Hi all,
So my school has given me an $1500 award to purchase school supplies that I can put toward a personal laptop. It would probably end up being for general use.
I generally use my home computer for word processing, internet, gaming, and running Mathematica or Matlab files (Primarily data analysis, typical files include curve fitting spectra, usually around 2400 channels to a collection of ~30 libraries).
Nothing too hardcore on the gaming, most system intensive game I own is whatever takes the most out of {Witcher 2, SC2-HotS, D3, Skyrim, Borderlands 2}
It's been awhile since I've done any serious computer shopping anyone have recommendation for a good laptop? More specifically what's a decent video card? I've no problem looking for one on my own, I just can't wrap my head around video cards. I swear, every time I get 3 lines in my eyes just glaze over.
A few general specs I have floating around in my head is:
I-7 Chip, >8gb memory, 1 Tb HDD, I'd prefer some solid state capacity but not required
As close to $1500 as possible. Over is better than under but try to keep it below $2k.
Oh and no Macs.
Thanks!
