The Rakko Region (PTU) IC

It was a typical morning in Morwin; the sun was shining, the pidgey were squawking, and the townspeople were going about there usual business.

Despite the rush of progress over the region Morwin village was one of the few places in Rakko that managed to keep the rustic look of the older days. The well traveled dirt roads with the elegant hand craftsmanship of the homes contrasted with the one building that stood out.

The brand new pokemon center situated near the entrance of the village, only in operation for a few months it had it's own elegance in design but clashed harshly with the looks of the village. Despite this most enjoyed the new building and the benefits of a "big city" building out this far.

It was outside this building that four individuals were told to expect Professor Mulberry so their adventure could begin.

Kay glance's over at the three other individuals and thinks to himself *Hmm, we must seem like an odd bunch*. Kay then looks at the pokemon center, noting how new it looks and then starts playing with the cuff's of his shirt, either waiting for someone else bolder than him to start a conversation or for professor Mulberry to arrive.

Angriff greets each of them individually with a handshake while says "Nice to meet you, my name is Angriff!" after finishing greetings his stomach starts growling really loud, he says a bit ashamed "Man, I don't know if I am more hungry or anxious...I can't wait to meet Professor Mulberry!" after saying the professor name (Mulberry) Angriff stomach starts growling even louder.

After Angriff introduces himself, Jack who was leaning on the side of the building introduces himself says "Hey guys names Jack uhh...so I'm guessing we're all waiting for Professor Mulberry"....."Right?"

"That's right, nice to meet you all, I'm Kay. I don't blame you Angriff, I'm a bit nervous too but it sounds like its a mixture for you." Kay turns to the other's, smirking.

[Talon15]

Amidst your introductions the door to the center opens, one of the nurses stepping out to speak to you. "Oh. You must be the ones Mulberry was talking about. She just called and we'll be here shortly." With a nod and a smile she steps back into the building.

A quick glance inside while the door is open reveals a state of the art center. The waiting room even has a large flat screen tv with an exhibition match underway.

"And that looks like it's it for the challenger folks! Yule Mordek's last pokemon has been knocked out. Looks like Gin wins again!" The camera focuses on a girl doing a victory pose with her pokemon, a large sumo wrestler looking mon. The caption reveals her to be "Gin Marrus, Elite Four member." The door finally closes before anything else can be said and it returns to quiet for the moment.

However, farther down the road it looks like three individuals are just entering town on foot. They only pause for a second before they begin heading in your direction.

Before the door closes, Kay quickly says"Ah, Thank you for telling us Miss." Seeing the three other people walking towards them, Kay moves away from the poke center's entrance as not to block their access.

Micheal had been tending to his Portable Grower. He had planed to grow something in it, but he had neglected to pack any of his plants as seeds. Micheal had been digging through his bag when everyone started talking."Oh hey dudes, sorry about not talking or nothing I was just looking for my barriers. So you're the other guys who are helping out this professor chick? He said, standing in front of the entrance oblivious of the people walking their way.

"Yep, seems so and hopefully she'll be here shortly, what's your name? I don't think I caught it." Kay looks away from the group of three to Micheal.

[NATEINCAPS]

"Radical dudes," Michael said, nodding his head up and down a bit, "My name's Michael, and I hope we have an awesome time do this. Where is this professor chick anyways? He finished, looking around for anyone wearing a lab coat.

Looking at Micheal, Jack replies "It seems she's on her way already so it shouldn't be long now." Jack sees the people approaching and to himself thinks *Are they here for the same thing as us..how many of us are there?..hmm*

As the trio approach you realize that they are three ladies traveling; the two in the back are wearing lab coats and multiple suitcases between them. Which means the one in front excitedly approaching must be the professor.

Her lab coat tucked under one arm she stands at a mere 5'6". Red hair and green eyes behind a set of spectacles she appears to be in her late 30's, but has the spring in her step you'd expect of someone half her age. Bringing up the rear her two lab assistants give a huge sigh of relief as they set down the suitcases they were carrying. Closer to your age the two girls don't appear to be happy being baggage carriers.

"Oh I am so happy to meet all of you! You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this moment." She begins as she puts on her lab coat and adjusts her glasses.

"It took a lot of effort to get the board to approve and even more to get the necessary equipment..." Quickly closing the last few steps between the two groups she eagerly shakes all your hands as she prattles on. One of her assistants, sighs.

"Professor..."

"... and not to mention the money. After the lab was completed they were understandably hesitant to give us another grant and..."

"Professor..."

"... not to mention who I chose as candidates. I mean they were.."

"PROFESSOR!" The aide finally yells.

Turning in surprise to her subordinate she blushes as she steps back and adjust her clothing again.

"My sincerest apologies I didn't even introduce myself. I am professor Luan Mulberry of the Rakko Research Institute. I do hope you were the four I was expecting?" Despite the embarrassment she still has her hands clasped in glee.

Kay smiles at Professor Mulberry. "Its nice to meet you, Professor Mulberry. I believe we are the four. That's a lot of suitcases..."

Angriff looks amazed to the professor, his heart beating faster, his stomach growling, his hand sweating a bit, but he gets calmer as the professor start to talk - for some reason he liked her. Angriff wait for the professor finishes to talk and says "Nice to meet you Professor, I'm Angriff Stahl And yes we are the four! Also...do you need help carrying those suticases?"

