunk and his choices for kissing were either Durkon or V.

It's not much of a choice, is it?

Hey, now that's scary, if only because of the potential of having little Belkars running around with destructive magical powers.

Yeah, I think you're right. Fairly good point. At least with V he had a 50-50 chance.

I'm comfortable with my life being a bit worse, so I looked it up.

Frankly, I had already assumed that without knowing there was a specific rule.

how did you reach that conclusion? Panel 5 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0335.html). Out of 7 people on the list, there are four girls and three guys (Roy, That Bilbo Tool and Gerald Ford).

Are you saying he's the only halfling in the multiverse with a shoe fetish?

Personally, the gay aspect is attractive, but the May-December part of a Shojo/Belkar pairing is a little off-putting. Though who knows how old Belkar is, with that demi-human longevity thing going on.

I bet Thog and the CitD could have a very fun, fairly innocent date, watching dwarf porn while eating ice cream with sprinkles. As long as it was gay porn - Thog doesn't like those girl cooties.
