There is no such thing as a plea of innocence in my court. A plea of innocence is guilty of wasting my time. Guilty.
Inquisitor Lord Fyodor Karamazov

Onboard the litany of Fury, imperial black ship of the inquisition, orbiting the planet Auraxis. A normal imperial world.

-Your normal preparations for the day, each of you are summoned to meet inquisitor Vail in the briefing room. It would seem there is a mission for your kill team. Vail was a shrewd inquisitor and she is responsible for several exterminatuses, if she did not see a point in saving a world she simply didn't bother waiting for reinforcements. This attitude has had her assigned to the Jericho reach to help spearhead the conquests. There were no conquests today however. you arrived over Auraxis seeking to break the ork WAAAAGGHH that had hit the planet.-

Dyr, moves through the ship silently, sticking to the shadows, it may have been an Imperial ship, but in his long history he had learnt to trust no one. Soon he was at the door of the briefing room, he entered quietly, seeing only the Inquisitor.

"Inquesitor" he whispers as a greeting.

Sepheran was a bit excited to finally be summoned. It felt like forever since he had been in real battle so being summoned to break an ork Waagh. Well that would be enough for him. Walking towards the inquisitors office, Seph couldn't stop thinking about the last time he had fought orks. There was still an odd twinge of pain whenever he used his fist to fight.

Upon reaching the briefing room, Seph gives a curt nod to the inquisitor before nodding to his fellow adeptus astartes with maybe a hint of more respect to him.

Paullus marches down the corridors towards the briefing room, making no attempts at stealth or even muffling the noise of his heavy footsteps. Upon entering the room he nods towards his battle brothers and the Inquisitor before standing at attention by the table. "Good day my Lady, Brothers".

Dorian had grown tired of waiting. Six months in the Deathwatch and yet he had seen no action. Just six months of sitting in Watch Fortresses or aboard ships with little to do but train. Now though things were looking up. True it was just greenskins, but that was better than nothing. A single ork was not really a challenge, he had killed more dangerous creatures by the time he was 15 back on Granus. An entire Waaagh was a different matter, while a single Kyrek might be larger and stronger than an Ork Kyreks never traveled in group of more than five, but Orks traveled by the thousands. Upon further examination today was definitely shaping up to be an interesting day.

"Greetings Inquisitor, Brothers." Was all he said when he entered the room.

The apothecary who entered the room did so in a strange way. He moved with an almost feral grace, his limbs and arms in constant, prowling motion. As he entered Tanrim's white, beaked helmet snapped from brother to brother, quite similar to the way an Astartes did when acquiring and cycling through target locks. As his gaze settled on the Inquisitor he inclined his head in the slightest gesture resembling a nod, and his voice purred with a predatory undertone as he spoke. "Inquisitor" he said softly.

As he moved to take his position his gaze stopped as he noticed the blood red shoulder and insignia of Sepheran. He moved closer to the Blood Angel, his gaze unwavering through his helmet. "Well met, brother" he growled with a strange inflection in his voice, respect maybe?

-Vail Looks at the marines infront of her- Marines, as you know we have arrived in orbit around the planet auraxis. You may wonder why you are here and not on the ground fighting xenos. This is because I believe in applying a large amount of force to a singular point to shatter the rock. Now then, orks as you know are vile xenos that are an unrelenting tide of destruction and blight upon any system they enter. However another true fact about Orks, is that if you kill the warboss, the Waagh will end as the infighting starts. Now your objectives will be twofold. -Brings up a holographic display of a city- This is the Central Shrine city of the world -it zooms in on a large central spire- In this tower is the planetary governor, now normally I wouldn't care about some fool trapped in his den, but....the planetary defense systems have ceased functioning. The only way to get the anti orbital guns to fire is to retrieve a sample of his blood, if you wish to rescue the governor and his family you can, but his survival is not necessary. Now of further note, right now the ork warboss is working his way towards the tower the governor is in, it is estimated he'll reach the base within the hour, and thus you drop in 15. Any questions?

Sepheran smirked at what appeared to be a Flesh Tearer. "Well met" he says before flicking his gaze up to the Inquisitor. Standing stock still as she gave the briefing, that was enough information for but he waited to see what the others would ask.

"How close will our Drop Zone be to the governor's location?" Dorian asks as he examines what details there are to the projection.

Tanrim listened to the briefing with little interest. What he had heard and deemed important was the following 'Slaughter every Ork and the Warboss, bring the governors blood. No survivors necessary'. To Tanrim that was ideal, no true allied forces to watch for save his brother-marines. A horde of enemies to vent the fury of the Emperor on, and a foe powerful enough to challenge any of them.

