Copying spells

(I've been searching but might not have used the right keywords)

Is a wizard able to write copy a level 3 spell when he is but level 1?

Yes, if the Wizard succeeds at all the requirements including those Spellcraft checks. However, it doesn't count as a spell the Wizard knows until they can prepare and cast it.

A spell that an arcane spellcaster has learned and can prepare. For wizards, knowing a spell means having it in their spellbooks. For sorcerers and bards, knowing a spell means having selected it when acquiring new spells as a benefit of level advancement.