"Hey Professor..its good to meet you..I,m Jack" ..Noticing Angriff stepping forward,Jack takes a step forward.Noticing the way the Professor talks and her upbeat movement makes Jack feel more excited about why he is here.

[NATEINCAPS]

Micheal step foward also, trying to fit in with the rest of the group. "Hey professor, it's awesome to finally meat you. I'm Micheal, and we're your guys, I think, at lest. Say what's up with the suitcases?" He finished, gesturing over to the apparently heavy suitcases.

"Oh most of that is equipment, computers, paperwork the same drab stuff I have to bring on a trip. You needn't worry about them my assistants can handle it." She waves her hand to some of the heavy suitcases and the unamused helpers.

"But these two over here are special. And are our gift to you four." As she begins to speak, the two assistants take the aforementioned cases and bring them forward.

"Our land is going through a lot of changes, as you may have noticed. Some for the best and others not so much, but what remains the same are the pokemon who live here and how they coexist with us and each other. The board and the league both agree that having an accurate as possible account of the local species is important. I selected you four because I wanted you to travel the region and see everything it had to offer, cataloging all the pokemon you can. So with that in mind we had these custom made and sent to our lab, arriving just yesterday." The lab assistant who spoke earlier opens her case, revealing four brand new pokedexes.

"These are pokedexes, made especially for our region, each one is connected to our central mainframe in Starview and will keep us updated of any pokemon you scan. But that's not all I wish to give you four." Her other assistant opens her case, showing a dozen pokeballs.

"To help you I wanted to give each of you one from this collection. We had pokemon from other labs in other regions shipped to us to aide in our studies, hopefully they can be useful to you on your journey." Mulberry smiles as she gestures to both cases.

"Huh, Pokedexes are expensive..." Kay mutters, looks at the new shiny pokedexes. Now looking at the case containing the pokeballs "Thank you Professor Mulberry, I hope we didn't cause you too much trouble with you getting these pokemon."

Jack picks up the pokedex...* hmm..looks different than I expected* Looking at the pokeballs he asks "So how do you know what pokemon is in each ball...seems weird that they aren't labeled?

Angriff looks to professor Mulberry with a large smile in his face and say "Wow, pokedexes! Thank you Professor, that is a great gift!" Angriff grabs his pokedex and look at it amazed for a second, then he comes close to the suitcases with the pokeballs and start looking at them saying "Professor Mulberry, any of these pokemons have steel as typing? even if secondary...I love steel type pokemons!"

"Oh, awesome, a pokedex," Michael said as he graved one of the pokedex, "You know my mom owned one of these. It allways looked super cool, but she never let me touch it for some reason" As Michel finished his hands sliped as he was fiddling with the pokedex and he nearly doped it. "Oops, guess I should be more careful, right?

"Oh no it wasn't a problem at all." She chuckles as she fishes out a note from one of her pockets.

"And I DO have a list... ah here it is." Adjusting her spectacles she lists off the names of several starters, pointing to each pokeball as she goes.

"We have a... piplup, oshawatt, squirtle, charmander, cyndaquil, torchic, chespin, bulbasuar and turtwig. I believe Piplup is what you'll want in the long run Angriff. It should appeal to your tastes." She has a smile of satisfaction as she folds the note back up, giving a nod to Micheal as she retrieves another pokedex from her lab coat.

"I bet she had lots of adventures too! These models are probably considerably newer than what your mother used.." As micheal fumbles both Mulberry and her aides visibly wince. "And considerably more expensive."

"Oh, if nobody would mind I would prefer the Bulbasaur." Kay says looking at the others.

[Mistelin]

"Chespin sounds like a cool pokemon...I think I want to use him if no one objects.".Jack picks up the Chespin pokeball. Looking at Professor Mulberry he asks."So...What kind of pokemon is this guy?" he holds out the pokeball "I've never heard of this type before."

Angriff listen with attention and then repplies "All right! Piplup it is! Thanks Professor Mulberry." Angriff then gets Piplup's pokeball and quickly releases him to take a better look, as soon as he is out of the pokeball he falls on the ground a bit 'clumsy', but Angriff is happy with his choice; a water pokemon is a good choice to balance his Aron weakness. He then says to his new pokemon "Nice to meet you! My name is Angriff and I'm going to be your new master. I think I will call you....Prinny, what do you think?"

Micheal's eyes sparked up upon hearing one of his favorite pokemon's name being called out. "An Oshawatt? You mean those awesome ninja samurai water guys with a shell? I want one!" Michael finished as he reached in and garbed the Oshawatt's pokeball, looking it over like a child who had just been given candy.

[Talon15]

Mulberry smiles as she watches you each choose a pokemon. The aide closing the case once you're done.

"There's no password. You just have to open them like Angriff did. Your chespin is a grass type pokemon and a real tough cookie." She chuckles as she adjusts her spectacles again. Getting back into the science talk.

"You can think of a pokeball as a storage device really. They're not just shoved into the ball but actually converted into energy. It's painless and harmless to them." She nods to her aides as they jostle the equipment inside the pokemon center. Watching them enter she turns back to you again.

"Now than as for your trip; I don't want you to think this is just about scanning everything you see. You're in this for yourselves too. Challenge the league, participate in the contests, or just see what the region has in store for you. I want you to explore what this region has to offer and have fun." Mulberry gestures to the open road and what lies beyond. She gets a dreamy look as she wraps up.

