I have been trying to do some research into how the tier system works, and have found myself asking several questions.

There is a lot of talk of how wizards are able to become godlike and create planes of existence, and other incredible spell combos resulting in massive wealth/power. I was wondering not only: a) since clerics are heavy spell casters, is there any way for them to achieve such power, and b) how is this done in the first place (and if possible how would a cleric accomplish this)?

Genesis (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/spells/genesis.htm) creates planes, it's on the Sorcerer/Wizard list as well as the Creation domain list, and there's a psionic equivalent (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/genesis.htm) in the Shaper discipline.

Yes, a Cleric can do the same thing, but only if he has the Creation or Magic domain (Magic domain can use a staff of it).

Ultimate Power Shenanigans usually involve using Gate (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/gate.htm) to call a Solar (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/angel.htm#angelSolar) or similar, have that one Gate in another, have that one Gate in another, have that one Gate in another... until your critical mass of Solars is enough to defeat anything. Each one is only called to perform immediate tasks, i.e. it stays for 1 round per caster level and doesn't cost you anything, so you only pay the initial xp cost.

Wizards, clerics, and druids are generally held to be the most powerful three classes, due to their being able to learn any spell available to them- clerics and druids can prepare any spell on their list, while wizards can purchase scrolls and copy them to their spellbooks (or just research the spell). There are two other classes capable of reaching the same power: Archivists, who are like divine wizards, researching spells; and Artificers, who can craft items to cast any spell, be it divine or arcane, in the game (plus spell to power erudites, I guess).

The ultimate power combos can come from a number of different places- the aforementioned chain-gating is a good one, or the spell shapechange (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/shapechange.htm), which allows a spellcaster to get practically any ability (my personal favorite shape is that of an elemental weird, so I can cast every divination an infinite number of times a round). Sourcebook creep means that as new splatbooks are released, the classes that can know every spell become more and more versatile, until they essentially have answers to everything, ever. A few easy tricks (http://dndtools.eu/feats/exemplars-of-evil--64/uncanny-forethought--3009/) allow prepared spellcasters to be infinitely versitile, and once the Spell Compendium gets opened, they can really never be caught with the wrong spells prepared.

So I guess the quick answer is that yes, the cleric can do it, and wizards, clerics, druids, artificers, archvists, and STP erudites gain their ludacris power not by one overpowered trick, but by knowing every trick at once.

If you are going to count the Artificer, you must count the Warlock as well... Imbue Item can make anything the Artificer can...
