How actually usable is the master of flies?

As a prc , does the master of flies rate like a monk, lots of features that don't really work, or is it still something to contribute to a party?

It's hard to say. Swarms changed a great deal between 3.0 and 3.5, so it matters how the class is updated.

Like many of the Savage Species PrCs, they are total win on flavorful npcs. Not quite so sure they are worth all the time and effort if you have to play through them level by level (though I've always wanted to play a siren Syren, extra points if I can play it in pbp with Psyren).