"Oh to have the opportunity to travel again. But I have my responsibilities that I have to attend to. Before I send you off do you kids have anymore questions for me?"

"I have one, Professor. Do you have any tips for us, you seem like a seasoned traveler. "

[Mistelin]

Jack copies Angriff and sees Chespin come out of the pokeball.For a moment Chespin and Jack just stare each other...the moment almost becomes awkward until..they both turn their attention to hear Professor Mulberry answer to Kay's question...

Mulberry takes a minute to think before responding.


"Well the closest place is Crazer city. Just follow the road out of town and it's east from there. They have a gym and a local contest hall and plenty of young trainers like yourselves." She nods as she points in the general direction of the city.

"It would be a great place to start!"

As the others Angriff waits for professor answer Kay's question and then repply "Crazer City, uh? All right! Who is the Gym leader there? And what kind of pokemon he uses?" Angriff's eyes are fiery right now, mostly because he will be able to challenge his first gym leader. And if he want to become a gym leader, someday, he will have to face many gym challenges.

"Yeah that's a good plan, thank you Professor." Kay then starts fiddling with the new pokedex.

"She Angriff. Lucy Corbin is a dark specialist." She corrects with a giggle.

"Lucy Corbin, dark specialist, uh?" Angriff repeats more to 'memorize' than anything else "Thanks for everything Professor Mulberry!!" Angriff is smiling, happy to finally start his journey.

"Yeah, thanks for all of this professor" Michael said after he finished looking over his new pokeball. He then turned to the group and finished with "So we all ready to go?".

Kay nods"I'm ready. Thank you Professor, I doubt many people get this chance." Kay looks at the others, adjusting his backpack.

"I'm also ready! So let's move on..." Angriff, usually really relaxed almost lazy, today is felling full of energy. He then start heading out waving another thanks and goodbye for Professor Mulberry.

After hearing about the gym in Crazer...Jack looks at Chespin and says "Well I hope your ready" Chespin looks Jack in the eye and puffs out his chest a bit as if to say "I,m ready"...Turning to everyone else and the Professor he says "Well looks like me and him are ready..unless you guys want to do something else?" Than turning to Chespin he says" We are gonna have to figure out a name for you...but I guess we'll figure that out later."

"I can't thank you enough for the help and I wish you godo luck in your travels. I can't wait to hear of your fun stories next time we meet." Professor Mulberry takes each of you by the hand in turn, shaking them in thanks. With that she stands aside leaving you four to the open road. Giving a final wave as you depart for Crazer city.

Kay turns to the other, specifically at Angriff, and smiles "So, you want to take down the gyms? Do you have much experience battling with pokemon?".

Angriff looks to Kay and answer him with a friendly tone "Well, to be honest I still do not have much experience in battle, I do like then and I battled a couple of times with my Aron - Panzer, but that is about it.... And I want to compete against the gym leaders to become stronger and maybe someday become a gym leader myself! A Steel type gym leader, just like my mother! I will also compete on the Pokemon League, most for the fun of doing it!"

Angriff waits a second and then says "And how about you guys, are you all planing to battle against the gym leaders?" Angriff says looking at all three of them.

"Hmm, I'm not actually sure. I guess I'll just wait and see, maybe I surprise everyone and be good at it.". Kay then lets out a single "Ha" then starts fiddling with his shirts cuffs again.

Over hearing Kay`s and Angriffs conversation...Jack thinks to himself * these guys seem strong...gonna have to pay attention to them...I might learn something*

"I don't know," Micheal said in response to Angriff question "I'v never really put any thought into pokemon battling, but I guess there is a first time for everything!"

Angriff listen to all his new companions with attention, he then repplies, especially to the last comment by Michael, "Hey, we could do a quickly friendly battle here, before we leave...it is a great way to get to know a pokemon. And to be honest I'm dieing to see my Prinny in action, we could do a 2x2 or two 1x1, what you guys think?"

Kay looks down at his two pokeballs. "Yeah, I'm up for a battle, perhaps the 2x2 would be best so we can see how we all act during a battle. But I'm up for anything, will we only use the pokemon Professor Mulberry gave us?".

[Mistelin]

"If we are gonna do this...who vs who?"

"I wouldn't mind going first, if any of our pokemon are hurt bad I can heal them in any case.".

[Mistelin]

"Well we should probably find a field some place off the road...to battle."

[NATEINCAPS]

"Yeah, sere, we can fight. I want to see how awesome this ninja dude is. Let's just make sere to not brake anything ,ok?" Michale said, looking down at his new pokedex.

After they find a properly place for the battle - but not so far from the pokemon center - Angriff releases his Piplup and says "All right, let's do it! Just to make things fair, I will flip a coin on heads I will pair with Kay and on Tails I will pair with Jack. That way there is a Water and a Grass pokemon to each side..." Angriff then toss a coin up and catch it in one hand and place on the other hand, he then looks and it is heads. He announces "All right! Me and Kay vs Michael and Jack!"

As Jack watches the coin flip in midair...he notices that Chespin is also awaiting the result.Their heads move in unison as the result is revealed....Together Chespin and Jack look at Michael.Than they look at Angriff and Kay ...The 2 make eye contact and take a step forward together...as if to say "Lets do this"

"Mhm, let us get ready." Kay grabs the pokeball holding the Bulbasaur and release's him. "Hello there, uh, I guess I'll call you Herbaceous. In a second we'll be battling those two." Kay then points to Jack and Michale.

