Ring of three wishes and magic items

If your players get their hands on a ring of three wishes, what kind of limit do you impose on magic item creation? I mean, obviously you wouldn't let them wish for another ring of three wishes, or a belt of magnificence, etc.

Limiting magic items to the same price tag as non-magic items is a reasonable houserule. Anything more expensive CAN be wished for, but may come with consequences as per greater effect.

I'm pretty sure you can't wish for magic items with a Ring of Three Wishes at all. Wishing for magic items increases the XP cost of the spell, which in the Ring's case was prepaid during its creation without any such surcharge.
