So, yesterday Jacques Le Goff (http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/apr/01/influential-french-historian-jacques-le-goff-dies)passed away.
On one Hand, it does saddens me, on the other hand, sharing this news on Facebook prompted moving reactions from a much larger number of People than I anticipated. Either the world is full of closet history-geeks or I have routinely underestimated My friends' cultural achievements and interests.
Either way, I'll rise a glass to the man who almost singlehandedly showed me that the Dark ages weren't so Dark at all.