Jack quickly pulls out his pokedex because he remembers he doesn't actually know anything about his Chespin.He quickly looks around and hopes his lack of knowledge isn't obvious.

Jack looks to Chespin, "Show them you mean business." Chespin runs up and position himself between both Prinny and Herbaceous, and then uses Growl.

"Ok, Waterbro, show that Piplup who's awesome by hitting it, awesomely".

As each of you call out your orders your four mons leap into battle.

Waterbro charges in first, tackling Prinny hard. Following in behind him Thrown growls at his opponents, Herbaceous scoffs but Prinny seems a little nervous.

On the counterattack Herb attempts to tackle Waterbro but he avoids the attack easily, only to step into Prinny's pound.


Waterbro did 22 (normal physical) to prinny before defense or abilities.

Prinny's did 17 (normal physical) to Waterbro. (prinny's attack was lowered one stage)


A crowd has quickly begun to form as you four square off, several are quick to cheer.

"Nice hit!" "Oh that one is quick" "Mommy I like that one!" "Oh try and go at him the other way!" "That look like it hurt."

Angriff looks at Prinny and notice that even though the attack hit hard, he was still able to take 1 or 2 of those. Angriff then said "Prinny keep the pressure!"

Reading the situation, Jack looks at Micheal and says, "Lets take out Prinny," turns "Chespin! Use Vine Whip on Prinny!"

Kay looks at the amassed crowd and smiles slightly "Herbaceous follow prinny's lead for now."

Micheal noticed the small crowed that was starting to form around the battle. "More people? Well then, we'll just have to show them what you're made of, right Waterbro?". Then Micheal spoke to his Oshawott in a lowed voice in an (failed) attempt to not be heard by the crowed."Remember you're made of awesome"

Micheael used do nothing
Waterbro took 17-3=14 points of damage (from round one's attacks), HP= 22/36

Backed by the crowds cheering Waterbro charges into prinny again, the little penguin is reeling from the blow. Making him an easy target for Thorn's vine whip.

A load *crack* can be heard before Prinny tumbles backwards from the blow, unconscious.

Herbaceous, unabated charges into waterbro. His hit is solid this time, the blue bro clearly injured from the blow.


Prinny took 23 (normal physical) from waterbro and another 26 (grass physical :smalleek:) knocking him out.
Waterbro took 18 (normal physical)

Herb is on his own. Good luck little guy.


There's a mixture of cheering, wincing and a few "good effort!" and "nice try kid!" as prinny goes down.

Kay looks over to Angriff "Do you want a potion or something for Prinny?" And meanwhile Herbaceous continues his assault apon Waterbro.

Angriff call Prinny back to the pokeball whispering to him "Nice job Prinny! We've got some training to do, but that was a good first battle!" He then says to Kay "Keep going, man! You still got a chance on this! I will head back to the pokemon center I think, I will just wait the battle to finish!" Angriff is worried about Prinny, but he will wait the battle to finish (unless it start get too long)

He waits for an answer and quickly says "Let's go to the Pokemon Center, Prinny is in bad shape." as soon as he says that he start running - surprisingly fast for a big guy - to the pokecenter.

Micheal spoke up after Angriff finished."Yeah, Water bro took quite a nasty hit in that fight, I think a heal up at the center would be really nice for him. Besides, I need time to find the berries I think I packed, maybe". As Micheal finished he started to head towards the pokemon center, walking at a steady state opposed to Angriff's run.

"Yeah it was a Vine Whip"..."Hey guys while we have our pokemon heal wouldnt it be beneficial to have our other pokemon train as well...Im not suggesting a battle but if we re going to Crazer gym in wold be beneficial to try to train whenever possible."

"That's a good idea. It saves any of us going bored stiff, the pokecenter takes a while to heal pokemon." Kay then starts jogging after Angriff.

Once you open the doors you have a good look of the inside of the pokemon center: like a hospital waiting room the walls and ceiling are a calming white tone with the tiled floor covered in carpeting near the reception desk. Opposite the desk are a group of chairs centered around a circular table, magazines of various kinds piled in the center (and new issues to boot!).

Next to the waiting area a large flat panel tv is left on, currently on a news station the person on the screen is talking about New Hekel's factory.

"....denies all allegations of dangerous chemicals seeping into the environment as picketing of the factory continues into the second week...."

While certainly an important building there's very few people inside, the professor and her aides nowhere in sight.

As you approach the desk the nurse sitting on the other side looks up and smiles. "How can I help you today?"

Jack walks up to the desk with the nurse...while he heard the news report he doesn't think it as pressing as getting the pokemon cared for."Hello we just had a pokemon battle outside and we have injured our pokemon..we were wondering if we could have them cared for?"..."Also have you seen Professor Mulberry I had a few questions about pokemon and about being a trainer."

Angriff arrives at the Pokemon Center a bit breathless and saying "Can...you...please..." He makes a small pauses to catch his breath *PHEW* and keep explaining why he was there, but while he was doing that Jack explained everything. Angriff nodded to the nurse, getting Prinny's pokeball and handing it to the nurse "Please, take good care of my Piplup, the battle was pretty hard!"

