My DM and I had an argument on monday about Paladin spells known. I reasoned that, them being prepared Divine casters, Paladins could prepare from their entire spell list. My DM maintained his stance that Paladins get Spells Known in accordance with their Spells/day table.

The variability of my Paladin is on the line! Which of us is right? And if it's me, how do I prove it to him?

The answer (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/classes/paladin.htm) from the SRD.

More specifically: A paladin prepares and casts spells the way a cleric does, though she cannot lose a prepared spell to spontaneously cast a cure spell in its place. A paladin may prepare and cast any spell on the paladin spell list, provided that she can cast spells of that level, but she must choose which spells to prepare during her daily meditation.

You are right, Paladins prepares spells just as a clerics. It's right there in the text (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/classes/paladin.htm#Spells). Fourth paragraph, first line.

Other argument, does a paladin have a table spell known like a sorcerer? Nope, he does not. Does the spell description have a separate paragraph dealing with spells known? Nope. Just contrast and compare paladin's spell description with the cleric and sorcerer.

I reasoned that, them being prepared Divine casters, Paladins could prepare from their entire spell list.

While you are right about the Paladin this reasoning doesn't apply to all Divine classes for example: the Archivist can only prepare spells he has written in his prayerbook.
