Reincarnate for altered classes

Hi all. I was wondering what your thoughts would be on what happens if a character is reincarnated when they have a class ability that changes their type? Since they still have that class, would it overwrite their new form? Or would the new race take precedence? Thanks for your input.

I personally treat reincarnate as: 'pretend your character has been this race from level 1 on.'

So, a dragon disciple human is killed, and reincarnates as a gnome. IMO, the gnome would pretend he had been a gnome until dragon disciple 10, and then become a dragon.

There's also a 'type pyramid' in savage species, but it's highly doubtful whether it still works in 3.5.