Through the haze of anger something occurred to him, and his gaze snapped around as he looked at the Inquisitor "Once we have the blood sample, what location shall we proceed to in order to reactivate the defense platforms? Is extraction or tactical advance expected?" he snarled in a low voice. He didn't mean to make the question sound threatening, it was in his nature.

Paullus thinks for a moment before responding. "I can think of a few Inquisitor. Do we know why the Governor has dropped out of contact? What defenses does his tower possess? What Imperial forces are in the region? And have Ork scouts reached the area yet?"

Dyr steps forward "Will scouting and recon be needed?" he says in a mono-tone.

-Vail clicks a remote and points to the hologram- You are being dropped in the eastern ward of the city, That is where the largest amount of ork activity is. Any orks you kill is a bonus so no reason to keep you from them. Now the ork entire war force is on the eastern walls, they havn't fully broken through yet....but they're close to. The warboss and a force of nobs and a lot of ork soldiers have broken through the walls here -Marks a spot on the walls of the city- If conditions are willing, we'll have a transport arrive at the top of the tower the governor is in, to extract you. There will be no recon needed.-She scowls a bit at the question about the governor- now why the governor dropped out of contact, apparently ensuring the safety of his family is more important than the planet. As for forces in the region, the imperial guard 101 regiment are trying to hold the eastern front.

Sepheran shook his head at the Govenor's actions. "Then shouldn't the Governor be considered traitor for putting one family's needs above the planet's needs? Either way it sounds like we have what we need and should be going." Seph folded his arms waiting on the others, admiring the trim work on his gauntlets.

jessedevaan

"If no recon is required then will you excuse me? I must locate my power armour" he says stepping towards the door (but not going through until excused).

Tanrim nodded in agreement with Sepheran, the governers priority had just switched from save if necessary to expendable. "This governor is a coward and a fool to abandon his duties such. The Emperor will show him no mercy and neither will I". He snarled something else, and his helmet twitched involuntarily as he did. None of the others would understand it though. Even the Blood Angels had no knowledge on the guttural, feral tongue of Cretean.

"If saving his life his not an inconvenience we should take him with us that he may stand trial for his treason. If he is publicly tried and executed he will make a much better example than if he should die amidst an Ork attack." Dorian says calmly. While he cares little if the governor lives or dies he will not succumb to the desire to strike him down, nor will he stand by and allow a brother marine to do so.

Paullus nods towards Dorian. "I agree with Brother Dorian, the Governor should be tried for his crimes publicly as an example. A battlefield execution might make him a martyr, especially if it is not known why he is being executed." He takes note of the responses of Tanrim and Dyr. My brothers seem quite eager for blood to be spilled, so long as it is only the blood of the enemies of mankind we shall be of one mind he thinks to himself.

Tanrim gave a slight jerk of his head to the Inquisitor before following his brothers to the arming chambers. After gunning his chainswords and testing his bolt pistol he made his way to the teams designated drop pod. As he walked he murmured the litany of pure thought under his breath and double checked the systems on his nathecarium, making sure it's functions were in order.
As he entered the drop pod bay he glanced behind him, waiting for his brothers to arrive before stalking off to their pod.

Okay folks, if anyone has tactics (drop pods) you can attempt a tactics roll to better where you land

Sorry for the delay, I was in the busiest week of my life, better now so lets continue

-The Drop pod launches, you feel the weightlessness of space suddenly stop as the rockets on the drop pod engage. Flying towards the planet at great speed your helmets come up with a tactical readout of the city, and your projected landing. It seems there had been something off with the targeting and you were about to land in the middle of an orc force. As you feel the retro rockets fire to slow you decent just enough. You know it is time to ready for battle.-

....................................

-skullthwaker looks at the ork next to him- Oi, ya hear something? - he is then crushed beneath the 40,000 pounds of steel and anger that is a drop pod carrying space marines. the orks gather ready to fight raising their shootas-

okay give me initiative rolls, you are facing a magnitude 60 horde of ork shoota boys.

Sepheran was silent in the rough ride down. Seeing the tactical come up he quickly picked up his bolt pistol swapping the normal rounds for Storm Metal rounds. He mentally prepared himself for the coming fight, he relished the oncoming feelings that would be had. The moment the drop pod opens up, Seph activates his jetpack, flying out and up into the air as fast as possible. Flying up he let a burst of shots from the bolt pistol issue forth.

