View Full Version : Pathfinder Good spells for a L7 druid

I've recently seen a pathfinder druid who was rather underwhelming in combat, and I believe this may be due to poor spell selection. I'm curious what people would consider good combat-related spells for a druid at level 7, Paizo materials only. Or should it just use spontaneous summoning and overwhelm enemies with hordes of low-level monsters?

Any archetypes? Which attributes? Animal companion or Domain? (Animal shamans are pretty awesome when summoning a templated animal of their archetype, some spells are dependant on a decent Wis = save, and caster druids work better with a good domain plus spells while shifting + melee work better with a flanking buddy AC)

Anyway

L1:
Entangle (control)
Faerie Fire (cancels most illusion spells)
Longstrider (cast 7 hours in advance giving you that 10 ft movement bonus)
Magic Fang (for him or its AC to overcome DR/magic or get a small bonus)
Shillelagh (for when you want to kick ass but lack a good magic weapon, not advisable with low str)
Produce Flame (Fire Damage ranged attack on demand)

L2:
Heat/Chill Metal: Yeah, in armor you don't get a save
Resist Energy: Resistance 20 for a given element, kick ass
Lesser Restoration: At LEAST once/day
Warp Wood: Weapons have wooden shafts usually, or doors for control

L3:
Aqueous Orb (stop sluggish creatures with weak Reflex saves)
Mad Monkeys (she may not like the fluff but the debuffs are awesome)
Spike Growth (1d4 damage per 5 foot moved, halfed speed and usable as a hard to detect trap? sign me up!)
Stone Shape (THE dungeon spell for controlling and having passages)

L4:
Airwalk (flying without Fly checks)
Dispel Magic (kind of high level but worth it)
Bloody Claws (3 Bleed damage for EVERY attack your AC does)
Geyser (control and damage with SR no)
Ball Lightning (damage on cruise control)

There are many more spells but I have to go to work.

Thanks, that was useful. And to answer your question, animal companion and no archetype.
