After a quick search, I realized there was no fanclub for the Demon Cockroaches: Nameless NPC's they may be, but they are important and loved NPCs!

I'd like to like them, but they remind me way too much of those little guys that make snarky comments in political cartoons. The demon roaches' comments are better, of course, but I just hate that convention. Have faith in the power of your artwork, silly satirists!

Theyve been in enough strips to deserve names.... we should give them names.... and if not names then perhaps titles. The outspoken roach, the sarcastic roach...

I assume it simply escaped. The roaches don't really seem combative (thought that could partly be a size issue) and real roaches generally just scurry off when they feel threatened. Once the Good residents were gone, there would be nothing to attract Good roaches any more.

Even if it died, I don't think it would have become undead. Xykon seems disinterested in roaches in general, and Redcloak actively dislikes having the demon roaches around, so I doubt either of them would bother trying to zombify a dead bug.