Micheal chipped in after Angriff had finished. "Yeah, Water bro here took quite a hit in the battle, and he needs a little RnR in order to get back to full levels of awesomeness. If you wouldn't mind healing him that would be radical". Micheal handed the ball containing the Oshawott to the nurse.

Nodding she carefully takes each pokeball and places them on a tray. She hands it off to another assistant who takes the tray into the back room the sign "Pokemon recovery room" showing above it.

After handling those she ponders for a moment about the professor's whereabouts.

"I think Professor Mulberry is still in the back. I'll page her for you, she said to call her if any trainers asked." Lifting a phone from behind the counter she dials, only having to wait a few second before a response.

"There are some visitors here for Prof Mulberry.... ok I'll let them know." Setting the phone down she smiles.

"Professor Mulberry will be here in just a minute. She's finishing up a meeting. Is there anything else you need?"

You are all welcome to join!" he waits a while for an answer and then heads outside the pokemon center, to find a good place to start training Panzer.

Handing over Thorns pokeball"Please take care of him."He looks at Angriff and says Panzer sounds like a strong pokemon, let me join you in training outside and I'll introduce you to my friend Achilles.But first I wanna talk to the Professor."

True to the nurses word it only takes a few minutes before professor Mulberry reappears. Walking out from the back talking with another nurse she gives a nod in your direction while she wraps up her conversation.

"...make sure than to report any anomalies than. It's brand new equipment and we don't want to cause any problems." The nurse nods and returns to the back rooms before the professor turns to those still inside the building.

"Wonderful to see you boys again. You wanted to see me? How are your pokemon? Did you have anymore questions?"

"Yes i did Professor...besides gym battling are there any other options for trainers?"

[Talon15]

Professor Mulberry adjusts her spectacles before answering.

"Well if you mean other options in battles there are plenty of other trainers out there who would like to test their pokemon strengths against new opponents. Some towns like to hold their own competitions with rules that differ from the league and plenty of other competitions that can push your pokemon to their limit." She ponders for a moment before continuing.

"Outside of of the league the contests are the next big thing for trainers. The first Regional competition for the Rakko will be held later this year so everyone interested is trying to grab a spot. You could also go exploring, I'm sure there are plenty of hidden mysteries that you could find wandering off the beaten path."

"Professor Noidek in North crown could probably tell you more on that. I believe he has a few ruins that he hasn't had the chance to explore yet, since he has to run a museum and a gym after all. Oh and speaking of that, most of the gym leaders are not always about battling, I'm sure if you wished to see how far you've come as a trainer without fighting they could arrange something. Many of them have their own hobbies and careers that they focus on, and could probably point you in the right direction if battles were not your only interest. Course if none of that intrigues you, there's always becoming a researcher." Mulberry grins as she gives a little twirl, before realizing how long she's been talking.

"Oh I rambled on again, I hope some of what I said actually answered your question Jack."

"Thank you Professor ..that answered all my questions.Let me go outside and join the others." Jack turns to the door and pulls out a pokeball and out comes a Machop."Hey Achilles lets go train outside after he heals I'll introduce you to our new friend his names Thorn."

After training his Panzer with Jack and Kay, Angriff goes inside to pokemon center he will find something to eat and will tinker with his pokedex to pass the time, he will see if he find any information on what kind (species) of pokemon he can find on the road they will travel next.

Micheal sat comfortably in the pokemon center's waiting room as the others trained. The tv was on a rotation between region wide news, pokemon league information, and just general pokemon tv. Some notables:


Picketing at the New Hekel factory continues, suspicions of the factory leaking poisons into the surrounding environment.

Coverage of the brand new research lab in Starview. Showcasing the exterior and some of the labs, talking with some of the researchers there.

A brief interview with the gym leader of Northcrown, Professor Noidek. He discusses briefly some of the natural advantages and disadvantages of his preferred type: rock. Standing alongside him is some kinda dinosaur looking mon that he explains is a "cranidos".

Commercial for some specialty pokemon balls of varying types. Available now at most pokemon centers in select quantities

Elite four member Max Galland showing off in front of a contest hall. Smoozing with the ladies and signing autographs. The reporters attempts to interview him but it ends up turning into Max asking her out.



Somewhere around the third or fourth ad for some trainer accessories (wrist straps, hats, sportswear etc etc) the others return from their training.

Angriff was happy to see that the years playing video-games (and sometimes tinkering with the consoles/computer) and helping his father out on the workshop was paying off, he was able to find what he need in the Pokedex easily. His eye shone when he read "Drilbur", his mother have a Excradrill - the evolved form of the Drilbur - that she used with mastery on her gym's challenges, and it was one of Angriff's favorites. Besides that the Mankey and the Eevee, even not being a steel types, also aroused some interest in Angriff. He then showed to his companions what he found on the pokedex.

"Huh, there are quite a few bird pokemon along the way there, might try and catch one." Kay then brings out his pokedex and fiddles with it, looking at whatever various functions it has.

Micheal had fixed a Persim Berry in his portable grower when everyone came in. He stood up and said "So you guys ready to go? I would like to get this trip started...".

"I'm ready when all of you are." Kay then flips his pokedex closed and shoves it into a pocket.

Mons healed and training complete, Micheal, Kay, Jack and Angriff head east for Crazer city for a gym and adventure. Leaving the small trail that leads to the village you hit a larger dirt road it's easy going for most of the morning, the road handles cars and trucks easily so a few trainers is not a problem. about noon when you approach what appears to be a former campsite from some previous trainers in the distance (about 8m out). Trash and other debris can be seen, being scattered around by the wind and what looks like a few pokemon rummaging in the garbage for food.

