This is a thread inspired by Roy accusations. Basically, its a thread for "heroes" (and villains) behaving badly. It's not enough to be evil but the most meanest, uncomfortable, and cruelest moments for the characters of the webcomic.

Especially moments that made you reconsider your like of a character. The moments where you go "X is a real flumphole isn't he?"

For me, the all time biggest Flumphole moment was when I thought Nale was going to have sex with Haley as Elan. Thankfully, it just turned out to be plain old murder.

:whew:

Mmm... Read the original post.

Mine was watching Nale right before they teleported out of Cliffport. "Yes, off to adventure! Wait, what did you..." I actually felt sorry for Nale.

Oh another one was Xykon when he forcecaged Miko. I was thinking, "come on, Xykon, forcecage is inescapable, you forgot to make the classic villan mistake of leaving a way out! Now you have to kill her!" And then it was actually a moderately escapable forcecage instead.

However, the most annoying moment was Thog and Elan and the giant llama. I still want an explanation for Thog in a leprechaun suit! There aren't even leprechauns in 3.5 yet!

Some of the darker moments that we all know

* Roy leaving Elan to be captured for a bit.

* Roy setting up Miko's hopes before dashing them to pieces.

* Roy trash talking Miko's sexuality.

* Miko attacking Hinjo.

There was the moment when Vaarsuvius argued from Belkar's perspective on what to do with the Linear Guild after they were defeated in the showdown in Azure City. Leads me to suspect that s/he may be non-good.

For me? It was in no particular order...
1) Julia letting Roy get smacked around
2) Momma Bitterleaf's Special Secret Recipe For Extra-Chunky Kobold Dip.
3) Basically any scene with Eugene Greenhilt's patronizing attitude towards his son.
4) Shojo the Ventriloquist, although that was justified and pretty funny.

I think it's been fairly well established that V is True Neutral. He keeps his promises, but doesn't necessarily obey laws. He undertakes adventures for personal profit, not necessarily the good of those he works on behalf of. However, he does care about people and will help them if it doesn't conflict with his goals. He's also not above harming people if it amuses him (e.g., Belkar).

The part where he argues Belkar's viewpoint with respect to dealing with the LG is pure comedic genius, given his dislike of the halfling.

Oh, and my personal flumphhole moment? When Thog beat Haley with the door. That was just mean.

How many times can you re-evaluate your perceptions of a character?

Yeah, my perception also. And such alignment-neutrality would also go well with the gender-neutrality in a sense vis a vis the overall theme of the character design.

Thog is mean. He also used a dwarf blacksmith as a puppy some time ago.

The whole comic is full of them, again and again and again.

Haley sneaking ahead for some private looting.
Haley tricking the rest of the order into smaller treasure shares.
Durkon treating Hilgya like dirt.
V every other day going on and on about how superior he is and how dumb everyone else is.
"I prepared Explosive Runes this morning" - used once or twice legitimately, the rest of the time just to torment people.
Belkar. Enough said.
The way Xycon treats his own people.
Miko treating everyone she meets like dirt.
Miko threatening death to anyone she doesn't like.
Julia Greenhilt's bitchiness
Roy's father's manipulations for his own ego.
Elan paying for things with "30' per round movement rate"
and so on and so on and so on.

You can either conclude that pretty much everyone in the entire comic is an unpleasant, dishonest, criminal pain in the butt - or you can say "it's a comic, it's funny!" Personally I choose the latter.

Speaking of which, would that be great as a license plate boarder--just big enough for tailgaters to read? They would go home, google it on the internet and not get it at all but still I would like it.

I agree. V values truth over all else, but it'd take a daaaang big one to get him to advocate Belkar's usual method.
V does seem neutral-ish. After all, he only grudgingly helped the dirt farmers. And he can get irritable with people...Not to mention the "Explosive Runes"...I suspect V may be True Neutral with a chaotic bent. As vaguely related evidence, V said he worships an elven god of knowedge...And the Smart Gods tend towards neutrality.