First off Initiative: [roll0]

Ok, so you said we could say actions so here goes nothing.
Half action: move, using the jetpack at maximal thrust to fly into the air, 4 or so meters of the ground?
Half action semi-auto

BS: 45+10(semi-auto)=55 [roll1]

If I went way to far ahead sorry and disregard this?

As the drop pod descends Dorian remains quiet and composed, prepared for action. When the tactical display activates he draws his bolter with his right hand and flips the fire selector switch to Metal Storm before drawing his Power Sword with his left hand. As soon as the pod doors drop Dorian begins firing into the crowd of Orks.

Just before impact, as he observes that they are being dropped into a horde of Orks, Paullus mutters a prayer to the Primarch and the God Emperor and readies his heavy bolter. As the pod blossoms open, he lets loose a devastating burst of fire into the center of the Ork Horde. "FOR THE GOD EMPEROR" he screams at the top of his lungs, the scream amplified by his Power Armor is inhumanly loud.

So full auto DAKKA DAKKA, I get 3 damage to the horde per hit?

As they neared the drop-zone Tanrim grinned a vicious grin as he realized they were plunging into the Ork Horde. As the drop pod slammed down he unslung one of his chainswords and felt the revving growl of his weapon. Taking a step forward he stopped himself for a moment. The thought of blood and combat was upon him and it took all of his will to force himself to think rationally. He was an apothecary, the team's apothecary, he was their medical crutch, and if he wanted to protect his brothers he needed to keep a level head, lest he lose track of his brothers positions and condition.

Shaking his head he forced himself into a calmer battle-trace, taking one last moment to check his brother's conditions on his helmet's HUD he raced out of the pod, screaming curses and oaths in a mix of gothic and Cretaen. He plowed into the Ork Horde swinging his chainsword and reveling in the slaughter, every once in a while glancing at his helmet's readings to make sure his brothers were still uninjured.

BS full auto for drop pod [roll0] so I totalled it and you guys just obliterate them >.>

-you burst from the drop pod like some force of nature, not space marines. in a hail of bolter shells, flames, and might you tear into the ork horde obliterating it in mere seconds. As the smoke dissipates you find none of the orks left alive, their weapons twisted husks, though orks guns arn't much more thna that on the best of days, and their bodies splotches of green flesh and ichor splattered over the entire street. As you stand you note snow starting to fall and your tactical liason is heard over the microbead- Damn -the female voice speaks- My lords you're gonna want to hurry, a blizzard is moving in and once it does navigating the streets will be near impossible in the whiteout conditions. It seems the drop pod was misaimed and you landed farther away from your target deep in ork territory, proceed south and you'll reach your objective. -the snow was starting to fall faster now, your helmet alight with the data transmited from the ship showing the larger forces of orks still engaged with imperial guard.-

Again so sorry for the delay

Paullus works quickly to clear the jam in his heavy bolter, going through all the necessary rituals to appease the machine spirit. Having done that he remarks to his Battle-Brothers. "Let us move quickly, our armor is colored quite inconveniently for this weather. Speed will have to augment stealth." He looks around and consults his tac display to attempt to find the quickest route to the Governor.

Tanrim took in the sight around him, the blood and gore coating the ground and his armour made him feel more at ease than the past weeks of warp travel ever could. His head was mercifully clear now that he had laid waste to the enemies of the Emperor. Moving away from the rest of the team he located the head of the largest ork corpse he could and nonchalantly gunned the ignition of his chainsword.

A few moments later he wandered back over to the group as Paullus spoke, a large ork head dangling from the hooks on his belt. He gave a short, curt nod. "Stealth would allow us to reach the objective quicker, but let us not fully rely on such cowardly means. Every battle we partake in could serve to draw out the Warboss and end his blasphemy against the Empeor"

-Well the snow gets you turned around but with a ltitle help from your tactical liason you are making progress towards the tower, however the snow is getting deeper up to your hips now and she speaks over the coms- My lords the blizzard has no signs of weakening, and may only get worse. If you continue on your present course you'll reach the tower, however if you want to get out of the snow there is an underground tunnel system that'll reach there you can take. The entrance is a hundred yards forward it'll be hard to miss.

Paullus activates his comm and asks the tactical liason. "What were those tunnels originally used for?" He then turns towards his comrades. "I don't believe this snow will be able to stop us, but it will slow us, brothers, what are your thoughts?"

Iron Warlord
2014-05-08, 11:51 AM

"Then the tunnels seem most advisable." Seph said off-handed as he was trying to stare through the snow, searching for signs of the Greenskin vermin.