Jack pulls out his pokedex to look up any information on the present pokemon.

Angriff gives 2 steps towards the mons, just to place himself as an obstacle betwen the unknow pokemons and his companions"I can take a hit or two after all..." he thinks. Then Angriff repeats what Kay just did and points his pokedex to the pokemons.

Kay follow's suite and pulls out his pokedex, scanning the pokemon.

As pokedexes are pointed theirs an audible *beep* as the mons are registered.

A second later a female voice says "Rattata". As well as a brief display of relevant data (i.e. pokedex entree).

At the sound of the beeps the four rattata look up from their meal, curious but not immediately hostile.


Nate you still have a chance to scan or perform any other actions since I gave the others one. After that we'll be running on initiative.

Micheal walked towards the mons, in front of Angriff, in a very casual manner as to not provoke the mons. "Hey there little guys," he said in a very soft voice "getting some grub I see, awesome.".

They don't seem to mind Micheal but don't appear any friendlier. One of the rattata keeps an eye on you while the others continue routing through the campsite.

"Hey, I know what you need," Micheal said as he started to rummage through his backpack, pulling out his other Persim berry after a little effort. "You must be hungry, digging through he trash and all, so this should be an an amazing meal for you. These taste like..." Micheal began to recall the bland taste Persim berries had."Well, food's food after all, dig in". After he finished Micheal leaned down and put the berry on the ground, setting it in the view of the mon that was looking at him.

The Rattata watching you Micheal seems intrigued, sniffing at the air. He glances back at the others and back at the treat. Shuffling his feet he seems torn between investigating and staying on guard.

Kay continues to watch, not wanting to disrupt what Michael is trying to do.

"Don't be shy little dude, I'm not here to hurt yeah or anything, here" Micheal said as he garbed the Persim berry lightly tossed it over to the Rattata, trying his best not to startle the mon.

Jack will place a hand on his pokeball...and watches the ratata for any sudden movements...he really wants Michael to succeed.

The rattata sniffs carefully at the snack before grabbing it and chewing thoughtfully. At this point the other three have noticed their compatriots behavior and are also moving closer to investigate. They're fidgety but the prospect of food is driving them closer.

"Ok, if you want, little dudes, I can give you another one," Micheal said as he pulled out another berry, "But if I give this too you, I need to know that you'll let us through. Ok purple dudes?"

The four rattata seem to chatter amongst themselves to discuss the proposal. Food for safe passage? Sounds legit.

He than says to no one in particular "I want to see if I can catch a dribul, it is one of my favorites...while we do that we could search another pokemons as well, if any of you guys want..." Angriff repass the list of pokemons of the area to the others.

Jack puts his pokeball away and pulls out his pokedex. As he passes Micheal, he says "That was cool man." He then follows Angriff and Kay in searching for pokemon. Hopping to catching a Ralts.

Following the advice of your pokedexes leads you away from the scavenging rattatas and the road to a small meadow next to an out cropping of trees. While nothing is in plain view this does seem like the place to find drilbur and murkrow. While ralts don't appear to have a specific location to be found the dex recommended an out of the way place such as this.

Kay looks around noticing the lack of pokemon. "Do you think we could find berries around here? We could leave some as bait and maybe some pokemon will try go for it."

"That seems like a good idea...hell maybe if a ralts doesn't show up i might find something else...who knows."

As the four of you approach the outcropping of trees a quick search yields impressive results:

Several Sitrus and Oran berries are growing on a set of bushes. (five each)

Near the berry bushes several small tracks of land bound mons can be seen going to and fro and in the trees you realize they're not unoccupied. Four birds with black feathers are sleeping on the lower branches.

The birds haven't woken up to your presence yet and appear to be sleeping soundly. The small tracks near the bushes lead to a series of holes a few meters away.

Kay pulls out his pokedex and sets it to scan one of the Murkrow on the tree. "I suggest we scan then while they are unaware of us."

Jack copies Kays actions and scans the Murkrows with his pokedex.

The murkrow shift in their roosts, still asleep they still don't seem aware of your presence. Past the tree near the holes, a small head peaks out. Looking around for signs of danger.

"Guys it looks like their sleeping,I think we should bring out our pokemon just in case the situation changes" Taking his own advice Jack pulls out a pokeball and releases chespin.

Micheal replied with "Yeah, I think these guys won't be as interested in barriers as the last guys where" as he let out his Budew.

Kay's ball hits it's mark however, and the murkrow vanishes in a flash of light. The occupied ball bouncing to the base of the tree. Meanwhile Jack successfully climbs the berry bushes as the remaining three murkrow are awoken by the sudden attack. The two small brown mons dart towards some bushes in the south as the fighting begins.


That's the surprise round so we'll be running on initiative now. One mon is captured by kay, level 6 Female Murkrow, Docile.

"Well that didn't work, looks like it's time try to get some delicious berries" Micheal said as he started to try and climb the tree he was next to in an attempt to get some berries. Plant Bro, meanwhile, stayed put and simply focused on trying to get bigger.

Yeah, I failed my check to perception so I don't know of anything down south. But yeah if anyone took a bad hit and would rather not take the risk of a luck crit, then I still have 4 ability points left.

