Weapon for a Euphoric Ardent

What weapons are good for a Euphoric Ardent? The greatspear seems useful, but would a weapon with the staggering effect be more useful since I'm planning on taking the Stygian Adept paragon path, and that involves a lot of sliding. I want to play a tiefling if that makes a difference

staggering would not help with the paragon path's feature. the slide is a triggered effect after the power is used, not a part of a weapon power.

I really like having Greatspear + Hafted Defense on Ardents, especially if you get a half-elf with eldritch strike and that spear that lets you make a basic attack with +1 on the melee reach at will. So you get a range 3 attack that slides 1 with some good soft control and positioning, but this is off-topic.
