So, I am very new to Hybrid/Multi-classed characters. I am playing a 3rd Level Eladrin Mage(Pyro/Necro) and would like to try MCing at level 4.

How should I go about this and what do I need to know?
What would be a good multi-class for a mage?

Multiclassing is very easy; you just take one feat and you get the exact benefit that feat specifies (e.g. a daily healing power, or a bit of extra damage once per encounter, or another class's at-will once per encounter). Getting a heal is nice for in emergencies, and other int-based classes like the psion or swordmage may have an at-will you can use. You can spend more feats to swap out powers, but given that the wizard has excellent powers by himself, you probably don't want that.

You can't hybrid when you level up, you can only choose that when you create your character.

Welcome to 4E!

This is not 3.5, and just about nothing is the same, mechanically, beyond rolling a d20 and adding numbers to beat a big number.

Nevermind, I got ahead of myself and made a presumption.

Tell us, what do you want to do, and we will help you get there.

The first, important questions:

-What do you want to gain by multiclassing?
-Which ability scores do you have a score of 13 or higher in?