Jack approaches Thorn taps him on the head "nice job buddy...now lets go get some berries" With that Jack and Thorn return to the bushes and Jack has Thorn use Vinewhip to drop berries for Jack to catch.

Angriff quickly removes his pokedex from the pocket and aim at the mysterious mons, and activate it to see what they are and what infos the Pokedex have about them.

There's a ping as your pokedex politely informs you the mons you are looking at are sandshrew. The one in front takes a few mock swings, puffing it's chest as best as it can to intimidate.

Jack will pick up the 3 Persims and walk over to the Sandshrews with Thorn..."Hey Buddies relax, Nothing bad is gonna happen to you"..Remembering the way Micheal dealt with the Ratata Jack pulls out some berries and offers it to the Sandshrews...As he looks at them he tries to see why only one of them is being intimidating."Did the Murkrows injure this guys buddy?"

The sandshrew hiding in the back doesn't appear to be injured, just scared. But at the prospect of food the one in front lowers it's guard as the timid one in back pokes out to sniff at the air.

Jack holds out his hand and tries to appear as nonthreatening as possible..."Here you go buddy"

The formerly timid sandshrew snatches the berry out of your hand and scarfs it. The other giving an admonished look at it's friend greed. It huffs and crosses it's arms. Well they don't appear to treat you as a threat at the moment so you know... that's something.

The formerly timid sandshrew finishes eating the berry with a happy burp. Waving it's arms at the group to follow it runs over to the series of holes east of the trees. It's grumpier friend following. It dives into the closest one while the other slowly follows, several other sandshrews begin poking their heads out to see what the hubub is about.

Kay looks over to the Sandshrew and pull's out his Pokedex, scanning them. "Seems like we've got the entire families attention." Kay says with a hint of humor in his voice.

Jack looks at Angriff and Micheal, and says "Well if you don't want to catch them, we might find more pokemon down the road." Jack looks at Kay and goes " Do you think we should leave these guys a some berries before we go?"

Kay looks at the five sitrus berries he has. "I think we have enough to leave them a few. I have five sitrus berries myself, how many did you manage to get Jack, Micheal?". Kay then picks up one of the berries and gives it to Jack. "But yeah we should decide soon and keep on heading to Crazer city."

The sandshrew pops back up, carrying a small item. It cautiously walks up to Jack before holding it up to you. While dirty and dusty (must've been down there a long time) you can still read the label: "Tm 96".

Jack picks up "TM 96" and looks at the sandshrews.."Thanks guys" He looks at the other guys and asks "Do any of you know what this does?"

Kay looks at the disc-like object. "Oh. That's a TM, you can use it to teach a pokemon a move, but I don't know what it'd teach them."

Angriff grabs one of each Berry from his companions ((if they are ok with it)) and start heading toward the entrance of the hole with the berries on his hand, followed by a confident Panzer. As soon he is near the hole he places one of the berries near the hole and waits.

While you wait several of the sandshrew watch, curious as to what you're doing. Most of the holes continue to be left undisturbed but one that is furthest from the group you begin to hear movement, as a claw reaches out to feel around for the berry.

Angriff start moving really slowly toward the hole entrance, trying to not make any rush movement to see what is inside and, but still wanting to be noticed. Carrying the other berry in hand.

The brown mon surfaces to grab the berry. Your dex helpfully pings "Drilbur" as it looks up at the sound, confused and alittle surprised by the giant human at it's door. It looks to the sandshrew in almost a "could you explain?" way.

Kay runs over to Jack silently, trying to avoid disturbing the Drillbur. "It certainly has been a eventful day."

Angriff thanks the Drilbur before retrieving a pokeball and capturing him. Finished he turns and nods to the others. "Alright, I'm ready to go."

[Mistelin]

Jack looks at Kay as he reaches him and goes "Eventful..sure is , and we have barely traveled outside of our town...If the rest of our adventure is going to be anything like this...Eventful isn't going to begin to describe it." As Angriff approaches Jack goes. "Looks like we have a hell of a team now...but somehow I don't think it will be what we need when we get to the gym at Crazer City." He starts walking down the road.

"Well, there's no time like the present to get a move on, then." Kay starts jogging to catch up with Jack. "We'll probably make it to Crazer city soon. Those of us who want to battle the gyms can come up with a battle plan then, its only the first gym so I would imagine it would be extremely difficult, but we'll see." Kay then shrugs, stumbling a bit then settle's into a walking pace.

The rest of the trip down the road uneventful. The occasional bird pokemon flying overhead as you reach the outskirts of crazer city.

One of the cities that quickly adjusted to the onrush of travelers Crazer's buildings have a new modern look to them. Advertisements and billboards hang on the side of the road as you walk, in stark contrast to the quieter you just left. Streetlights, bustling crosswalks, people coming and going it's more alive and can be overwhelming to newcomers. But the city doesn't really come alive until after sunset. That's when the city's quartet of nightclubs open up and the parties begin to start. For now it's late afternoon, you have a few hours of daylight left. Conveniently placed for travelers, a pokemon center is the first building to mark the start of the city.

"We should probably head over to the pokemon center..rest up..I kinda want to find out how to use this TM..what do you think Kay, Angriff ?"

"Sounds like a plan. Someone at the pokemon center can probably tell you how to use the TM correctly, and those of us who want to challenge the gym can maybe find out more about it."

Angriff nods enthusiastically as he makes a beeline for the pokemon center. "Yeah I can't wait to challenge the gym."

The big man hustles inside without waiting for a response.

Kay follows after Angriff, waiting for the doors to open fully before entering. Kay looks around the pokemon center, then walks to the nearest seat and sits down.

Jack follows Kay and Angriff in and walks to the desk.When someone approaches him, he says "Me and my friends would like to have our pokemon checked.Also we heard there is a gym here and we were wondering if you could tell us anything about it.In addition I have this TM" pulls it out. "And I was wondering what it can do and its use."

[Talon15]

"A nurse smiles and holds out a tray for your pokeballs. "Hi I'd be happy to help you and your friends. Our gym is actually located in the Pitch Black club on main street. Just follow the road out of the center and you can't miss it. It's pretty close to opening time too. Normally there's a long line but they let trainers skip if they are there to challenge Lucy." She hands the tray once it's filled to another assistant who takes it to the healing machine in the back before turning back to you.

"Lucy is a dark type specialist, she's a low tier gym leader so you don't have to worry about her doing anything tricky if this is your first time." She takes the tm that you were handed, dusting it off before examining it.

"I believe that's nature power, it's effects depend on the environment, to use it you just have to attach it to the side of the ball, like this and it'll activate on it's own." She demonstrates on a spare ball as she instructs, before handing it back with a smile.

"Anything else you boys needed to know?"

"Not for me, and thank you."Jack turns away from the nurse and looks at the others and says "Do you guys want to go over to the gym after our pokemon rest or do you guys want to explore the town?"

Kay waits for a moment before replying. "The nurse said it was close to opening time right? We could explore for a little bit then go to the gym, gives us time to prepare ourselves mentally and such."

While your pokemon are being healed the tv in the waiting area cycles through the usual lineup:

Advertising of new pokemon accessories and interviews with the elite four to build more hype for the Rakko League.

Continued picketing and protesting of the factory at new hekel. The reporter claims they have evidence that poison seeping from the plant are driving away the local species from the swamp. The Gym leader and owner of the plant, Loria Reinbeck, insists the plant is perfectly safe and that something else is damaging the swamps ecosystem.

A few ads for various themed hotels in bluepeak city, including the spectral hotel; run by sister hostel it's also the city's gym.

Over the drum of the advertisements several people are in the waiting area as well, sharing local gossip.

While waiting for Panzer and Prinny to heal up, Angriff picks his Drilbur's Pokeballs and releases it to get to know him better, he then says "Nice too meet'ya, My name is Angriff, this are Jack and Kay, my friends!", the Drilbur looks a little confused at first, but he quickly relax and sends a "drillll..." as approval to Angriff and his companions. Angriff pet him on the head and finish saying "I think I will call you Molok, what do you think?", the drilbur - or Molok! - sends another cry off approval to the name and then start napping.

Angriff listen carefully to the TV and says "Man, that is awfull...hopefully all the pokemons on that area are safe..." but quickly changes subject saying "So, what are you guys strategy for the gym battle? I' don't think Molok is ready for a gym battle like this, unless I train him a bit first...so it is up to Panzer and Prinny and I'm not so sure if it will be enough, gym leaders are usually much more powerfull than a regular trainer."

Kay shrugs. "I wasn't entirely planning on challenging the gym, but the general rule is, the first gym isn't usually too hard. Perhaps it might a better idea to train a bit more, but that's entirely up to your judgement. "

[Mistelin]

"Actually I have to admit that I'm here to Gym Battle and Search for a pokemon Contest...I don't know what i want to do in the future but I figure this will be a good place to try it out." Jack looks at Angriff and says "If you want we can battle each other and train ourselves and our pokemon ,I mean we are right next to the Pokemon Center so we can always get them taken cared off...what to you think?"

Jack looks at Kay and says "I never asked but what do you want from our journey?"

Kay smiles. "Mostly, I want to learn about pokemon more. I have a passion for medicine and... Well, you can only learn so much within a pokecenter. You don't really get to see what makes a trainer, only the injuries sustained from it. Not to mention this could potentially be one of the only chances for me to experience being a trainer of a sort, I'd rather do it now rather than when I have a higher chance of breaking my own hip." Kay chuckles at his own joke for a couple of seconds.

"But the call I got from Professor Mulberry was a great opportunity and it felt like a good idea to accept. This way I can learn more about pokemon, medicine and what it really feels like to be an actual trainer... You know after saying that now, I feel compelled to challenge the gym."

Angriff is smiling really happy with his new friends and says to Jack "I bet you will have a lot of opportunities to improve yours medicine skill traveling with me and Kay! I can see a lot of adventures in our futures...maybe even some danger, so it is really good to have someone with your knowledge."

Angriff looks to Kay and says "Sounds like a good plan! We can battle right now, and heal then up with the others pokemons. I choose Molok!" Angriff quickly wakes Molok and position him and his pokemon in a 'antagonic' side of Kay.

Other than the nurse politely reminding you to take the battle outside the prospect of a battle immediately gets a small following of the other trainers waiting on mons. Some seem really interested in seeing the out of towners fight, others just need something to kill the time.

After retrieving his pokemon from the nurse, you see Thorn and Achilles pop out of their respective pokeballs.Jack looks at Angriff. "I'll wait for you outside."
